Scott ChristyMono vs. StereoFrederick French-Pounce is an expert on classic pop and rock from the 1960s. Each episode takes listeners on a journey through a classic album to discover differences in the original mono and stereo mixes (and, sometimes, relevant remixes). Is this necessary? Are there really that many differences between a mono and stereo version of an album? The answer is a resounding YES! While there are a few albums where the mono and stereo versions are very similar, many times there are discernible differences, instruments mixed higher, different vocal takes, longer fades, wetter (or dryer) vocals and instruments, and the list goes on. Frederick French-Pounce covers each album’s differences extremely thoroughly. You will be amazed at how many of these albums are wildly different to the point listening to either version is almost a completely different experience. I have learned so much listening to this podcast, and have discovered albums for myself simply hearing them covered on here. This podcast will give fans of 1960s music a new appreciation and appraisal of their favorite albums.

PSD NJA wonderful discovery!I just stumbled on this podcast while searching “French music.” Somehow, the search words picked up — music & Frederick French Pounce. Well, I’m glad they did. When I saw Disraeli Gears and mono and stereo comparisons, I knew this here audiophile would relish the podcast. And I did! Just finished up Ribber Soul and Something Else. Can’t wait to develop into the other albums. Exceptional, fun, elucidating music podcast. Well done!
