Freaking awesome show. Also like when you pop in on my other podcasts

    Katie Goldin a national treasure
I love this show so much. She’s got so much charisma and mixes that with a lot of really interesting facts. I also majored in bio and she really knows how to speak the lingo. Better than I could tbh. She’s a really sharp person.

    Tarzan
How accurate is the new Tarzan movie? What animals would make a real life Tarzan?

Katie has become a true pro!
I’ve followed works the host, KG’s own artistic works in comedy, acting, writing, and now conducting interviews and co-hosting shows of her own. Early on I knew she was brilliant, but never given a medium that satisfied her love of all life, and helped show others the Truth, Beauty, Strange, Charming lives of all lives as they interact and weave narratives most would have missed. I daresay, if she later shows as much spiritual growth, as she has artistic and scientific growth, I’d have to consider her as I would a fellow shaman. Good luck, Katie, and for the record, it was your time on Secretly Incredibly Fascinating as co-host that finally convinced me not to skip Creature Feature, because previously the cat lizard thumbnail used for the Title on Apple Podcasts biased me against it unfairly, and I very wrongly assumed it would be a wacky sound effects filled thing that hurt my eyes and ears (I’m neurodivergent, so, literally hurting). But I was 200% Wrong to assume. This was as pleasant as SIFPod and others I love, and you have honed your raw talent in wonderful ways. I will observe your journey as I now do all my favorite Podcasters. Sincerely, Shaman Safford.

    Be nice to nerds!
Katie is delightful! She is funny, but not in an arrogant way, she just knows a lot about what she is interested in and she knows how to find out about what she doesn't already know. Katie is funny, in that totally authentic, self deprecating way that everyone loves. She reminds me of that shy, nerdy girl in high school that we all knew. She got great grades, she knew all the answers, but she was completely awkward. She seemed nice enough, but apparently didn't get invited to a lot of things outside of school. We probably should have tried way harder to know all the "Katies" back then.

    Feed the Giraffes, Katie!
Cannot believe you haven’t feed the giraffes. Not even at the San Diego Zoo? Or wait, you are in Italy now. I only went to a few zoos in Germany but can’t remember their giraffe situation. But feed them if you can. Feed them now!

A comfort in a recitative world
Of course Katie gives fascinating and important information about our fellow-creatures. Of course she’s a righteous evangelist for the value and ecological place of every creature. But I realized last week that her podcast and her approach make me feel better about the human world I live in. Katie gives sources for research she cites— and explains how experiments were performed. She understands stats and logic, anatomy and physics as well as biology, and explains them in intuitive and i condescending ways. Listening to Katie and her guests, I am reassured that neither the human world nor I are as upside-down as I can sometimes fear.

Has me looking foreword to every Wednesday
I’ve probably listened to every episode of this podcast about three or four times now. Excellent replay value because each episode dives into multiple different animals, and I realize this also means new listeners can start anywhere! Also Katie Golden is super funny and endearing!
  • Fun fun fun fun on a bun
If you like random facts about humans and animals, look no further
One of the best podcasts that I have the privilege of listening to.

I love this podcast! Makes my day better every time I listen to it!
Keep it up! You guys are getting better and better! Ps. Do you think the T-Rex was a scavenger or a predator? Or maybe something else altogether?

    You'll learn and laugh :D
Katie brings such a bubbly personality to a podcast which also teaches you things you never thought you'd learn about the animals that make up our ecosystem. It's a very fun biology lesson packed with laughs and I never miss an episode, they make my day.
  • when the sun goes black
    obscure animal fact perfection
Thank you Katie for making me the fun person at parties who tells people about how whale ear wax is like tree trunk rings, and that squirrels have a 75% rate of refinding their buried treasures! I look forward to the new episode every week.
  • Factory Rat
    Perfect!
Katie is the perfect podcast host. She has a cute voice. She’s funny. And she delivers loads of information. I love it!

    Fan from the start!
Hi Katie! I heard you on another podcast introducing creature feature from the start. I immediately knew it was a perfect weekly listen. I LOVE animals and I LOVE psychology. I’m a podcast junkie. I work by myself in a kitchen at a school and instead of music I listen to shows like yours and I don’t feel so alone! Lol. I love to learn. You have a very fun way of teaching. I love your upbeat and comedic (funny and punny) delivery and your guests are amazing. Thanks for giving me so many hours of happiness. Your “who’s squaking” segment is so fun. Birds rights! Your fan Chef Matty

Funny scientist named Katie helps us learn
Thanks Katie for doing all that you do to make this podcast so funny AND interesting. Your love of all animals comes through and is always , always endearing and educational. I especially appreciate your optimism regarding how we can better care for animals and live with them better. Listening to people have a defeatist attitude about climate change and protecting habitats makes me feel both panicked and helpless. Thank you for not making me feel any of that, but instead, making me laugh, feel energized about the future, forever call otters “ noodle guys”, start a frikin huge pollinator garden, and work towards a better and healthier future!!

    Brightens Our Day
My eight year old son and I always enjoy listening to this together. I always wait for him to listen, it’s our little thing we do just us. Our little bonding time. Informative and fun, how can you beat that?

This postcard blew my expectations out of the water
I love this podcast! It is so fun to listen to and I have endless animal tribal to regale my friends with. If I could give it 10 stars I would!

    I can’t get enough
I absolutely love this podcast. Katie’s bubbly, nerdy energy is everything! So funny I’m always laughing out loud.

    Don’t listen while lifting!
As a biologist - 10/10 must listen. As a listener - I love this show but have had to learn not to listen at the gym! On more the one occasion, I have nearly dropped weight on myself from a poorly timed laughing fit.
  • redwolfhopw
    Awesome show
I’m always learning something on this podcast. This week I learned to a vaccine developed almost 2 years ago works to prevent a variant of a disease (omicron) that only recently mutated to its current form. Quite impressive.
  • abeepats
The perfect balance of funny and educational
I’ve listened to this podcast since 2019 and I have learned SO MUCH. Katie is so great at explaining really complex biological processes in a way anyone can understand, and making you laugh while doing it. She has great guests too! I’m now known as the person that is sure to have some weird animal fact for you and I hold that title with pride.
  • cuddlesize
    Very entertaining and Informative
I’ve been listening since July 2019 and this is definitely my favorite animal podcast. I listen to this podcast mainly while I’m work to ward off boredom while working solo and I love the guest reactions to the info Katie provides them. There are times where I’ve pulled out my phone to google the animal being discussed based off of the descriptions and reactions of the guests in the show. Totally worth it.

    An Amazing Experience
My wife and I have very different interests, she’s into murder mystery, and I like tech. What we both agree on is that this show is incredibly interesting and absolutely hilarious! Love the show Katie, keep doing great things! PSA: Skip the first episode, it’s weird, and doesn’t reflect the quality of the podcast.

    Guffaw
Hilarious! The number of times this podcast has made me not merely chuckle, but outright bawl with laughter . . . It’s probably dangerous for me to continue listening to these episodes during my daily commute but if I drive myself off the road at least I’ll die happy. Definitely five star entertainment AND five star education. Consider me tickled.

  • Laurenjeanvoigt
    Yes to animals!
Katie is so wonderful. A friend told me about this podcast a while ago and I subscribed, but forgot about it. Then when life was at its worst and Covid time was leaving me very isolated I started with Katie’s cat episode. It was so enjoyable and hilarious! She’s so knowledgeable and fun to listen to! I thought I knew animals well, but she has such a wealth of knowledge and delivers it in such an easily digestible way! Thank you Katie for reminding me that the world is still filled with wild and cool things! In a really dark time in my life you helped me find some joy again. Thank you for creating this for the world. ❤️❤️❤️

    The perfect way to learn!
I recently discovered the activity of “learning for fun” and this podcast is a perfect way for me to do that without trying to do my own research and getting distracted. My partner and I love listening to Katie be hilarious and have interesting, laid-back convos about wacky animal phenomena. 10 out of 5 stars!
  • RobertRatesAPodcast
    Recent listener now binging
I discovered this podcast in a roundabout way through a tumblr post screenshot of Katie’s bird Twitter account. Someone mentioned this podcast in the notes. I’ve been hooked since. There’s so much bad pun and dad jokes, mixed with astounding facts! And bonus, sometimes Katie does a cute animal voice. And if you don’t have a cute animal voice you’re a monster.
  • The Nillers

    Show notes?
I enjoyed the show about expressions of anger and fear but couldn’t find the show notes which I was hoping to see links to pictures and sounds.

One of the most delightful podcasts around
Just a wonderful time with a wonderful host with wonderful animal facts. Absolute 10/10.
  • BananaSquirrel
    Animals abound!
This podcast reminds me why I majored in biology! I love everything about phylogeny and I love how Katie adds humor and creativity to her educational episodes. Even without video, she gives enough vivid detail for the listener to picture each critter in complete beauty (or horror).
  • uscftbll19
    Extremely informative and always funny!
Katie clearly has a passion for animals and all their strange foibles. Definitely a highlight on my play list to hear a fellow animal lover
