    great podcasts
filled out my physical media coen bros library and re-listened to the “coen bros bros” miniseries last year. one of my favorite podcast series. “shooting threes,” “1ups,” “directorpiece theater” are more of my favorite shows amongst a sea of great ones.

Love these folks. Agreeing with the other person asking for “collections” in Patreon for easier episode sorting!

Some of the best media analysis out there
Absolutely love the thoughtful analysis and interpretation on frame rate and Ander-sons/Cohen brothers type shows and especially killing it with the Cowboy Bebop series. I love the empathetic tone they all take when dissecting media, it’s pretty inspiring

    The Best Beans
I loved them at Cracked, and I love them now! The Beans and the extended Beaniverse sister network with Gamefully Unemployed make top shelf content. Grow the beans today!

    Wait… I didn’t review it?
Just realized that I hadn’t reviewed this pod. Anyways, it’s good, a bunch of guys from the Cracked Golden Age, funny stuff, movie stuff, dad stuff- Y’know, the usual great podcasting the Cracked Alumni do

    Always quality
Can’t get enough of all the content this team generates. If y’all want to hear one of their best shows it’s behind the paywall on their Patreon account. It’s called Star Trek: The Next Futurama, and that should be enough of a description for you if it’s going to be your kind of thing.

    What variety!
This pod is a kaleidoscope of topics, but with an underlying tone of witty humor and earnest curiosity. It’s the hub of several shows, from creative movie reviews to throwing a party for dark nights of the soul.

I love these beans, and all their shows!
You’d be hard-pressed to find a group of podcasters as empathetic and open-minded and critical (vis-a-vis the first two adjectives) as Small Beans. Not all the shows are for everybody— if you’re just here for movies, well, that’s most of their shows. But if you also want to deep-dive into the human condition, well, first, that’s also movies; but second, that’s also here, in-re Tales From the Pit, as well as Michael’s book, which is amazing, and deeplier introspective than any book I’ve ever encountered. These folks want to you *feel* when you engage with media, and they are here to help you develop and maintain the ability to do so!

    Huge beans!!!
You’ll find no bigger beans in other podcasts. Don’t even look… Great discussions that play out over a myriad of shows. My favorite is probably Ander’s Sons, but I’m such a big fan of them trying out new ideas. Coen Brothers Brothers slaps, for instance. They collab with equally funny and enjoyable people from Gamefully and elsewhere. 10/10, wish I had money for their Patreon, but alas I am cheap.

My favorite movie reviews on the internet
Small Beans is run by intelligent and insightful creators covering the most fun movies that you love… particularly fond of Coen Brothers Brothers and wish there were more for them to cover… I also can’t wait for the Kings of King review of The Stand. Keep it up bruhs and gals

I wish these were my friends I was occasionally annoyed by but always appreciated.

    Sincere entertainment
There are lots of funny podcasts to listen to, but what makes these creators different than others is there sincerity. Even if they are critical of a movie or game, it comes from them wanting to see good things put into the world. I hope they get to make their movie, now that the strikes have been resolved. Support genuine voices, not corporations.

    We love you!
The show is always great. This duo have ignited a passion for film making and production I never knew I had in me. I love all the Small Beans cast and regulars since the days of Cracked. Also, I always listen until the end so I can hear Michael say he loves me.

Love the content, but there seems to be an internet delay of up to 2-3 seconds between some hosts when recording some eps that results in 3-5 second overlaps in talking, which is maddening: A: “The director makes a choice to—“ B: “But I also want to note—“ A: “…follow the actors for—oh, sorry.” B: “…before we move on….oh, no, I was just—“ A: “…Did you wanna say….no, I thought…”

An amazing series of shows from some amazing writers
Thank you Michael for bringing back so many of my favorite people. I love everything you guys have every made and you’ve helped me through some lonely times. Keep writing and I’ll keep consuming!

    You're doing fine.
Of the cracked alumnus this is a group I still listen to sometimes. Good not great, I skip a lot, but honestly I tune in more than I don't. I think. Maybe. I honestly don't care if you make content I like your voices need to be heard. You have a lot to offer and I hope you do well.

    Always enjoyable
There isn’t a bad show in the mix but personally Michael Swaim may literally be a prophet for me. I’ve followed him since Cracked and still re-listen to Vonneguys episodes. Side note, if you’re looking for ideas, I’d listen to a theology and philosophy podcast with Michael in a heartbeat.

A lot of judgmental condescending content
Hated the closer episode seemed really anti-black also other reviews come off as preachy

    Some good, some bad
Know that this is a not a podcast but a network of podcasts where some are good and some are bad. The good: 1Upmanship which reviews video games, and Kings of King which discusses Stephen King stories. The bad: BOLD which is full-on left-wing extremist nonsense, and Cast and the Curious which is only bad because the hosts are boring and annoying. The rest is a mixed bag. Definitely worth checking out but you’ll want to try a few to figure out what’s worth listening to and what you’ll want to skip.

    I Came Here for Comedy
I started listening to Small Beans for comedy, and found much much more. The network’s gang takes on mental health and addiction right beside movies and video games, all with humor and kindness. Plus, I still get the comedy. Win win win.

Small Beans are the only beans I can truly recommend(I don't like beans)
Been following Michael since the c****** days. He and his friends have created something wonderful here that I look forward to weekly. I deeply appreciate that this exists and it makes me very happy!

    I love small beans
But I swear if you cracked folks don't stop dragging Adam Tod Brown and his boring, unimpressive, empty, irrelevant, neurotic and predictable opinions onto podcasts when you need a guest I'm gonna unsubscribe to all of you. He's always free for a reason and he is EASILY your worst regular guest. Please, I'm begging at this point, I want to hear yall's analysis but I cannot bear listening to this guy speak the most and say nothing interesting. Respectfully.

    About Framerate
Instead of trying to make a movie into smething you can understand, I recommend striving to understand the movie that was made. A film is NOT made better by explaining things to an audience who lacks the requisite insight &/or empathy to follow what is being said in the film., especially when that film was made in a time when people understood the importance of raising children to have empathy & insight. We are awash in White Supremacists. Yet, when you see Gattaca, there is confusion about why someone would fight against another person who dares to destroy the only thing they had: i.e. a birthright that promised that they were superior. When they lose that, they lose everything. If you don't understand this, then you literally have no idea about what's happening in the real world. You don't know why people do the things they do. You dont' understand why people would have risen up to destroy our prosperity & our democracy in order to protect the rights of white supremacy. So, you can't even understand current real world things. Don't expect movies made in a more enlightened era to embrace the weaknesses of the unenlightened. If they'd have stopped to explain that or aything else to those who don't understand the world, it would not have been a well loved film. The problem isn't the film. We live in a time where every movie is made worse bedause it has to explain things to an audience who were raised to lack empathy & insight. Lacking empathy & insight is a sign of mental illness. Great films don't reinforce mental illness. They are ade for the psychologically healthy. I recommend watching the movie again & try to figure out what it was about. It's a truly beautiful movie, &, yeah, you should have known in the begining that there would be asuicide at the end. After all, it would destroy everything if he was detected on earth while he is supposed to be in space. The movie was made for different audiences, when people were still receiving a good liberal education in public scchools & were being raised to have empathy for others & insight. It wasn't made for Millennials or younger, who were NOT raised to acquire empathy or insight, due to a political movement by the right. The move you would prefer instead would not have the themes of Gattaca & would not be a cult classic. Listening to this was so painful, I eventually had to stop. I'm still shaking my head. I really don't understand what it is like to lack the level of insight needed to understand things in film, when you're living in those things. There must be an impairment of some kind. I don't get it. There are poor white people who fight against policies that would help them, because they're fighting for white supremacy. People harm themselves every day fighting for "superiority" & supporting policies that hurt them. Yet, you really can't see why the brother would be angry about a guy who doesn't know his place, won't get in it, & won't stay in it. Please just review movies after 2000, when they dumbed down every movie for focus groups.
