Big fan of this show. Found it during the pandemic. Good takes on bad things. Hope they don’t get burnt out with increased news/the Monday show (it’s been such a pleasant surprise having this in my podcast feed at the start and end of my week). Keep up the good work.

If you want news in podcast form this is the only place to go. I have been a fan for years and now more than ever the work done on this podcast is critical.

I very much enjoy this podcast in general, but the Feb 7, 2025 was particularly bracing, encouraging, and supportive. The fireside discussion around embracing what actually matters IRL and not burning our energy on online tumult truly filled me up. Thank you so much!

Very informative very funny

But you know what, we don’t need to be woke anymore; MTG is a woman(supposedly) so she shouldn’t be in charge of anything. While the takes on SMN are generally accurate, they’re rarely more than surface level explorations and the information can be found from a number of other sources that have a more compelling delivery. Cody’s character (or it is just him) is not nearly as clever as he believes.

Very entertaining and informative deep dives, and fun, thoughtful conversations between Kody, Katie, and Johnathan. Thanks to More News, I better understand where we’re at and how we got here, while still being able to laugh about it.

Nominally leftist, but there is zero class analysis or focus on financial inequality. Mostly filled with the talking points present on MSNBC, without any deeper analysis or discussion.

Excellent Pod

This is the second time I’ve deleted out an episode rather than hear a host forgiveness wash a person who legitimately voted for a racist President. It’s great that they “think they’re not a bad person”, but you’re bad person adjacent.

I really enjoy the SMN and Even More News, but people have to please stop interrupting Katy while she’s speaking. I know it happens to others, but I notice it happening to her so much that every time she speaks for more than a few sentences someone else cuts in. Other than that, it’s great!

Can you put ENM in a separate feed? It’s really just Katy talking at this point

A great format with strong left voice Cody Johnston working against cartoonish centrist Katy Stoll. They way they use the character of straw dog Katy Stoll defending various right wing monsters in American politics like JD Vance to make Cody’s cogent arguments seem much more logical is masterful podcasting. Probably the most commercials I’ve ever seen for an hour podcast? Like 30 minutes of advertisements for every hour of podcast. Good overall, but a heroic amount of advertising.

Katy and Cody always make getting the news less depressing!

Always interesting to hear both sides from two hosts on the opposite sides of the political spectrum and Jonathan.

I consumed this content for years but at this point the hosts are simply negative about everything. I don’t think they provide useful balanced information anymore as their emotions and personal biases against, seemingly everyone, makes the show impossible to listen to now. I am more sad than anything.

Two stars because Johnathan is articulate, smart and when the other two stop talking, provides salient points. Cody rambles, rambles and “yeah ugh ooh yea” and says nothing of substance. The contrarian never satisfied with anything trope is tiring and frustrating, plus he’s constantly interrupting. Katie seems like she’s going to say something substantive but then loses track and diverges and goes on tangents and has to always mention about her life in the mountains and uses big words that often fail to state a cogent idea. I tried, I’ve tried to give this pod the benefit of the doubt because I want to hear other voices on the left but I always feel I wasted a precious hour of my life to listen to people rambling with no message other than “we hate everybody but can’t articulate why”

I am a day 1 fan. Loved y’all at cracked, and have continued to love the show. But this podcast is just a slog of mush. I don’t want 5 minutes of trash holidays followed by 20 minutes of “how ya doin” You spend so much time on worthless chitchat, that you rarely have time to actually cover the news. I loved the cast in the begining, but it lacks any flair that I care for

It’s amazing they do this daily content, they are thoughtful and definitely getting into the thick of daily news. The banter and humor is nice, given how much of a bummer news is. The cadence can be kind of jarring, and there’s a lot of sputtering. They do this weird affected “newsman” SNL voice, which can be rough. It has a theatre kid vibe, but without the confidence or fidelity, which can be a bit hard to listen to. Look, it’s a solid daily progressive podcast that’s rough around the edges. it’ll converge on something great.

The experiences Katy relates about interactions with people in the mountains and how they’re voting or why they’re voting are invaluable. I haven’t heard any other left wing podcaster that seems to have an actual grasp on the average republican voter. I live in Alabama so I interact with them daily and her experiences mirror my own. It’s very refreshing to hear another leftists opinions that are grounded in reality rather solely formed by interactions with Twitter trolls. Especially on a platform as large as this. Keep up the good work Katy!

Put it on while on a long car trip. I was reaching for a vomit bag with one hand, and listening to this podcast. My nausea subsided almost immediately hearing the voices of Cody and Katy. Thanks guys!

Excellent writing, great information and entertaining presentation make SMN something I look forward to every week.

I mean it’s the same show, without any visuals so my tender sacks of eye flesh can do less work! my one gripe is that the format kinda makes citations a drag since you have to match the timestamp with the video and there should probably be a pastebin somewhere but whatever

This show is so one-sided when it comes to the mass murder of children! They never bring in people to cover the “other side” of the issue! How very dare they!

I’ve come to think of the Some More News as my weekly dose of both rage, insanity, and comedy. I enjoy it more than Last Week Tonight with John Oliver and that’s saying something. I’m part of the patreon but I still listen to hilarious and unhinged commercials because I enjoy them that much (seriously advertisers, I could skip commercials but I don’t want too!). I appreciate that there is always a call to action or some answer to the issues we face. Also Even More News is awesome as well! Thank you all for doing this!

Thank you guys for caring about things and speaking up. I’ve listened to SMN for years and never bothered to write a review or anything, but today’s episode about Gaza protests deserves a response. Your show is one of the few places I can go to not feel gaslit about the state of the world, and to feel some kind of hope.

I wonder how much of your audience cared about that. I really dug high stepper or whatever so this beef is just tangentially interesting to hip hop heads. Kendrick deep and jcole used to be on the edge of that same kind of truth. But very meh jcole diss and honestly havnt heard drakes response.

Honestly I’m over it. Fanbase of a bunch of tankie 12 year olds.

Filled with the information I need… somehow hilarious, educational, entertaining, informative, and infuriating all at once. I highly recommend this podcast to everyone!

What a rip-off. Exactly as advertised. It’s the YouTube episode without pictures. Anyway, five stars.

This show used to be fantastic, but in the last few months it’s just unlistenable. It’s a shame.

Bring someone with other opinions so it doesn’t sound like echoing the same stuff into already agreeing sameness

Cody was cool and all got a while, but fell into the trap in 2019 that only Bernie was a good candidate and made the bad faith attacks on Liz Warren for being not progressive enough, which was absurd. The sexist attacks on her were too much for me to continue being a fan of Cody.
