iowa 2029Great stuffI enjoyed all these episodes!

zac_sSolid overview, with some issuesA very interesting and solid, if quick overview of the roots of modern fascism. Evans is engaging, but the co-host, Propaganda, brings little to the table with either pointless attempts to give contemporary examples of what Evans just described, or gets something fairly wrong. The bigger issue is that there are sudden ad breaks that cuts off the podcast in mid-speech. Then there come the “official” ad breaks just a minute or two later.

s37erasmus“Not a fan of Joseph Stalin…”What a ringing denunciation! Sort of like the half-hearted condemnation of the Anarchist practice of murdering priests and nuns, burning churches, and digging up the graves of nuns and standing up the corpses on street corners. Not barbarism…. Just “bad optics.” Still, I have to give him props for giving an erudite and very fair review of the lead-up to the Spanish Civil War. He had the good sense to cite Stanley Payne rather than Paul Preston.
-
redpodcastExcellentRobert Evans is very well informed. I learned some things I didn’t know about the rise of Hitler. Prop puts a hilarious spit on the happenings, but not in a disrespectful way.
-
nickname hella xIt works…Don’t be a nazi.
-
MikadoMDInteresting subject matter but poor executionThis subject matter deserves a much better treatment than this. These fascist coups are fascinating but this podcast is little more than one guy reading Wikipedia articles and the cohosts chiming in with wisecracks. Just read the Wikipedia articles yourself and cut out the fluff.

HRFloydGrasy shoeReallu, teally great ahoe.

Sisyphus' assistantInsurrection? There is a federal statute for “insurrection”. No one has been charged for insurrection. This is another silly attempt to make a mostly peaceful political rally into WWIII. Just stop.
-
MutatingReplicatorFascinating, but the co-host…I just can’t get past the co-host constantly punctuating the host with his constant “yeah.” He does this several times a minute, possibly to demonstrate knowledge of the details being spoken of. But I haven’t heard him say anything really insightful yet. Not worth the price of the constant stream of “yeah.” Seems like a fascinating show, but I don’t need to be annoyed during my podcast listening.

peaceloveandrocketsAudience expansionThis is important - more people need to know this history. Both hosts are clearly genius, yet the narrative flow is continually interrupted by the co-host. I have listened to hours on end of Robert Evans, but I find Prop very distracting. I feel like this show should be done at least 3 more times. Same narrative, different hosts from various perspectives. Like Pakman , Rogan, and some fascist wannabe. With extra time available for debate/school time with Robert. Kinda wish Matt would pull the chalkboard out a bit more with his guests. It struck me when Prop said ‘oh, so the white man caused the problem,’ that there are A LOT of us just like Robert and that we are now the (potential) solution. It Could Happen Here
-
Beth5750Informative and funI loved listening to this and learned a lot. It’s so well researched and explained, and your conversations help me pause and make sense of it all. I feel like everyone needs to listen to this to understand what is happening in the US right now. Thank you!
-
Pat in a HatReally well donePropaganda is a genius. Evans does his great work, as usual, but Prop brings it hard in this mini-series. Evans is quickly becoming the expert on evil in the podcasting world - his analysis gives us a clear warning for what our future could look like if we don’t fight fascism at every turn.
-
azure_orchidWell now I need to listen to Propaganda’s pods!Robert Evans is amazing as ever, but Propaganda brings a lot of insight and incredible takes in this pod, I really like hearing the banter and discussion! Fascinating pod.
-
TamlornCGO SOLO EVANS!!!Dude, your way of breaking down history is amazing and has so much potential to educate. However, your co-hosts make this very hard to listen to. Please just do these SOLO! Almost every review is begging for the same thing!
-
Walking my dog in the parkProvides important insight into fascismGreat podcast covering important ground... we cannot defeat fascism unless we understand its causes and how it could take root even in the US... as a student of history, I prefer more conventional fare but I recognize the value of the lighter vernacular approach this podcast takes as a bridge to broader audiences
-
SpacemanManuelHow It HappensFantastic series. Really outlines how the horrifying realities of Facism can quickly explode into and takeover a society. A must listen.
-
AdgjlzcbmqetuopTo Prop, Jeff, Sophie, and RobertI really appreciate Jeffery Epstein’s input in all the episodes. Really adds to the vibes yanno? Anyways, I love these miniseries because I like the energy that Robert, Prop, and Sophie create when they all end up on the podcast together. It’s informative and also chaotic, which my ADHD brain appreciates a lot. Keep doing what y’all do <3
-
Kitty O'MeowBrilliantLong live Robert, Sophie, Prop, and Anderson!
-
SinharvestxRobert Evans I’m sorryI have listened to 4 episodes and I love the idea. The topics are relevant and Robert Evans does great. I cannot listen anymore though because I can not tolerate the constant ghetto regurgitation coming from your guest Prop. Example: Robert Evans: Describing the part of the topic. Prop: Re-states same thing Robert just said, but with over the top slang and a partial understanding. As someone who is probably the target audience for a podcast about history, I’ve got to say you guys really made this hard to listen to by having Prop and the stoned audio producer on the show. I’m sure they would do great in other genres of podcast, besides this one.
-
Bob-o-doomReally good, but not a “hardcore history”An amazing podcast that gives a good history of fascist insurrections in history. They do not go in depth into the events, but deep enough for you to understand it and be able to dive deep yourself, and they are also clear about that and provide good reference material to dive into. The format is very conversational, mostly between Evans and Prop. Evans giving the historical events and his opinions, while Prop acts as a bit of a cultural translator and comedic relief (though he is a smart guy, just not as educated on the historical events as Evans). Personally I enjoyed the dynamic, though looking at the comments it’s not everyone’s cup of tea.
-
Southern Surgeon5 starBrilliant podcast. Most negative reviews are from the baby fascist in our country. Prop can be buffoonish at time which is a shame because he is so smart. Appreciate him providing the black American perspective , but also provided cringe worthy takes.
-
HeatherpdxInformative, butI really enjoyed Behind the Police and assume I will enjoy this series as well. However I’m not sure how one can be so informed and knowledgeable about history, but can’t be bothered to realize that Andrea is the Italian variant of Andrew and is a male name. And even if one didn’t bother to check that, making fun of it comes off as a bit homophobic. Yikes.
-
falconidaeShocking RealityThe reviews that are critical because they are against labeling the perpetrators who stormed the capitol as fascists do not understand the history of what a fascist actually is. Which, unsurprisingly is why they probably called Antifa fascists🤦🏾. These criminals indeed are fascists, whether they actually understand it or not, as subversion of a free election by force demands one to be. Here’s to hoping for painfully long and strict prison sentences, unlike those following the beer hall putsch.
-
MikeyFreedomGarbageAbsolute nonsense
-
QueerdadFormat needs workProp needs a more equal role—he is smart and funny and I find it weird that he has to pretend to be totally uninformed.
-
JoJoRabbit11Blatant biased takes.Calling what happened on January 6th a fascist action is intellectually dishonest. Wanted to like the show but if you want to see everything from a hard left perspective this is the show for you.
-
Suhk MahdikhYou should listenI’m a big fan of Robert. I like Prop, too. I actually got around to listening to Prop’s “Hood Politics” podcast bc of this podcast. Listen to this podcast bc we’re living through a historic time right now and we need to know the historic context of today. History is a tool for you if you know it, a weapon against you if you don’t.

jessica roooski💜Love it :)
-
Free Thinker 2024The Worst of America Right HereTalk about painting with a broad brush. This podcast is the worst.
-
GwenfarrMaybe a definition of Fascist would help this guyThis podcast is a joke, and actually harmful to people who will buy his nonsense. This podcast is full of race baiting and inaccurate information. I’d skip it if I were you.
-
Pinky bit insane infernapeThis is goodI enjoy prop’s perspective on these things and find him almost as informing as Robert.
-
Amo0927FraudThe host is an absolute fraud. The entire podcast is based on a lie.
-
Mike13leaFearmongering at its finestIf you hate America and it’s constitution, and want 1984 to play out in real life, this is the show for you! Enjoy!
-
Delancey517‘Anti’ fascism... yea okThis guys opinion on ‘anti-fascists’ is literally just fascism, but race based and emotional, rather than factual and actually productive. This podcast should be considered a work of fiction
-
goodinfobadcommentaryFillerI’m sorry, but I really can’t listen because of the board operator gal. She sounds high all the time. Not the kind of person that is high all the time but is super funny. She’s the kind of person that is high all the time that you don’t want to hang around but she is friends with your friends so you have to.
-
AndyCat3Wanted to like it.I tuned in because I was hoping for a Hardcore History type pod about insurrections and fascism. The host seems to know what he’s talking about but the other people make it unlistenable. Why is this in conversation format? Cut them out and dial up the info.
-
RozzpkGreat informative and entertaining showGreat informative and entertaining show
-
Proteus008Should be a solo showwith just Robert. It would be so much more focused
-
FlaygrintIn defense of PropagandaYes, Prop’s commentary often interrupts the flow, but ... 1) he’s an enjoyable personality, 2) not every listener can follow everything Robert is laying out, so Prop breaking certain parts down/asking a question, etc. can be helpful to many, 3) while Robert’s histories are typically enthralling, his uninterrupted voice is a bit too soothing and can cause one to drift off into other thoughts, fall asleep at the wheel, or collapse into a spontaneous nap while jogging. Prop breaks up the sometimes-monotone to keep things lively. Don’t let them get you down, Prop! And Robert, don’t let me get you down!
-
fifi la gringaI love this show but “will you accept this rose” is obnoxiousI know y’all need the revenue, but jeezus Christ, please don’t air that add anymore.
-
Joshua/BrooklynLet Evans take overThis podcast is too crucial for its current format. Please drop all speakers except Evans and cut time in half. Make it tighter. No offense to Propaganda or other voices. I just don’t understand why this is a conversation format. I literally just binged ‘It Could Happen Here’ because Evans’ knack for high information storytelling is all that is needed for such compelling and complicated topics. Thanks to all of you for all of your important work!
-
MermaidemGreat showLove everything you do, Robert. I love Prop’s music and his personality but when getting through bits of history, I wish it was more succinct. You and prop are funny and fun when talking about what you did over the weekend but props commentary on your history essays are mostly filler noise and repetitive rhetorical phrases. I feel this way about your other stuff prop is on but it’s a hard criticism to give because I think he’s great. He just doesn’t add much to the subject matter and ends up breaking up the good pace of the story with annoying unfinished sentences and silent outrage. Idk maybe if he just did a bit less interjecting it would be more tolerable. I’m gonna go buy some prop merch now because I feel terrible about this.
-
sarahlin<3ExcellentProp is my favorite reoccurring cohost and I appreciate his insights. I also appreciate how they can be at times goofy and lighthearted but also take the subject seriously
-
pickles' musicshockingly lightheartedtrying to explain to people that “it’s about insurrections, but like... it’s fun” can be very difficult, but i really enjoy learning the history in an approachable way. no one listens to a podcast to feel like they’re reading a textbook. they listen to it for entertainment. this show does a great job of combining education with entertainment to actually help people understand history. i love that prop is there also because he often asks the questions that i want the answers to. great show!!
-
Happy10531Should be Robert alone on this PodcastThe main Podcaster is excellent and full of info. His sidekick (Prop?) REALLY is annoying and adds so little even though he interrupts quite frequently. Was really interested in this, but got TOTALLY turned off.
-
jancmmWhat a shameWhat a shame. This is such interesting material. But it’s like trying to teach history to a seventh grade class. All the childish remarks, it’s unlistenable. I mean, arguing whether Herman Goering was hot? What are you, 13?
-
sahilratesappsPeople keep rating this 3 stars because the black man is talkingAssociating the white man’s tone and diction with intelligence is just a habit of white supremacy. The black dude is just as intelligent, he just speaks differently than the white dude.
-
AustinPicayuneBeavis & Butt-head explain FascismIt's a nice try but it's irritating to listen to because the hosts talk like MTV VJ rejects. However, I wouldn't expect less from the shell company Clear Channel uses.
-
Sartre lushCut out the other hosts talkingJust tell the history instead of clowning out an annoying conversation from the history. Maybe just invite on one co-host who’ll make smart, coherent remarks perhaps? I love history but the constant interruptions really drove down the likability of this podcast.
-
Ino MorthnuMaybe this will inspire young people to care...I find the constant slang to be like a foreign language, and to me it sounds ignorant and degrades the conversation, but if this is the language of those who need to be more engaged and informed, I hope it speaks to them.
