Relative Unknown

5,589

From the creators of Root of Evil comes a new documentary series about the stories and family we can't escape. Jackee Taylor has been hidden in WITSEC, better known as the Witness Protection Program, for almost 40 years. But after a strange and violent incident reveals secrets about her past, Jackee begins a journey to find out the truth about herself, and her family. Hers is a twisted tale of darkness, murder, mystery, tragedy, and resilience, which traverses the country, and lands in the most violent era of one of the country’s most violent cities - 1970s Cleveland. At the heart of this story is Jackee’s relative - a former member of the world’s most powerful motorcycle club, a sociopath, a killer, and an informant. Jackee can't move forward unless she reconciles with his past. She’s finally telling this story in the hopes that others don't have to live the kind of life that she has.Relative Unknown is an Audacy original.

    Wonderful and terrible.
The story was fascinating but Jackee was the absolute heart of it. She conveys the love, hate, heartbreak and loneliness that she was subjected to. So sincere and heartbreaking. ❤️

This story was INSANE. I appreciated how raw the host was about her emotions, and as someone so actively involved in the story she gets amazing access.

I will never forget the terror!
I’ll never forget the terror I felt as a kid when the Hails Angeles terrorized our family while camping.

    The problem was dad
Not the witness protection program. Did you actually read his “manuscript” that outlined who he was, seriously!?! You were in the position, in the protection program BECAUSE of your father’s actions; his crimes and his choice to flip. Your ire is misdirected, luv.

    I get it
I thought the podcast was amazing and she did a great job of covering lots of different angles. Billings, Montana is in my neck of the woods so I can only appreciate what a shock; it was in the winter - going from Florida to Montana. We are similar age so I could understand the lifestyle differences, and how Montana can be somewhat of a culture shock during that time in the 80s as we are of similar age. Jack, you did a great job. Keep up the good fight. Would like to see bonus podcast with any updates on your fight for changes with Witsec.

    Told well
Jackie is the monster, not her father. I don’t think we’re getting the full story here.

    Inspriational
I am amazed, not just at the story, but how well produced and how well the story was told. Raw honesty from everyone. Thank you.

    Thank you
I really enjoyed this and I really related to Jackie. Not the same circumstances but i understand the love a daughter has for her Father is really strong. It’s like no matter what they do you always love them.

    Captivating story
Kudos to this storyteller who had to have enormous strength and mental courage to process all this and come out better in the end. I have enormous respect for her end goal. Living in the US is a privilege and freedom is sacrosanct, but our government is not perfect and should never be assumed to be flawless. When a flaw is found, it is up to us to fix it for the good of all humanity. Rock on, girl!!

    Incredibly done
This podcast, and the raw nature of the material was portrayed so well. The pain, the sadness and the actual story was portrayed with such care I am almost speechless. I listen to podcasts daily, and this is one of the most real displays of personal experience I’ve ever come across. Deserves all of 5 stars. Maybe more

    Only one person to blame
Love C13 originals. Love the narrators, the rawness and the different subject matters. This podcast at times was difficult to listen to however. I questioned whether I wanted to continue listening. I know she gets it that her father was a hardened narcissistic sociopath that raped, killed and probably enjoyed most of it. It’s sad that kids and wives get caught up in these criminal’s lives. She has one person to blame, that’s her father. I give her kudos to tell the cautionary tale of life in organized crime and how it doesn’t hurt the criminals but instead their families. I feel badly that she was dealt a horrible hand when it came to “fathers”. I think it would have been even more profound had it not been reduced to “the government is bad”. Her story is tragic and bravely told. I only wish that the story had kept a focus.

    Awesome!
Great story. Couldn’t stop listening-kept me wanting more with every episode. All of the areas around Ohio I’m very familiar with so this made it even better.

    Intense and Tragic
I listened to the entire pod today. You are so brave to reveal your story and I wish you luck with your endeavor to change WITSEC. Don’t let your light go out!

    Outstanding!
As a life-long Clevelander, this story had my attention as I remember a lot of what was happening back then. Jackee and the staff did an amazing job!

    Incredibly interesting but very violent
Fascinating story on a topic I knew nothing about. More violence and graphic details than other crime podcasts so be warned. What a crazy world they lived in.

    Powerful Story
Well done. Gripping story. Also loved the theme song.

    Wonderful podcast; ill-fitting intro song
It made no sense in the context at all. Great podcast though.
  • KimLep
    Great story told with compassion
Jackee tells her family’s story from a human, compassionate perspective. She approaches her father’s legacy with a socially scientific perspective while humanizing it and making it relatable to many people. This topic is very much worthy of public attention even if it is an uncomfortable subject. Well done!

    Interesting Life
Super well produced podcasts. Shows a different life style the segments with some of the old Angels is good. Gang mentality is such a strange scenario worth a listen. What he did to his family was crazy he was definitely a serial killer.
  • neitherpinknorpale
    Raw, real, incredibly well-done
Fantastic podcast, beautifully produced. But the true heart and soul is Jackie herself.

Thank you so much for sharing! I loved listening to your story.. I’m so sorry for all of the hurt! You are so brave and strong, and I love your heart to help the others not properly cared for in the WitSec program.. thank you again for bringing light to this unnecessary injustice.

    Excellent
This podcast is done so well! Jackie your story is unbelievable, literally. You are incredibly strong and brave to share it. You have great storytelling abilities!
  • LB to the Sea
    Interesting story, whiny pov
The story itself is interesting but somewhat confusing in the beginning. And then it gradually becomes clear that the narrator blames the government for all her problems as opposed to her father who chose to murder people. It just gets really hard to sympathize with her after a while.

    Great Stuff
Great Job Jackee! Love the original stories from the characters that new, it’s so authentic and Raw and real, many years ago I hired a couple hells angels who told me similar stories and shared a great deal. This is the last generation to get stories like this!! True, raw and a fleeting era!!! Sincere Regards, Ron

    Loved this!!!
Very good story. Very well done.

    Good story
Glad I listened. Jackie did a good job of sharing her dad’s story, but sadly, she puts herself as a victim in all circumstances. You can’t help the family you are born into but you get to make decisions on your own life. The FEDS had nothing to do with her dads choices.
