Billy Joel A to Z

57

A funny and informative podcast discussing every Billy Joel song from A to Z.

I'm Elon Altman -- and I'm Dave Juskow -- and this is the Billy Joel A to Z Podcast. We're two comedians who love Billy Joel. We enjoy praising his great songs and ripping on, well, you know, "All You Wanna Do is Dance" 😉

We are going to review and talk about every song Billy Joel has ever written. We had the idea to do this podcast because we wanted to talk about "Zanzibar," but, unfortunately we decided to go through Billy Joel's catalog alphabetically, so expect our "Zanzibar" discussion in two years. Every episode we do a deep dive into a particular song. We talk rankings, make fun of Billy's hilarious music videos, tell funny stories, and do trivia and song parodies too.

So join us on this fun journey with new song episodes every Tuesday.

Some of our research and content comes from a terrific site called - https://www.onefinalserenade.com/

    Fun
Good podcast, but I’m so bothered by the fact that they consider articles when alphabetizing. A & The songs are all under A & T, which is so wrong for anyone who loves grammar.

My favorite podcast to listen to.
This is my absolute favorite podcast. I’m only 19, and have been a billy joel fan my entire life (not on the Vienna train even though it’s a great song). I’ve seen Billy 3 times including his “final” MSG show. This is definitely my favorite podcast to listen to because of how in depth they go when reviewing songs. I also love the comedic bits thrown into the episodes; I really never get bored listening to this podcast. I also love both of your opinions about the songs, because mine are very similar. Personally my favorite songs are the more deep cuts, and alot of his earlier stuff (before The Bridge album), so i tend to listen to those episodes a lot. If you’re looking for a podcast about everything Billy Joel, this is by far the best one.

    Very entertaining
These two guys do their homework! Very engaging and entertaining. Lots of research and original content. Gave the covenanted five stars even though they once both showed little respect for the multi talented and glamorous Sheena Easton !!! Looking forward to your “ Zanzibar “ review!! Keep up the good work guys !

    This one’s for the boys
Hosts are not nearly as funny as they think they are. You won’t get through an episode without hearing that supermodels are hot. Another recurring theme - insults directed at Joel’s first wife, whom they deem not attractive enough to have deserved love songs written about her.

    A Matter of Trust
All the other podcasts I follow managed to put out an episode this week (the week between Christmas and New Years) These podcasts focus on world events, true crime and science breakthroughs. All of these podcasts require research, investigation, planning, recording, editing etc… your podcast revolves around the two of you jabbering about a Billy Joel song and someone singing a parody at the end, yet somehow you couldn’t manage to put out a podcast this week….

    Funny and educational!
I love listening to this podcast! It’s clear that a lot of research goes into each episode. The podcast is refreshing because Dave and Elon don’t spend the whole time fanboying Billy Joel. in fact, I find myself disagreeing with both Dave and Elon every so often. Dave Juskow’s occasional rants should inspire a weird Elon parody called “Cranky Old Man”. I think it’s hilarious that Dave is probably twice Elon’s age, but Elon is the voice of reason. Give this podcast a try. You won’t be disappointed and you will get hooked!

    Excellent
Really entertaining and interesting if you’re a Billy Joel fan. These guys are great. Love it! Lee up the great work!

    Love this show
If you grew up with Billy Joel’s music, as I did, these two will exhume and revive your passion for it. They have great chemistry and seem to have been pacing themselves marvelously. Usually on these kinds of shows, by know the hosts can barely disguise their boredom with the subject matter. I think there is a decent chance they could still like Billy Joel by the time they get to “Zanzibar.”

    My Billy Joel Outlet
I’ve been tweeting my love for Billy Joel into the void for a long time now. I’ve got friends who are fans as well, and I’ve been to a few of his concerts with them, but they’re not people who would want to endlessly talk about Billy’s music either. So this podcast has become my outlet for Billy Joel discussion! Elon and Dave, forgive me if I tweet at you often about your episodes.

    Big Pod On Mulberry Street
I just discovered this show and binged the entire run through the Fs (in my own order, ha). Lots of fun. The hosts clearly love the man and his music, and it’s interesting to hear their takes, entertaining to follow their talents, and side-splitting to laugh at their humor. Can’t wait to binge the next block of episodes in six months!

A must listen for Billy Joel fans!!
Two comedians with different appreciations for Billy Joel and his music guide listeners through Billy Joel’s published music, song-by-song in alphabetical order… 121 songs. Includes guest interviews with ties to Joel’s music and/or various aspects of his career, facts and trivia related to each piece of music, and quirky yet funny banter that’s very entertaining. Both these guys are in the NY/NJ area which adds unique perspectives and a greater understanding of geographical references in Billy’s music. Dave is older and Elon is younger, so their 15 or so year difference in age also adds insight to types of Billy Joel fans and various perceptions of his music. I’ve been listening to this pod from the beginning, and now that we’re 42 episodes in, I’m completely hooked. I have been a HUGE Billy Joel fan since I was 8 years old, and after 40 years, these guys have added to my knowledge base and expanded my love for this crazy-talented artist. Do yourself a favor and tune in…so much fun!

    What fandom is all about
Loving this show! Elon and Dave strike a perfect balance of different outlooks, while still being able to represent the billy joel Super-fan in all of us. As hard as it’s going to be to wait for their commentary on “Vienna,” Elon has already assured me that Vienna waits for you.

Very amusing, filled with interesting factoids
Great fun, especially if you’re a Billy Joel fan. Both hosts bring interesting perspectives with an excellent sense of humor.

    Love !
As a Billy Joel fan it’s great to hear other fans talk about the lesser known songs. Even if you don’t know the songs, the banter, trivia and song parodies keep it really interesting.
