Engrossing tales read by a man with a cold, apparently.
I like these stories so much that I choose to “just deal with” the narrator’s voice.

    Update! Mid Beach Bod
Update: I had to pause partway through recently released, “Beach Body” bc the ep is that freaking good. The story is soooooo well told. and the dialogue is absolutely hilarious. This show slaps. OG Review If you’re a fan of any/all Soren Narnia work, The Other Stories, etc., then this will also be right up your creepy alley. Cerebral, slow & well delivered.

    Needs some work
I'll start off by saying I have not been able to finish an episode yet. The stories seem like they'd be a good listen, but the narration and audio need some work. First is the pacing, it's like the narrator is trying to win a race, barely taking a breath between points of punctuation so much so that it starts to sound like one hour long run-on sentence (see Gatlinburg). I have noticed in more recent stories like Werewolves the natos trying to control it, but still slips into it. Then there is the use of music during the story. Again I'll reference Werewolves from 2023. The use of music or sound effects in a story can help convey the mood, but here it's like the music track is playing at the same level as the voice track. When it sounds like the narrator is fighting with the music to be heard, it creates a muddied aural experience for listeners. In short, if the narrator would focus first on cadence and then on mixing levels, I think the show could be great. Right now, it's a difficult listen.

    Getting really good
This podcast has been hit or miss for a long time, but I really feel like the writing and narration have started to improve. Both the stories and the prose. The most recent episode “Haunt” I thought had a great tone to it and was genuinely unsettling. This style of audio drama—horror anthology with minimal production and stripped down narration is extremely hard to pull off. If it had been an episode of Knifepoint Horror it would not felt out of place to me. In fact, I might even rank it as one of the better ones. “A macabre Snapple fact” - that was the moment when I decided to start writing this review.

High quality stories, low quality production
Slow building, creatively creepy stories that will satisfy fans of Knifepoint Horror and Acephale. Only issue is low production quality. Narrator repeats himself as if multiple takes weren’t edited out. Background noises audible in vocal tracks. Music (especially intro) sometimes mixed too loud, distracting from narration. Would love to see these addressed if there are any future episodes, which seems uncertain.

    Nolan! Bring back the stories…
Discovered these great stories. Fantastic stories and effects narration. Slow buildup to scary end. Please give us more stories.

    So far so good
Im only 3 stories in but so far they are really good. Definitely similar to knifepoint horror, which is a compliment! My only critique is the narrator sounds like he has a really bad cold or is pinching his nose while reading and it’s distracting. Sorry i know thats kind of dickish but just trying to give my honest review. Im definitely going to listen to the whole collection.

The New Breed of Horror Anthology
“Goblin Market” has absolutely nothing to do with Dungeons & Dragons swords and sorcery type-stuff. What it IS is the perfect, emblematic podcasting example of a horror & thriller anthology for the 2020’s; there are (thank God) a few other amazing podcasts that provide a more modern way to fill our minds with today’s form of “dread” horror - but “Goblin Market might be the very best at throwing their NewType scary stories right in our faces, where they can enter our ear canals, gnaw into the brain to get deep into our subconsciousness’, searching out homes within our dream-stuff for those “impossible to forget” literary narratives of the bizarre. (Other fantastic podcast stories of Horror: “Acephale” comes immediately to mind; “A Darker Tale”, several stories from “Horror Hill”... ”Twisted Mirror”. “Wrong Station”. And anything written by Soren Narnia (even though Knifepoint Horror started quite a while ago, his ‘voyeur’s-eye-view’ of hellish nightmares has always been years ahead of nearly everyone else in the field).)
