Best AM short news summary update
After trying a bunch of others, this is my go-to every day. Update: This remains true many months later.

    Ayesha needs to go
Ayesha unscripted is painful to listen to. She’s the least insightful and her questions are mediocre at best. She’s the main reason I’ve skipped an episode.

    Hate the hypocrisy
I listen to this show every morning but getting tired of the hypocrisy shown on the show. And it keeps getting worse with each episode.

    Up First
Short, information is well researched. A great way to start my day off. Thankful for the podcast. GC Really look forward to getting the Podcasts. Would prefer a more mature greeting: “Hey there .....” is more tuned to greeting horses. Have my High School students to listen and write a review for extra credit. There is HOPE for future from these insightful young people. Thanks for giving my students something to learn from besides me. Dr. GC “Hey”. I don’t appreciate the silly response opening today. Normally hosts sound professional. 7/21 reminds me of 2 immature teens. Long “Heeeey “ and attempts to answer phone was unprofessional. Almost turned off but rest of podcasts was good. Dr, GC Please stop long litany of those contributing to producing show. Boring and it is their job. Takes too long to hear list. Deleted another podcast for this issue. Hopefully you can see my message and STOP repeating whom to thank. Dr. GC Still hearing long litany of helpers. Not sure if it is necessary to daily report on people doing their job. Imagine they are paid for their work? Thanks, Dr.GC Once again like podcasts but dislike long litany of people that need thanks. Waste of time to hear all people earning money with fragile egos. Do they really have to hear their names listed? Dr. GC Tired of poor speech: Yeah, I mean, like, you know etc. Lazy speech isn’t a hood example of educated, well informed people. AP students in my high school class are encouraged to sound educated in speech and writing. Poor speech is a lazy habit and can be changed. Dr. GC Ph. D. Still dislike being addressed as “ Hey.” Doesn’t seem educated. How about Good morning? Dr. GC Really like podcast but so tired of long list of staff members who are paid getting named. Maybe once a month instead of every time. Dr. GC Would it be possible to address audience as “ hello” or “ good morning” instead of “ hey”? Sounds uneducated and disrespectful. 11/9/24 Dr. GC
  • Israel Is home
    Israeli soccer fans attacked.
I can’t believe I used to be a daily listener. And that you equated the violence against Israeli soccer fans with a slur said by them. They were stabbed and had their teeth kicked out and thrown into the canals by mobs. You also fail to mention that the attackers were Islamist immigrants. What a joke. Political correctness at the expense of a truthful picture. So shameful

    Mehhh
Hate how ghetto the host sounds. It’s tiresome and not what I want to hear on NPR, of all places.

    Used to enjoy the coverage
The way that they have covered Gaza and anything remotely related to the g3n0c!d3 there is blatantly biased, I can no longer take NPR seriously.

    Disappointed
I thought NPR was neutral. So disappointed in the coverage from 11/09/24 and the misinformation and lies they are spreading/where paid to spread. Israeli football fans created havoc in Amsterdam, they started it. Why are you defending their hatred and allowing it to seep into your organization? My donations to NPR will cease

    Really it’s got to stop
November 7 and 8 you did not cover any news. November 8 you started by seeding doubt using a superfluous concern, and then focused on speculation of the new administration’s actions. Meanwhile the German economy is collapsing, Israeli soccer players are attacked, and there are ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and Israel. You will lose listeners. You will lose ad supporters. Time to get back to your job of just broadcasting the news. Or if you want to impress your audience, be a reconciling force. You’ve been wrong for too long in your positions.

    Great source of news!
Short, simple and accurate. Up First is a great addition to your morning/day! I read a bunch of the bad reviews others left, and seems like they are just upset Up First doesn’t tell them the news opinion they WANT hear… Go figure.

    Leans more left over time
“We, The Voters”, why did the reporters tone change when speaking about a group of people that feel shamed for supporting Harris but your reporters didn’t even speak the part about students not feeling comfortable sharing their support for Trump, you had an interviewee do it. You have no integrity. You just did it again on this Final Campaign Stop episode. Why do you have a reporter upbeat and optimistic when it talking about Harris but then switch to the most depressing sounding human I’ve ever heard to talk about Trumps campaign? If you can’t hire unbiased reporters, you need to hire some conservatives

    Ratings vs Reviews
I don’t often listen, but it’s a good quality show, very brief. But wow, the reviews on this are toxic nonsense on both sides.

    Not a reputable news source
Irresponsible, biased, opinion-based, and unprofessional reporting. This podcast no longer reports the news but infuses its own opinion into its stories. Where is the information gathering and journalist integrity?

    Biased Reporting
Can you please try to pride balanced and unbiased content. I am NOT a Trump supporter and will not be voting for him BUT it is sooooo clear that these hosts only present negative news about Trump and positive news about Harris. I just want an objective news program!!!

    Why lie?
Yahya Sinwar’s death did not happen as told by Hadil Alshalchi, which is something anyone with a Twitter account can tell you. Look up the Israeli coverage of his death - he did not die because a building collapsed on him. It took a tank, a missile, a drone and finally a sniper to bring about his end. All very well documented. So why lie? I know the answer, do you?

    NPR We Can Do Better
I want to love NPR, but every time I listen I feel frustrated that it is like all the rest “news reporting” so bipartisan. National public radio should be more unbiased. Just report the news. Using partisan phrasing marginalized the moderate audience, who I believe is the majority of America right now. We need straight information not more biased opinions.

    Tax Funded Dishonesty
Reporters give Gaza the empathy that they won't give Ohio who is also suffering from immigration issues. No on the ground reporting just recirculating far left ideas. So sad.

Too biased. You clearly do not care if “right leaning” listeners tune in to your show. However, our taxes help finance NPR, so how about facts without an agenda. You guys could and should do so much better.

Used to be a huge fan
NPR has fallen so far. Your interview with Coates is the last straw for me and I’m unsubscribing after 2 decades of listening. Less than 10% of NPR listeners are black, yet the reporting staff at the organization is obsessed with spreading radical ideologies that promote tribalism. There are no registered Republicans on staff at NPR. I’m not a conservative. I’m a liberal white woman with an advanced degree, your “ideal audience”, and I know the lack of diversity in opinions is a huge problem with the reporting.

    Poor choices
Let’s not interview people who say that, had they grown up on different circumstances, they’d probably have ended up raping Jewish women to death, because, wouldnt you? Seems like a poor choice.
  • five1three
    Slanted and biased election coverage
It would be great if every election “news report” didn’t sound like a Kamala Harris political ad. Try and have a shred of journalistic neutrality. The obvious slant is very cringe. I have 2nd hand embarrassment for you with your political coverage. Please do better. Also the pro-hamas and anti Israel coverage is disgusting. You should be ashamed.

    And Now You’ve lost me
I’m a long time listener and consider myself an independent who is struggling to decide on who to vote for. That latest segment by Layla on KH supporters vs DT supporters outside of Detroit was ridiculous. You allow the first guy to say DT will bring back Jim Crow with no pushback. As much as I don’t like DT, this is an asinine statement and clearly false. Then you don’t voice the others who are DT supporters because they are too sexist? Sounds like maybe you are pushing an agenda… Here’s a thought, do your job as a journalist

This is a fine source to receive (usually bland) daily news updates, but sometimes the journalists speak entirely too fast and it’s irritating. There’s literally no reason to speak so fast - it doesn’t make you seem smarter or more prepared - and I would appreciate a more conversational sound. I hope they incorporate this feedback.

    Great but some small problems
I really like this podcast, gives me the news. However whenever its talking about politics, I can tell through listening that it is a little biased towards democrats. It always talks negatively about trump, so maybe don't make it very biased. Also, on Saturdays, let Ayesha Roscoe have more speaking time, let her ask some of the questions instead of all Scott Simon. If you follow this advice, thanks! Keep up the good work, up first.

Report the news with a pretending to know the truth
There is a moral equivocation in the comparison of how Israel and Palestine are marking the one year anniversary of an unbelievably violent and unprovoked attack. Hamas is the aggressor, Hezbollah has fired rockets daily in unity with Hamas. The civilians are innocent victims but you need to emphasize how Hamas embeds itself among civilians to deter attacks. You also falsely suggest that Hamas has offered to give up all hostages-considering many have died in there possession. Gross UF!

    Now mostly ads
How many minutes of pre-roll ads does a show theoretically for the public’s benefit want me to listen to? After 30+ years of NPR, I’ve switched to the NYT and am not missing this!

Not even attempting to be politically neutral
Did I just listen to a pro-terrorist news piece? I am an avid NPR listener and was quite shocked to hear the journalist in this morning’s episode so casually discuss Hezbollah, emphasizing their “determination” while underplaying that they are a terrorist organization whose crimes have been heinous. What is happening to journalism?!
  • Em685
    Unconscionable
Your episode on Nasrallah is unconscionable. You refer to a known terrorist as a “spiritual and political leader” - this is a man who had American blood on his hands and not once did you acknowledge that - not once! Your “reporting” makes it seem like a beloved hero was unjustly murdered…you talk about the apparent remorse of people on the ground and yet say nothing about the celebrations taking place in Syria and also by Lebanese that have suffered at the hands of this horrible man. Our President (and VP) didn’t have a hard time calling Nasrallah what he was - why can’t you? This is beyond bad journalism - it’s whitewashing and misinformation. You guys should be held accountable

Oct 1st, 2024 Episode Felt Imbalanced
I listen to NPR Up First every morning, and usually appreciate that the podcast shows a more balanced approach to most stories. The coverage of the Israeli conflict today in the Oct 1st, 2024 Up First episode, did not feel like a balanced perspective when it came to Israel. The reporters are emphasizing how Lebanon is being attacked and the suffering of the Lebanese people (which of course, we all have empathy for everyone suffering from war, always), but it doesn't explain why Israel really needs to do their operation in Lebanon (which is because Israeli civilians are being attacked and displaced to start with- something Israelis have been suffering with for years on-end). Someone who isn't familiar with this conflict would be lead to think that Israel is engaging in this war out of pure aggression (and would be lead to think that Israel started the conflict), rather than self-defense and preventing present and future rocket attacks from coming into civilian areas in Israel. It also doesn't acknowledge that the only reason we aren't seeing more deaths inside Israel is because of the technology Israel has created to shoot down rockets. If it wasn’t for Israel’s technology, the brutality of the attacks initiated and conducted by Hezbollah would be more obviously seen and reported on because of the casualties. This nuance is important to report on in order to educate people on the full story. Thanks so much for taking the time to take this feedback into consideration!

Iran doesn’t care how many Lebanese or Palestinians die.
Your coverage of the Middle East offers a conspicuous absence and neglect of the position of Israel. Iran overtly aims to destroy that nation. Iran will by proxy sacrifice every citizen in places like Lebanon by first infiltrating daily social infrastructure. Then make people dependent on them. Then destroy its host. Like the creature from the film Alien. It will run a sword through Palestinian children in order to stab at Israel. Why don’t you people dig deeper and go after the real monsters here?
