The hosts are incredibly knowledgeable! I’ve only played commander a handful of times as an obsessive constructed player. I’ve still listened to every episode. I find this show oddly soothing. Great information and good vibes all around!

I’ve been playing Magic off and on since 1994. After a few years away I wanted to catch up with what was going on with Commander and after listening to several podcasts I’ve found the best and this is it.

I’ve been listening to CommanderTheory for years now, and it’s just such a fun time. I don’t get to play as much as I’d like, but the show really helps me make the most of my time. All of the episodes feel like the correct length, with neither host ever going on lengthy sidebars or anything that would derail the focus. Everything is approachable, and the hosts are just cool, considerate people. Great time!

I have listened for a few years now and can’t recommend them highly enough. I have even re-listened to their old episodes from years ago multiple times. Nick & Zak thread the needle between both being kind & considerate people while also giving advise and insight on how to make Commander decks and evaluate cards that is unparalleled and always worth my time. I listen to a lot of mtg content and this podcast consistently both improves my expertise, helps me find neat cards before they spike in their set reviews. Give them a try for both a set review episode and a normal episode. You won’t regret it.

The last few episodes have been unnumbered, just thought I’d mention because when new episodes come out you have to scroll to the bottom to find them. Anyway, love the podcast- fantastic content, thank you for all you do! Keep it up!

If you are interested in leveling up your EDH game in a focused meta and actually care about thoughtful theory behind commander, this podcast is absolutely required listening. These guys are in depth and thorough and always get my brain storming with interesting brews and set reviews.

You guys are great! I love your data dives and your views of the format as a whole. My favorite episodes are the custom cards, where you propose ways to fix the format's problems. One problem: your budget episodes are pretty far from budget. $200 is not the minimum for a deck, and the fact that you guys call that a budget episode is kind of absurd. That idea that you have to spend more than $100 on a deck is one of the things that the format definitely does not need.

There are many EDH podcasts now, but almost all of them cover either the competitive EDH format, which is a very different landscape than “normal” commander, or (more commonly) rather casual podcasts. Casual EDH is very fun and there is nothing wrong with it, but as time goes on commander gets more and more refined. Commander Theory is the podcast that covers EDH players who want to build optimized decks as well as players who want to understand more about the format that they spend so much time in. Keep up the great work!

Nick and Zak really know EDH/Commander inside and out, and love every part of it... and you can tell! But, the podcast is also really approachable for newer players (which is great), while being very interesting and enjoyable for more invested players. Please keep the podcast going!

These guys have the best Commander podcast on the web. They know the format inside and out, and always talk about interesting topics. I'd easily recommend this podcast to anyone with an interest in MTG.
