The Leviathan Chronicles | The Rapscallion Agency

3,060

Set shortly after the events of the award-winning podcast The Leviathan Chronicles, The Rapscallion Agency continues the adventures of its two youngest characters, Lisette Mainsabiles and Paul Lee (aka Cluracan) who moved to Paris and use their unique skills to start a business, navigate young love, and lovingly care for a cybernetic rat. After converting a bakery van into their mobile hi-tech headquarters, Lisette and Cluaracan explore Paris by calling upon old acquaintances to help them find work for their new agency, But during a professional ‘audition’, Lisette and Cluracan are double-crossed, managing to escape with a priceless research asset that makes them a target of a powerful international conglomerate, VeyTech Pharmaceutical. As they try to decode the mystery in their possession, they have to stay alive as they are ruthlessly hunted by an assassin with a metal arm while figuring out who they can really trust to help them escape France.
The Leviathan Chronicles is a full cast audio drama about a race of immortals that have been secretly living in a hidden city called Leviathan, deep under the Pacific Ocean. For centuries, the utopian society has existed in peace, gently influencing world events on the surface. But soon, a civil war erupts between the immortals that wish to stay hidden, and those that want to integrate fully with the rest of mankind on the surface. A clandestine division of the CIA known as Blackdoor discovers the immortals’ existence and seeks to eliminate the perceived threat that they represent to U.S. sovereignty. Soon, a three-way war erupts across the globe as each faction fights for supremacy, leaving the fate of the world hanging in the balance.

    "Presents"
Seems that this podcast has died and turned into an advertisement platform as many other have.

On the up and straight off a cliff
Perfect, except the last season. They branched off and did a season with two background characters. They’re in France it’s corny and badly written. All other season were great.

    Spoiler warning:
Seinshun had such a sudden and quick death, it was kind of weird, but overall, this is a great podcast. Except for season four. This was such a great podcast, but spinning off with Cluracan and Lissete was an awful idea.

Starts off good, then just drops down hard
The first three seasons were fantastic. There is some violence and torture in season 3, so be warned. The first three seasons deserve 5 stars. Season 4 is a disaster. Not sure how you take a solid gripping story for 3 seasons and then decide to ruin it with season 4. Season 4 deserves 1 star only. So I give it 3 stars for the average.

    Incomplete episode / missing
Like the show a lot, but was listening to Episode #43 and it got abruptly cut, the it moves on to Episode #44 and the title being “The Buffer station Part II”…..never saw/heard a part I….and never heard the ending of episode #43

Only listen to first three seasons
The first three seasons were great. Great story line and constant action. Very good show up until season four. The spin off with Lisette and Clurican was terrible writing and voice acting. They made Clurican a bumbling idiot for no reason and the whole premise of season four was terrible. I’ll check out season 5 if they make one, but hopefully it’s an improvement over season 4.

    First 3 seasons are incredible!
I fell in love with the first 3 seasons, but season 4 has been hard to listen to. I wanted to love it! I’m on episode 11 and it’s not getting any better for me, unfortunately. I’ve been holding out hope! But the first 3 seasons are AMAZING and truly worth your time.

    An auditory delight!
‘The Leviathan Chronicles’ have been so fun to listen to! Great characters, gripping story and wonderful sound design make it a pleasure to binge on episode after episode . . . after episode!

    Fun with great flair
    Enjoyed every minute. Highly recommend!!

    Great show!
Really like these! Spin offs seem like a good idea but there could easily be more seasons of original. Keep them coming.

    Production outshines writing
Look, the idea is good, but the writing itself is just really much worse than expected from the amount of work that clearly went into the production. I think it has that feel like something written by a teenage boy: essentially no character development, emotionally flat, heavy reliance on action shoehorned in everywhere to move things along, use of irrelevant jargon, etc. My standard for a podcast is based on listening to part-improvised role playing game podcasts like The Adventure Zone, and this is a huge miss by that standard.

    Questionable writing
If you’re going to listen it’s best if you just go with it. Don’t think about the flat characterization, don’t think if anything makes sense, and definitely don’t think about some of the racist character portrayals. Also, why is the first episode of Season 3 so fat phobic?
  • Big_E!
    Great first 3 seasons
I really enjoyed the first 3 seasons. I tried to get into season 4, but by episode 7 , I just lost interest. If a season 5 comes out I’ll definitely give it a go.
  • Caticorn11
    Season 1
I have no idea how the writing managed to pull a big enough budget for a full cast production but I guess 2008 was different time. It's a good background noise podcast though especially if you have realm+.

    Kicka** show
Great show, keeps you captivated and wanting it to keep listening!
  • comomalolo
It’s ok but a little flawed
Still listening to Season 1. The story premise is fine, but I struggle overlooking plot flaws such as the main character breaking her leg three times in about a week and she is fine the next day only to break it again. Just be prepared to be ok looking past those those flaws. Update: reduced to 2 stars part way through season 2. Plot flaws getting worse and the story is getting ridiculous. Not for me.

    Give it a try
If you like SF and full-cast audio with SFX this is well worth your time.

    Ads while subscribed
I’m a paying Realm+ subscriber, but I’m still getting ads while listening to some episodes in S4. I’ve restarted my phone but they’re still present - subscription is misleading

    Listen here!
Fantastic immersive audio story. Great characters, writing and sound effects. Great long story form. Bring back the Immortals please, got to know what happens to them and all the surviving characters.

    Too much talking
I understand you need to paint a picture but OMG the narration gets so boring and long winded that I lost interest. You can skip a couple of episodes(like I did) and get caught up with the 10 minute update before each episode. I enjoy the plot the characters but gets boring at times.

    Tedious
Tedious storyline and poor character development
  • bwebbfee
    Not so much
Compared to leviathan this story has failed way short for me

    Immense Creativity A++++
The Story keeps getting more interesting as the episodes go on , the best action drama thriller And Suspense I’ve ever come across on Audio
  • Rolth
    Kind of…meh
These people talk too much. The main story is OK but everyone says way too much as the writer is trying to explain rules of their world. Also…a Viking in the year 10something has a couch when the first sofa was likely invented around 1680? There are a few things that pop up that are jarring my wrong and kind of take you out of the story.

    A Wonderful Journey
Discovered this show LONG after it started, and wish I’d discovered it sooner. What a ride.

    Season 4 is amazing
I listened to seasons 1-3 which were good and season 4 switches it up and it’s really good so far and must listen..great acting, great writing and the sounds effect r on point
  • Emilsal
Wow, just found out about Season 4! Score!
Very excited! Episode 1 off to a great start.
  • Ajbuda
    Wish I found it sooner/Glad I didn’t.
This is an awesomely done podcast. Not just a single voice narrator, but fully immersive. It is very hard to find a fictional podcast that doesn’t just immediately go with the “White American men are the devil” trope to drive the plot, and the protagonist is just a normal acting human that happens to be female. As opposed to an uber to icky male acting female. Can’t begin to explain how refreshing that is.

Great awesomeness please keep going forever
What a great podcasts. I couldn’t stop listening

    Sound effects???
What’s with all the slurping? Guys, sipping or drinking does not mean loud obnoxious SLURPING!

    Honest Review
The original seasons are unparalleled. A definite Sci-Fi recommend. The Rapscallion Agency becomes annoying as the couple’s constant arguments crowd each episode. A generous 3 stars for Rapscallion Agency. 5 stars stars for the original seasons.

THE PODCAST TO END ALL PODCASTS
Christoph is an absolute genius! This Podcast is by far the best in audio quality, storytelling,, narration, acting, character development and many other categories. Every other fictional podcast is measured by the greatness of LC in my humble opinion! This is my 3rd listen. I’m so excited about the Rapscallion story 🤙🏾

    Entertaining, but
The casual racism is unfortunate, particularly the fake Asian accents that make the characters into caricatures.

    Season 4 narrator
The new narrator for season 4 has taken the bite out of this story for me. His voice isn't as exquisite as the previous narrator. Still love the characters and the over story, but I don’t feel any excitement coming from the narrator very dull and low speaking.
  • onodrimofthenorth
Mildly entertaining often boarders on annoying
The premise of the show, as well as the music and voice acting, is very good. My main complaint is the lengthy and needles exposition. Nobody needs a 30 second explanation about every broken piece of a machine. It ends up feeling like technical filler more than interesting storytelling. These expositions are so long that they prevent one from connecting to the characters.

    Exciting and Adventurous. Highly Recommended
This show is the reason I went from barely being able to run a mile, to running four to five miles. I would just pop my earphones in and forget about everything except what I’m listening to. SO good. I’m listening to it a second time. I started listening in 2014.
  • asfaahuhkbjbkbjbw
    Quality narration
The dulcet tones of the Narrator really tie the whole thing together.

    Looking Forward
The Leviathan Chronicles was the first podcast I ever listened to, ever, back in 2015. I realized later on that not all podcasts are created equal, and that there were other podcasts that were not audio dramas. Unfortunately, for other podcasts, I measured every other audio drama by the standard set by Christof has rarely been matched, and even then, only recently with Covid shifting money from movies into audio dramas. If you enjoy sci-fi, high production quality content, immersive storytelling, and a show you cannot believe you get to consume for free, then The Leviathan Chronicles is for you. I remembered when tragedy nearly derailed Christof’s passion, and I was inspired and moved when he was able to return to finish his story. Now to know that he is continuing his story with spin-offs has brought a light back into my life. I am looking forward to the spin-offs like I have never been for any other podcast, except for the completion of the main story. Thank you, Christof for bringing us back into this world. And I am so very proud of you and happy that you have not given up on your passion, your calling, for putting out the gold standard of audio dramas.

    Amazing production
Leviathan is super special. It gives me everything I’m looking for in a podcast. I can no longer listen to fictional audio books the same, if it doesn’t have a full cast, music & sound fx.
  • Fit2BeT!3d
    Face palm worthy
If you like a collection of Sci Fi tropes this is your podcast. It is predictable, tired and a little preachy.
  • homehomehomeboom
    Truth
The first was so amazing but this doesn’t seem amazing at all…. It sounds like sir doing the narration and a knock off of season 1-3. I was really looking forward to it but….. let down greatly.

This is the best. We need this as a show or movie. I LOVE THIS.

    Titanic
The Titanic sunk in 1912 not 1911 - come on, people! It’s general knowledge history. Fire your fact checker.
  • soccerplayer73
What a sci-fi fiction podcast should be
Really well done from plot lines to acting. So many fiction podcasts try and fail but this one is really TV/movie quality in many ways
  • Ozymandias1
    Excellent. Excellent. Excellent. Excellent.
Great concept, great scripting, great acting, and great production. A rare podcasting 4/4. Truly excellent.
  • IceDancer7
    Brilliant!
I loved Leviathan Chronicles from beginning to end. The writing was brilliant. The narration was amazing. Storyline was extraordinary! I can only hope for another one as excellent as this one!
  • mattsmith0622
    Excellent show, rough acting.
This show is great. Really cool story, great characters, and the narrator does a solid job. My only complaint is a couple of the actors. The Whitt Roberts and Seinshun characters are really hard to listen to.

    Pulls you in
Great story it kept drawing me back in with every episode and couldn’t wait to move to the next episode one of the best stories I have listened too!
