I stumbled across this podcast during the holidays and binged all the episodes. I have been anxiously waiting for season 2!

I came across this podcast a few months ago and have enjoyed every episode. The facts and details surrounding the cases that are presented indicate that extensive research and effort has been used to create each story and the content is delivered in a clear and engaging way by Mira. The episodes live up to their billing as “history”…not simply a collection of media-hyped, current day legal matters but deep dives into some of the formative legal cases that have shaped and resulted in law as it played out then and continues to apply today. Some of the topics have been familiar to me and I initially thought that I knew their essence, only to find as I listened that there was far more involved than I was aware of and even things that were not as I believed. Other topics were totally new to me and provided some great information on new material. I recommend this podcast highly as a well researched and documented look into important events of the past that have bearing on us all today.

I love the subject matter but unfortunately the host makes it too difficult to listen. Her tone sounds like she’s reading a bedtime story to children.

Law and history! Covers aspects of famous events that are normally only a footnote—the trials. A match made in heaven.

Interesting concept, great topics, great research, great writing, terrible narration and presentation. Very dry and monotonous.

The content of this podcast is so good but I can’t handle how it’s told. The host talks in a tone that would be appropriate for children. Maybe this is for children? All I know is that it’s not for me.

I anxiously wait every other Thursday for a new episode to drop! Each story has been so expertly researched and written. I also like the corresponding Instagram account with pictures to make the stories come alive even more. Keep up the good work!

I really really wanted to love this podcast. It’s well researched in the subject is interesting but the delivery is so dry. It’s like listening to someone read a book to a classroom of 10-year-olds. The slow past delivery makes it hard to pay attention for a very long

I’ve been following Mira since “Jeopardy!” She just keeps getting better and better, and I enjoy her thoroughness.

The production value on this is top notch. Found out about the podcast on Jeopardy, Mira’s research and narration are first class. As a history major, I value these things deeply. I wish it wasn’t an Iheart podcast in a way because I’d gladly give money to Mira. There’s only a couple podcasts that get that level of acclaim from me.

Quickly ranked as one of my faves. Can’t get enough. Keep up the good work!

These podcasts are so well done and informative! We look forward to them so much. A case you might want to consider is the alleged murder of a young woman by the Malley brothers who were very wealthy. It took place in the New Haven, Connecticut area. I read a book, Arsenic Under the Elms, about it several years ago. I think it would be perfect for this show! Keep up the great work!!

There is not a more consistent podcast that entertains while also informs the listener as this. This show presents new (to me at least) court cases that, at most times, are aptly prescient to our unique times. Everyone has been a delight and I eagerly anticipate the next.

I’m not a history nerd. I just enjoy stories that are engaging and well told. History on Trial presents the facts and chronologies of the big stories of America’s past in a lucid and entertaining manner. I’m hooked.

Changed speed to 1.25 and the pace is perfect for me. Very informative material and engaging presentation.

Wow Mira has really outdone herself! There’s clearly so much though, research, and brilliance behind the way this podcast portrays history. I listen to this podcast every week and adore Mira’s narration and presentation of such interesting cases.

Anyone who isn’t listening to this podcast is missing out. If you are someone who likes to learn and be entertained at the same time, listen to this podcast! The only problem is that there aren’t more stories.

The writers had a great idea that unfortunately took a left turn. The narrator sprinkles in progressive trigger words such as homophobic, sexist and racist to describe what most thinking people already know was unfortunately commonplace in the era these stories take place. Dumbing down the podcast even further is the narrator’s opining on book bans of the day. Comparing removing sexually graphic novels from elementary schools to the overreaching of the nineteenth century American judicial system takes overreacting to a new level. Great idea for a podcast, too bad the team couldn’t avoid the need to be divisive.

I’m new to listening to Podcasts, but with 3 hour commute, Mira’s work makes the drive easy. Her delivery is so compelling, I feel like she is telling ME the story, not broadcasting it to an audience. My only disappointment is that she only posts every other week. With the amount of research and content she delivers I can see why!

This is my favorite new podcast! Mira delivers fascinating historical stories and I learn so much with each episode! It’s like an audiobook that I can’t stop listening to. It would be nice if they came out weekly because two weeks is too long to wait!

Another leftist leaning history podcast, twisting history and current events to make them relate. Very slow paced, almost on the verge of boring because of the narrator. It’s a last resort in my opinion, unless I’m going to sleep.

Such a fascinating and interesting podcast. Mira Hayward is a skilled narrator. She also writes the narration. She has a talent for taking dry trial facts and weaving them into a compelling story. Not only do the facts become a story, but the characters come to life. She has a distinctive and pleasant voice, making an hour-long story engaging throughout. I don’t know if she is a lawyer, but she has a good grasp of legal issues, history, and terminology. But she never gets close to turning these narratives into a legal class. Thankfully. You should give this podcast a try. The episodes don’t just recite the transcript of the trial. They are entertaining stories.

I’m really loving this new podcast. Every episode has been deeply interesting, well researched and well presented. I like the fact that she chooses trials that are not only interesting in and of themselves but also shine light on bigger issues and historical moments and movements.

This is obviously a very well-researched podcast but the music overwhelms it. Suggest using background music to highlight and dramatize key moments, instead of playing it throughout.
