kmac0121AllGood podcast but the fake laughing soundtrack is way over the top and much too frequent. Unfortunately I don’t know how much longer I will tolerate that very annoying laughing.
-
KarolinaEBLoveLove this show!! So entertaining and informative

Renosis:3annoying voice and laughterThis show is sad. The stories are great. The writing is excellent. The hosts, ummm, no thank you. Such annoying drilling voices, and also the laughter! CUT IT. Please!!!
-
BoydswagGood contentGreat content but I’m really struggling with the cackling. It’s getting to be enough to make me turn an episode off. 🫣

mary ann with no eGreat showOverall great stories and very entertaining. My only problem is the awful cackling laughter that is peppered throughout. Arisha I’m sure your don’t mean to but please stop ruining an otherwise excellent show.

JP127535684Might be entertainingI gave this podcast about 20 seconds before shutting it off, and here’s why: They claim, “We put a lot of research into this podcast,” but then immediately follow it with, “Hey kids, we’re not your history teachers—we dramatize things for entertainment.” That’s a huge problem for me. If you’re going to present something as historical, but then casually admit you’re twisting the truth for entertainment, that’s just storytelling masquerading as fact. I don’t like the idea of listeners thinking they’re getting well-researched history when they’re really getting a cherry-picked, dramatized version. And frankly, in a time when misinformation is everywhere and truth is constantly being manipulated for nefarious purposes, I don’t think it’s cute or harmless to contribute to this culture of lies and mistruths. If I wanted historical fiction, I’d seek it out—but I don’t appreciate a podcast blending fact and fiction in a way that’s barely acknowledged. Not for me.

AvstelugaWish I could love itI really wanted this to be a go-to podcast, but they are so politically biased and seem to absolutely hate men. They repeat it over and over it gets really old and sounds so immature.
-
indiasoupWonderful kind hosts!I’m a history nerd- and love this. Not dry at all.
-
Slops12357Great vibe just one thingI have been listening to ETR since the beginning, I love it! It’s informative and fun, without being too hard to follow. It’s a great podcast. I have to say, for some reason recently, Aricias laugh has become amplified throughout the podcast, and it’s getting really hard to listen to. I have even found myself turning off episodes cause it’s just too much. I don’t mean do be rude, but it is a bit of a jump scare to have a really loud laugh randomly interrupting in the middle of a mellow podcast.

LindsnicccccI enjoy royal history even more than I thought! In addition to their great storytelling that is rich with proper information and history, I also love the girls’ banter with each other. Their friendship is just as fun to experience as it is to hear their episodes. They bring so much energy to telling the backstory of some royals that I had never even heard of! Definitely part of my weekly rotation now, keep it up ladies!

katiebeaudoinMy new favorite podcast!Love love love this podcast.

HorseHavenMBEscape from reality❤️Perfect mix of history and storytelling. Gives me the escape I need! Thank you!

LanaLearns8Finally! Fantastic entertainment and history come together!Ever since Drunk History went off air I've been in major withdrawl. Sure, I listen to historical audible books, but I'd yearn for something that isn't always such a time committment. Something I can do the dishes to and learn something about history? Sign me up! THIS is that podcast. I feel as though I'm overhearing a hilariously fanastic lunch conversation between two best friends telling enticing stories. The content is solid, the history is accurate (for history) and the laughs (and tears...at least from me....) are legit. Thank you ladies!

Fun timer 1088Laugh and Learn!!!These ladies were on Stassi’s podcast and I enjoyed them on there so I’d thought I give their podcast ago. So glad I did!! This is a dream podcast for me, I like memoirs and nonfiction when I’m driving. I love the format of one BFF telling another a historical tale. They are so funny, I love the pop culture references. I started back at episode one and I’m hooked. Treat yourself to this show!

JessReebsLots of ads but so funSuch a fun and informative podcast, I def love and will keep it in my rotation. 3 ads per episode is excessive though

Maame ÀBetter than Christmas! The best part of my week starting is getting a new episode of Even the Royals. Brooke and Aricia bring the stories and characters to life with each story. Their chemistry is unmatched and I can tell they really are best friends. My favorite thing about the podcast is they discuss all kinds of royals and don’t focus on only the western world. Thank you for that. I’m learning about new people, empires, and having a blast doing it. If you take requests: can we get a story about the ancient Ghanaian empire? 🥹 keep doing what you do and thank you for this podcast.
-
LaurenShea11Favorite podcastI’m in love with this podcast! I’ve always loved the history of royals but was shocked by many details I had no clue about. These ladies are amazing storytellers and I hope they keep making many many more! I’m a true crime podcast listener but this podcast for sure tops all those.
-
FssaxOne of my favesI’m not a history buff. Typically I find history boring. But the hosts of this show make it so interesting and relatable, no matter how long ago the story takes place. LOVE this podcast!
-
ThankThemNot Funny Jokes Ruin itGreat topics but listening to the women make fake laughing sounds at each other’s basic, overused jokes is insufferable. I’m out.
-
lauriec67Great Topics, ButI really enjoy the topics on this podcast, and I love that they are not too long. But, as others have mentioned, there are so many ads and the giggling, the jokes, and really that slug comment get old very quickly. Maybe it’s the fact that I’m Gen X and don’t need the giggling, but honestly great content. Just please lose the mystery science theater 3000 running of comments.

ListeninginLondon09History with RizzAnglophile and former expat in two countries chiming in here. Love love love the lively hostesses banter and storytelling of these often-zany historical figures. Their current-generation opinions and narratives are gleaned from reputable sources. There’s shock, awe, and so much drama and I eat my popcorn all the way through each episode! Just enough length of each podcast. I personally love the older royal accounts, taking us back in time. Would love the antiquities as a suggestion!

SuperEastv45No fairHow are you allowed to say don’t send a man to do a woman’s job and that’s completely fine but when when a man says, don’t send a woman to do a man’s job it sexist?!?!
-
TildaJeanThis is a quality podcastWell researched, well written, and so much fun!
-
PenelopeQMy new must-listen!I’m so glad to have discovered this podcast! Whether it’s new facts about a famous person (like Napoleon) or deep dives into the lives of lesser-known Royals, each episode is well-researched and thoroughly engrossing. The hosts are fun and informative. And best of all, I feel smarter after each listen!
-
CandyReddd83Love it!!OMG I would have gotten an A in World History if it were taught like this lol
-
LexiLooWho5113Love it sooo much!!I started listening recently because I was interested in the six wives of Henry the eighth and then I listened to the other episodes and I’m in love with this podcast they make the content so much more interesting than if I were to learn it in a book or classroom.🩷 I’ve read some of the other reviews and a good handful of people are saying that they just bash men but if you look at history from a female royals point of view you’ll see that they were simply getting royally screwed. History is written by the winners so it’s hard to get both sides of the story. I ask this do you really think Marie Antoinette had any say over what her husband did he was the king, he was in charge, he was responsible and because he chose to do little to nothing about what was happening both of them were beheaded none of that was her fault and this is just one example so therefore they aren’t just going against men they are against the hierarchy that men were a part of that were treating these women poorly and unfairly.
-
iheart317One of my favoriteLove this podcast. Incredibly educational and filled with juicy details.
-
manowanLove the female POVI’m a man and I love history from a female POV… The men who complain that this podcast is just saying men are bad, well when you actually think & analyze history objectively and not just from a male POV, you start to see how awful men were(and some still are and then write reviews crying that women are bashing them 😂) As for the content, I quite enjoy how the hosts present the material. It’s done in an interesting and engaging style that makes learning history fun. I especially loved the two-part Queen Christina podcast. I first became interested in her story after watching “The Girl King”. I then read a book about her life that I found fascinating. She was definitely a character. Great Podcast 👍🏽👍🏽
-
Emigirl123*Re: Queen ChristinaI turned off the episode as soon as I heard you mispronounce Uppsala. It just seems like getting the pronunciation right should have been part of your research.
-
podcast123So many ads!!I love this podcast and it’s no fault of the hosts but it feels like every 30 seconds they break for ads and it’s so disruptive!
-
DogsonaplaneFunny and informative!I got hooked after stumbling across the Marie Antoinette episodes. The banter makes me giggle and reminds me of gossiping with my own friends. And I’ve learned quite a bit about royal history, some things have changed my perspective! If you can’t accept the reality that men are at the root of most of the bad things that happened to royal women, this isn’t the podcast for you. I would love to see episodes on Mary Queen of Scots, she is my favorite royal. It would also be really great to get some coverage on the royal drama surrounding the War of the Roses. Although I don’t care much about the Kennedy family I also did like that since the US doesn’t have royals they discussed the Kennedys as they are very close to royalty. It’d be great to know about royalty in the Middle East, as well!
-
Lewis M. CampbellToo much misandryGreat episode topics, but every other sentence is about how awful men are, how men mistreat women, how women are better than men, etc. It’s getting old. You cannot use the standards of this year to judge the standards of the distant past. 200 years from now, people will look back at us and criticize us for doing things we think are normal and make us civilized. Enough with the misandry.
-
Annabelle0131Feels like chatting with your friends……if your friends are into history and can have fun talking about it. When I’m tired of all the doom and gloom, but don’t want to just rot my brain, my girls Brooke and Aricia have my back with a great story. Find myself listening to them more and more. Love it!
-
Carolina VelaThese hosts make the show!As an avid podcast listener, I find that hosts make or break the show and these hosts make this listen so fun! The royals throughout history and modern day are fascinating, thoroughly enjoy every episode and deep dive into the royals.
-
angdevgrlJFK & JackieI’ve watched a lot of TV docs & read books about JFK & Jackie. But this is the first time I have ever cried while listening to a recounting of their story. Your retelling definitely brought a lot of emotions up. Well done!
-
ThesilentaudienceIck and cringe millennial or boomer humorOdd negging and weird non feminist comments throughout the episodes make the podcast less enjoyable
-
Heather TexasWhite Man bad all women goodThe show is exasperating, but very apropos for this age group of podcast. Women are never responsible for their actions, there’s always an excuse, wow the men are bad. Half of the content of the shows made up… which is fine that has to happen in these types of shows, but these podcasts constant personal affects are exhausting and childish. Sometimes men are good (even rich white ones,) sometimes men are bad, sometimes women are good and sometimes women are simply bad.
-
NurseTrishaDTSo boring. It’s so slow and boring. The commentary is lame.
-
YAREKCAHTInteresting content BUTCringiest millennial humor and unnecessary giggling from co host. It really takes you out of listening to the story and it’s cheesy. The jokes are TERRIBLE and kidding about sticking a slug up the vagina of a woman they don’t believe is a virgin was actually pretty disgusting!
-
LKMWAZThe man hating is old!Not every episode needs 10 mentions about how horrible men are… I can barely listen to one host but like the other one
-
t.l.halseySidekick commentary not clever or funnyI wanted to love this podcast and I almost did. I liked the main narrative for the most part but one of the hosts chimes in with too many pfffff’s, obvious and unfunny put downs of the subjects, and just overall takes away from the story rather than adding humor or depth. Couldn’t even finish the episode. Annoying.
-
EVH ROX10 stars!!! ⭐️I’ve listened to these smart funny ladies since Covid on Even the Rich. I absolutely love the royals one and I’m watching My Lady Jane about Lady Jane Grey and this is right in that time period so I’m fascinated!! I love it! Great job, sweet ladies! 👏👏👏💜💜
-
mayad2Love it!I’m hooked after one episode! I love the narration and the banter between the two hosts. I’m a total history buff so this is right up my alley!
-
History stuffCackling, omgLove the show but omg that cackling
-
Ladies dude. His iunsd nutLove itI absolutely can’t get enough of this pod! If I was to say only one negative is too much talking amongst the hosts
-
Everynicknameisalready takenThe man hating gets old but still interestingI enjoy the factual part of this episode! Commentary is mostly funny, sometimes redundant, and they do warn you about the language. I get that the roles of men and women in history (and the present in some respects) haven’t always been ideal or fair but the man hating gets a little old.
-
pithypickleBig FanI’ve listened to all of the episodes three times. This show is that good! I’m loving the Henry VIII’s wives series and I cannot wait for more episodes to come out.
-
ReadDaily7Exaggerated laughterPlease stop the over exaggerating laughter - laughing so hard & loud at nothing. The stories are intriguing, but the laughter is really driving me crazy & I’m so close to deleting this podcast because of it. Between that & their over-repeated phrase “I KNOW”, my sanity is hanging by a string.
