Several months back I put “sewing” in a search engine for podcasts. I tried a dozen or so such podcasts and Straight Stitch is my favorite of all of them. The pace is great and knowledge of the creator is very apparent. She has introduced me to a wide variety of topics.

This is a fun & educational podcast to listen to. Janet is down to earth and relatable & has a heart of service. She has a wealth of knowledge to share. Thanks for doing this podcast!

I love this podcast. It features a good range of sewing and fiber arts topics, with a sprinkling of homesteading and community/family life updates. The host is friendly and down to earth. And I greatly appreciate the show’s lack of giddiness and time-wasting that sometimes creep into other podcasts in this genre.

I started listening in Feb 2025 but started at the first episode from 2022 and I am at episode 39. Janet seems to know everything! I don’t think there’s anything she could not figure out how to do! Every episode she amazes me with what all she can accomplish in a week. I love Montana and enjoy hearing her talk about her life there. Her voice is soothing and pleasant to listen to and I am hoping to learn some things through osmosis!! This is definitely a sewing podcast worthy of your time!!!!

Janet Szabo is an experienced garment and quilt sewer and teacher. She has a calm speaking voice that makes it easy to listen to. I especially enjoy the folksy chat that begins each episode. I like hearing what she’s sewing and making. She conducts good interviews. She asks the questions that I have. I highly recommend this podcast.

I’m completely enjoying this podcast and the variety of topics she covers, from the machines to the fibers.

The Straight Stitch is one of my favorite podcasts. Janet Szabo has a wealth of knowledge about the fiber arts and shares her sewing experiences with an unassuming good humor. She interviews people involved in many different areas of sewing. I love when she shares tidbits about her daily life and adventures in Montana. Every time I finish listening to one of Janet’s podcasts I have learned something new, I feel inspired to sew, and I am grateful that Janet continues to create her podcasts.

I love The Straight Stitch! Janet has so many unique insights into sewing, and she delivers her knowledge with the manner of a true teacher at heart. I love hearing tips, about her own sewing adventures, and even deep dives into why we sew. Each week is another delightful gem of an episode. Wonderful podcast!

I’ve been sewing 40+ years but there is always something new to learn and I’ve learned a lot from Janet. I appreciate that her podcast covers a number of fiber arts and leatherwork (I had no idea leather is considered a textile!). I really like that she keeps you updated on sewing world news. Her interviews are great with really well thought out questions. I just found this podcast but I’m almost caught up. Keep up the great work!

I have thoroughly enjoyed this “new to me” podcast. Janet covers a wide variety of topics in the sewing realm, from her own sewing and her guests. She does a wonderful job asking her guests interesting questions about their sewing related experiences. I have already learned a lot from The Straight Stitch and look forward to the episodes to come!

I love listening to Janet’s calm voice, while she talks about all things sewing. I stumbled upon her podcast by chance about three weeks ago and have binged all the episodes. 🤓 Now, I look forward to Tuesday mornings! Thank you for the interviews as well, they’ve all been “sew” interesting!

I have enjoyed listening to Janet. I listen to sewing podcasts driving back and forth to my job at a quilt shop. It’s a great use of the travel time. And having inspiring teachers to listen to, like Janet, makes my drive very enjoyable!

I occasionally search for new sewing podcasts. This morning, I found The Straight Stitch. Janet has a clear voice and is very informative. I’ve binged them all and look forward to new episodes.
