It’s like taking a behind-the-scenes tour of the National Parks. Loved hearing the human stories and history of the parks. I only wish there were more episodes.

What I learned about Yosemite is that white people are the problem.

This is one of those podcasts I keep thinking about long after listening. It’s so good and I hope there is a season two.

I really hope you do more episodes, I've listened to all of these and absolutely loved them! The writing and narrative was so descriptive you could clearly see what they saw! The history and incredible importance of preserving these remarkable places make these so vital for everyone to hear! Job well done 👏👏

More of the same as everything else you hear on NPR. Solid reporting, just can’t take anymore of this. It’s divisive for our country. The title kind of feels like bait switch.

I am not someone who listens to episodes multiple times. I am very one-and-done with podcasts and episodes. I could listen to this series on repeat. The narrator’s voice is so soothing, the tone is almost reverent and the information is important. I love that you can hear the wildlife in the background of these recordings too. You learn a lot and really feel the push for conservation without being beaten over the head for it. This is the right way to make a podcast.

Pretty cool series, hope there will be more. Only criticism Is the host mispronounces many words (such as important, mountains, certain)

I had to listen to 1 episode for a homework but then I ended up listening to the whole thing

Lillian is such a top-notch podcaster and journalist; a combination that has become increasingly less common these days. Lillian (and her team) consistently produce quality content that is both exciting and interesting. And a rich undercurrent of genuine empathy elevates every story, revealing surprising vantage points - even for those already familiar with the subject. And this series is no different. Each National Park covered, those I've visited and those waiting patiently on my bucket list, has started calling my name even louder than before. In a word, this pod is transportive. One unique element of her shows is the sound design. Lillian's voice and point of view are an open hand, reaching out to welcome you into these specific times and places - and the textured audio helps bring those worlds to life. My only complaint is that I wish it had been released a couple years prior - what a perfect podcast to have had during the early months of the pandemic!

Another excellent series from Lillian. Thank you for providing up close and personal experiences at our national parks. I anxiously await your next reporting adventure.

I will listen to each episode a second time because she includes so many fascinating details, I know I missed a few. Great reporting!

I don’t even know where to begin. Simply beautiful podcast. It felt like I was in the parks with her. I loved hearing the sounds of nature while she spoke about the history, and the future, of our parks. I particularly enjoyed learning about the relationship between the parks and the Native Americans who lived on and near the land. I found myself crying at some parts! I hope there will be a season two!

Outstanding series. I can’t recommend this series enough! You’ll find yourself fully immersed in the park in a way that is remarkably close to being physically there. The sounds. The smells. The sights. The being. These Podcasts take you there and make you think about the issues facing these places today. These are our issues that we need to carefully address. Much gratitude to the entire team.

I am an avid listener of podcasts. And till date there has been not a single podcast that I went back and heard again except Fieldtrip. I just loved it. Felt like I was there when the host was experiencing the nature. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making this. Looking forward for more series. Thank you again.

I was searching for something spooky, and entertaining podcasts. I came across this series and didn’t think much of it — I thought it was going to be too slow for me, but I still saved it. One night, while laying in bed before going to sleep, I gave this series a try. I have NOT looked back! It is sooo entertaining, informative, eye opening, and found myself getting emotional at times, and inspired me to take action. This series also reminded me how much of an obligation I have to take action and protect Earth. I really hope they produce more episodes. Im starting to re listen to them, hearing information I didn’t hear before. If I could give 10 stars, I would.

This podcast makes me want to travel everywhere. Well told stories and great interviews. I hope they make another season.

The way the history is told. The way Lillian is truly moved as she learns about the history. The additional background noises from the parks. Everything is perfect.

Love the history and current events of this podcast. Everyone should have a listen on this American history!

Lillian and crew visit places many of us will never get to. And being the great reporter that she is naturally, she takes us inside the stories, unknown stories to most of us.

I absolutely loved this show! The few parks I have had the chance to visit I enjoyed, but this really started a fire under me to visit more. Some I did not even know existed “gates of the arctic” for example but the narrative of this show made we want to plan a trip after some training and lots of training. This show was a joy to listen to. My only question is when is the next season of parks being released?

This is more a sales pitch for climate change than anything else. Such a missed opportunity.

I feel like I’m visiting the park while listening. I have learned so much and my passion for the national parks has increased due to this podcast. The narrating is wonderful!

This love letter to America’s most beautiful places is superb. Lillian Cunningham takes you directly into the parks and paints the loveliest of lovely pictures of each. She tells native stories of each park, and how native people historically cared for the land and can help protect it again. She tells the stories of how the US, keen on development for development’s sake, made critical mistakes (that they’re now scrambling to undo) which are killing the parks. But Cunningham never leaves the listener feeling hopeless. She gives us hope for saving these wondrous places. Spoiler Alert: the power lies with indigenous people!

I loved this podcast so much. It is beautiful, heartfelt and mesmerizing. Please do another season!

Wonderfully told! You are given access to areas of parks and experts that you would not otherwise have with a visit. You are given a complete history, not just a white man’s version of the parks or the varnished version such as with the White Sands story. I highly recommend this podcast. So descriptive you feel you are visiting without the harmful impacts of an in-person visit.

If you’re seeking a podcast about enjoying the NPS this really is not the one. This is a cast about legalities reading the lands of the NPS and the social implications of such. The writer’s experience of the park is quite millennial, being mesmerized by the basics of nature and largely critical of the system the parks must employ (to keep everyone happy). I’d appreciate her experience and then her opinions a bit more if she she had became a bit more familiar with the parks rather hearing her amateur, simpleton, valley girl expressions of what she somewhat experienced during her time writing this cast. But I would say she brings a lot of information to light which I was unaware. I appreciated that …but the direction of her presentation meanders and I tuned out. She doesn’t simply state the issue and support it. Instead she wanders and it quite frankly, it gets pretty boring.

As I listened to the podcasts, I was riveted. Absolutely beautiful descriptions of the parks. I really hope that this season is just the beginning of many.

As an avid National Park visitor/supporter, I was excited to listen to this podcast and boy did it exceed any expectation I had going into it! It’s an artful presentation of five national parks and I found myself anxiously waiting for each episode. My fingers are crossed for a season two while I listen to season one again!

So it’s true. Mismanagement of forests for 100 years by the State of California is the main cause of the horrific fires, not climate change. Seems like they should return forest management to the tribes and fire all of the bureaucrats. Could do without the derogatory references to “White people.”

LOVED this podcast! The only disappointment I experience is that I have to wait for another season/episodes. Incorporating the sounds of the park and experiences within in the story made it feel like you were there yourself ❤️

This pod is just beautiful. The sounds of each of the locations is wonderful. The interviews. The history. The look back as a way to draw attention to how (and why) we need to move forward. The approach does a good job of noting the costs and benefits of protecting these wild places - but I appreciate that she leans toward the fragility of these locations and the tight links from their health to the broader health of the country. I loved it and can’t wait for Season 2.
