Cammmes29Very Informative PodcastThis is one of the only turkey focused podcasts and I enjoy listening year round. Very informative, whether you are a land owner who wants to improve your land to better help turkeys, you’re a turkey hunter who’s obsessed about learning about turkeys, or maybe a little of both. Either way you are sure to learn something from Marcus, Will, or one of their guests.

Nachogrande42Definitive turkey science podcastAlso great to use in learning to measure in Alabamas

No messaging- app crashesOnly podcast I can listen to!I’m not a podcast fan in general. But Wild Turkey Science with Marcus and Will is the only show I can and will listen to. It’s so refreshing to have experts talk in a way that the average person can understand. They are easy to listen to and very entertaining. They provide excellent, very informative info from multiple points of view. The only thing wrong with the podcast is that every single turkey hunter and enthusiast is not listening, learning, and doing what they hear on the podcast!

Great habitat podcastGreat information for habitat improvementAs a small Illinois landowner, the information gleaned from Marcus and Will is invaluable! In the past 12 years I have eradicated bush honeysuckle and started a fire regimen that has completely changed my oak/ hickory forest. I thought there was still something missing in my habitat work and this podcast has reinforced that I’m on the right track! Now working on Sugar Maple eradication to open the canopy. Every episode gives me little tidbits of information to tweak my improvement projects!

Dustin King7SheewwwwweeeI enjoy this podcast however I still believe on many platforms long winded agendas are pushed such as the latest episode.
-
Bearded_turkey_mannVery informativeAll my podcast are whitetail based podcasts besides this one. I am very interested in doing some turkey management on the farm, and I have learned a lot here. Thanks for what you guys are doing. Keep up the good work.

Kkoenig92Best there isThis podcast is hands down the best podcast out pertaining to wildlife science especially pertaining to wild turkeys. I can’t thank you guys enough for bringing this to the audience to shed light on a resource that is in a fragile state at a time when we can still do something about it. You take a difficult to digest group of studies and relay it to the land owners and managers that will be responsible for the ultimate outcome of the wild turkey decline or rebound. I don’t believe this has been done before to help non academics digest the material necessary to put their efforts in the place with most benefit. Excellent work! Hopefully all the shade cast on feeders/feeding (especially corn) will open some eyes and people will stop. Ideally it will be banned for wildlife purposes! Thanks again!
-
AureliusMDPlease keep it up!Thanks so much for what you do! I’d love to share my season if the information would be useful.

Scott G72These guys know their stuffI really enjoy listening to Marcus and Will and learn something from each podcast. They cover topics that are relevant and make interesting points that cause me to rethink some of the “knowns” that we’ve all been told as being the truth for decades. Keep up the good work!

MO-VolA must listen for anyone who loves turkeysI’m thankful for the time and commitment both of you have invested into disseminating the research and information related to wild turkeys to the public. Thanks to you, I have altered and/or adapted my preexisting habitat management efforts on my farm in Missouri. I’ve also shared episodes and loads of information gleaned for this podcast with numerous friends and family. My teenage son and daughter listen to the episodes with me in the truck. Because of that they are not only more enthusiastic about helping with habitat projects at the farm and turkey hunting, they are also more excited about science in general (specifically biology/ecology). You and your guests’ excitement for science is contagious! What you’re doing is having a tremendous impact.
-
arctictkrThought- and experiment-provokingThough I’m an Arctic ecologist, sometimes you need to look away from daily concerns and consider the “Big Picture”. Do we “know” everything we believe about our fave species ? Not every Show is of interest, but enough that a thoughtful hunter/land mgr/lab rat can translate into their specific context. Thanks !
-
Outdoor LifestilesThese dudes know their stuffMarcus and Will take the actual complicated science of turkeys and present it where people can understand principles and why they matter! Also they clearly feed off each other and are entertaining.

Talha from OregonThe only podcast out there dedicated to game-bird biologyWild Turkey Science is a unique podcast dedicated to Wild Turkey biology and ecology, from an academic perspective. The show should be of interest to a broad audience including landowners, land managers, conservation organization affiliates, State Game Agency managers, hunters, and many others. Wild Turkey Science fills a niche with its science-backed approach and should not be missed by anyone interested in the wild turkey.
-
nateroth4Detailed information from dedicated researchersThese are all excellent podcasts. The hosts do a great job of breaking down detailed research regarding wild turkeys and making it digestible to the layman. Between this podcast and Dr. Lashley's Fire University, there's a ton of info on how to manage land for wild game.
-
ckschillBurning during nestingStationed at Fort Bragg for many years and witnessed the smoke from the burnings. Great podcast and keep the stories coming! Had a few friends loose trail cameras to the burns also LOL. Keep it up, always look forward to the drive to work so I can listen to your podcast and learn something new!
-
StevenCHodgesScience based useful information for the turkey hunterThis is an outstanding and informative science based podcast regarding wild turkeys. I've learned so much that has led to excellent dialogue between myself and my neighbors and between myself and local biologist. Marc and Will present scientific literature in an entertaining manner and then discuss applications of these principles. Excellent podcast.
-
Blakley TarttStill the GOATsMy fav podcast to listen to hands down. I’m going back through and re-listening to my favs. I wish y’all could do a live version of the pod one day JS-I’d drive from Livingston AL to wherever for a couple hours of nerding out with WTS. I swear this gal right here is y’all’s biggest fan!
-
Marinette MickeyPhenomenal science based conversationsI love that they discuss real science and link the papers being discussed!
-
juliesrobertsLove getting the research on turkey managementI listen to every show as it comes out. Most of the time I have to re-listen to those shows to make sure I’m hearing everything I can. Thank y’all for putting the research out there so that we can put it to work. By having the hard science in a format that’s handy, I can dispel any false rumors when ppl “who know what they are talking about” try to say to steer the management plans in a improper way.
-
Sylamore SamLoving it!This is a must listen for anyone who is serious about the state of our wild turkey population. Whether as a hunter, wildlife observer, or land manager, it is timely and thought provoking. Marcus and Will are academics, hunters, and all around humble men giving their best for a cause they believe in. Highly recommend!

@@@Holyleaf, WarriorsMath Help (episode # 63)30 square miles is not a square that is 30 miles by 30 miles. That would be an area of 900 square miles. Try a square 5.48 miles by 5.48 miles. (or a rectangle 30 miles x 1 mile). The point of raccoon infiltration from outside of the study’s trapping area is quite plausible if you think about a travel distance of only 2-3 miles to the center. But you discussion of compensatory reproduction was interesting even if your arithmetic was off. I forget where I heard it but NRCS field borders were called predator food plots. You were saying 10 yards or 30 feet wide. CP-33 pays for 30-120’ wide field borders. I think the high end is still easily hunted by any predator with a nose. Anecdotally, (Will, wasn’t she a Wild West sharp shooter?) on my 175 acre NW Missouri farm I trapped 32 raccoons, 24 opossums and 10 skunks last winter, 2022-2023, stopping on April 10th. This year I had the best fall quail numbers since I bought the farm in 2007. Was it a result of all the habitat work I’ve done? Perhaps the dry nesting weather? Or was it the trapping? I don’t know, but the traps are out as of today and the gate to the mesocarnivore graveyard is open and accepting bodies.
-
bluehautauSaving Turkeys 1 episode at a timeThis podcast may just save the wild Turkey! From the do’s and don’ts and the science behind everything mentioned l, it all helps us know when and where to spend our energy managing for turkeys!
-
MS Flint DawgFlint, Spark, Torch, BlazeExcellent informative podcast! Removes the disconnect between the hunter and the biologist. The information learned has a normal turkey hunter like me spreading information to fellow hunters on better ways to manage and protect the resource we all love!
-
bbdjnebfGreat PodcastI want to think TFT for bringing us this podcast. I hope this brings a major awareness to other the decline of the turkey population. This podcast gives the average person a breakdown of the science and research that relates to turkeys. As a person who graduated with a Fish and Wildlife biology degree, I still have great appreciation of the easy breakdown of the data.
-
