FryBender3000Thank youThis is a film school lecture! THANK YOU!!!! If you look up the interviews of the people whose insights you care about this is an invaluable podcast. I hope we get these for as long as possible!
-
j-howingtonLove the show!QT is my cinema Jesus. I will watch, read, listen to anything QT gives us! Best there is, ever was, or ever will be!
-
Brad N2MPlease put the whole show upI was very disappointed that 1/3 of the way through the show it was over and I had to go listen to the rest by subscribing to Patreon. I hope you will rethink this. Use Patreon for bonus content, merch and such.
-
SalvasnahLove the pod, not the paywallI could listen to Roger and Quentin talk all day about movies. What a pleasure to listen to two people who are so passionate and knowledgeable about one of my favorite subjects. Subtracting one star for new paywall strategy. I understand this is a lot of work but I already have a ton of subs - not sure I can afford another.

Charles92027Abridged Too FarI was waiting, with bated breath, for the second season to drop and when it did I was terribly disappointed. I get that it’s a business, they’re trying to generate revenue with the podcast. That’s why it has a ton of ads and every other episode is an advertisement for what’s playing at Quentin’s theaters, but every time I see that there’s going to be a discussion about a movie I’m actually interested in, I get to the end of the episode and Gala tells me I have to pay to hear it. Now, the discussions are interesting and entertaining, but not so good that I’m willing to pay for two thirds of the content. I feel like the whole second season is a bait and switch. Not cool.

LsPunk151DisappointingWhat a slap in the face to fans of season 1. Now for season 2 they only play a portion of the episode and try and entice you to sign up for Patron to listen to the remainder of the episode, no thanks, I just won’t listen to any of it instead.

jellyntoasyPaywalled only 1/3 of podcast is available for publicQuick pay
-
monkey-a-go-goRuined a good thingSeason One was 5 stars. Season Two with the paywall is 1 star. The main show should be available with ads for everyone. Put ad-free and bonus content on Patreon.
-
Kurtis ScottFilms they discuss are mostly garbagePod is fine. The actual films they discuss are usually mediocre to absolutely awful.
-
misterfiveDisappointedLike other film fans here, it’s disappointing the podcast has moved to a subscription model. I’m subscriptioned out and am moving on.
-
Greg BrainosLoving the Cinema Club epsThe way Gala and Matt talk about these films is really beautiful and always makes me want to hop a plane to LA to attend all the screenings
-
texicali74Et tu, Quentin?I suppose I should be used to paying for things that used to be free these days. But I had to voice my disappointment here, just because I had really been looking forward to season 2 of this podcast, only for most of it to be hidden behind a paywall. To call this a drag would be an understatement. I guess QT isn’t quite rich enough yet. I may or may not keep listening, but there’s no chance I will subscribe to the Patreon. Shame on you, guys. 👎🏼

Pat HingleYikesTarantino is a barely literate loudmouth and everyone around him a sycophantic toe sucker. He is a talentless hack, and those of you with Scarface posters on your wall will see the light one day. Not only the luckiest man in the film industry but the one who has most bought into his own hype, he hasn’t made a great movie in 28 years, by my count, and that was his only one. But no, please, by all means…I love hearing QT mispronounce the name of every famous actor and well known word, and I can’t get enough of those masturbatory ads for his poorly written tome. Oh, and MORE GALA AVERY! Give the gal(a) her own show! Because that’s what everyone was asking for.
-
jefflehanPatreonI absolutely love this podcast! As a former student in a film school (many years ago), this podcast has helped to reignite my interest in films! As a result of this podcast, I have discovered so many great films that I had not heard of before, especially the Giallo films! However, now I only get to hear/learn about 33.3% of the content unless I pay a subscription? Look, I already pay a lot for internet, cellular, and for the phone that I am using right now. Can you at least make the transcripts available at 100%? That way we can at least have access to all the content.
-
DesperatedriverBooA paywall, really?
-
TeabaggindragonIncomplete episodesMost is behind a paywall. And let’s be just guys, this show was amusing, but in no way is the discussion here so vital that it merits having to pay to listen to 75% of the banal back and forth.
-
EntangledMindBait and SwitchOne of my favorite shows that I was eagerly waiting for season 2. Now 2/3 of the show is behind a paywall. There are other Patreon add-ons subscribers would have gladly paid for. This business model is terrible, I’m no longer bothering to listen since I don’t get the full show.
-
FilmStudent2012Not cool, guys.Let me start by saying that I’m a fan of Quentin Tarantino. He’s a great filmmaker and knowledgable cineaste. The Video Archives Podcast is one of many movie-themed podcasts that I listen to because I gain a lot out of it. But this new model of hiding most of the show behind a paywall does no favors for its subscribers and illustrates how out of touch these two are. Not all of us can afford to subscribe. Some of us have bills. Now, I understand that it’s not Tarantino and Avary’s problem—I’m not trying to foist my own issues on them—but what I am saying is be mindful of the kind of people your base consists of before you decide to create a paywall. This is not okay, especially since we’re going to be seeing rapidly rising costs in the future.
-
LecopeDrug dealer business model a terrible ideaMakes people feel like suckers.
-
NCSU4EverA great podcast ruined by greedThe first season was fantastic and I was really looking forward to season 2, but alas, it’s paywalled. I’m a huge QT fan and all 3 hosts do a great job. I just wish they hadn’t paywalled me out of it all. Unfollowed, unfortunately.
-
SethFourTenYou need a Patreon? Really?Really? You?
-
Galante LoveNot coolIn a time when so many people are struggling you take what was once free and charge people for it? Do a Patreon like other people do them: Bonus shows, extra interviews, after show content. Don’t take your successful base model, strip the guts from it and expect me to be happy with less.
-
thebudman08They think we’re suckersWe wait over a year for new episodes and then without any kind of prior announcement they bury 85% of the show behind a paywall. No bonus episodes of any kind, they’re just offering the same exact show they gave us for free before only now you have to pay for it. This is lazy and greedy. That’s fine though I have plenty of other movie podcasts that I listen to that don’t treat their listeners like this AND most of them have patreons that actually offer worthwhile bonus content. I’d highly recommend checking out Screen Drafts, Blank Check, the Big Picture, The LexG Podcast or the Important Cinema Club for good insightful discussions about film that don’t cost you $5 a month just to hear complete episodes. Good riddance to bad rubbish.
-
wa55From favorite to won’t listen anymoreLoved the first season, now that the majority of the show is behind a paywall I will not be listening anymore. I believe this is a slap in the face of the fans of the first season. If you needed the money, ask for donations. You can put the after show and very special episodes behind the paywall not the main episode. Though this was a very unique experience, there are plenty of other good podcasts out there that don’t make us pay to hear the whole show
-
KB IllPaywalled? Ugh.I’d be glad to pay for extra content, but hiding 2/3rds of what season 1 included behind a paywall is terrible.
-
SBHOKCPaywall is not the wayI don’t mind if you started that way but I stay subscribed hoping you will come back with more episodes and then this. Y’all have more money than god himself but 99% of us do not. I can’t give everyone a patreon donation, maybe for a weekly but not for a weeks worth in a year, so I must now unsubscribe.
-
Richman976DisappointedI loved season 1 and was excited for season 2. Reading the description I was looking forward to 3 movies and awards. What I got was a bait and switch to get me to sign up for the Patreon. I appreciate there are folks involved with the show that this is their primary source of income, but this is the only movie podcast I listen to that you need a patreon account to listen to the complete main show as opposed to exclusive bonus material. I wish them well but I won’t be joining Patreon and will not be listening to an advertisement for a paywall
-
NastyLaddPaywall?You can’t be serious
-
Vm212121We have to pay to listen nowLoved this podcast last season but this new change to hiding 2/3rds of the show behind a patreon is ridiculous and needs to be reconsidered. Two multi-millionaires and their nepo baby have now decided we owe them money because they clearly don’t have enough already? Give me a break. Hope they change it back or many others will unsub too
-
Mr hostetter2nd Season Greed...Patreon? Two listen to a clueless rich kid, her annoying dad, and Tarantino testing the limits of his ADHD meds? Nope, not for me. Almost as bad as Gala's infomercial podcast now... I really, with this, I doubt that I'll ever watch any of their films again ubless it's on 123.movies or some other free bootleg.
-
liftingbabeYay you’re back!!I kept looking for the next season, and I’m very happy to listen to season 2. Thank you for this podcast!
-
Bertrand200Now behind a paywallLove the podcast but now they are putting more than half the new episodes behind a Patreon paywall. Disappointed with this choice.

Pandacorns are betterGreat podcast…and Gala is wonderfulLove this series. Encore! And don’t listen to “Nastylad”. What a horse’s a#*^! Gala is excellent. :)
-
EssaywhuMy favorite podcast!Really into this although I’m way behind because I like to track down the films they are talking about before I listen so I can better understand what they’re talking about.
-
heddagablerLove is…this podcastMore edits: Is Quentin and his family safe? His wife’s family? I am so sorry Israel and its citizens gave been so brutally attacked. Edited to add: I would love for Quentin, Roger and Gala to do an extra sumpin’ sumpin’ Golden Globe discussion as well as The Oscars. I am recommending this podcast to anyone and everyone. Great conversation. Wonderful stories that add layers to the films. The give and take of delightful and insightful information just makes these movies so much more. Terrific teamwork between Quentin, Gala and Roger — impressive and fun. Loved Quentin’s interview for 3 Books (bought one of Pauline Kael’s books at Quentin’s recommend) and purchased Cinema Speculation today. My only complaint is, I hate waiting for new episodes!
-
podcastracingA movie podcast classicI learn about so many amazing films I’d never know about without this podcast. Great movies and some of the best movie conversations anywhere. Definitely listen to this one
-
Clobber-TronDevolved…into a discussion on fake films and actors
-
kindra brewer aka true babyHow did I miss this! This is the ultimate favorite podcast in my rotation and I’m binging every episode!
-
BigJBF65Simply the bestMy favorite podcast. I love the insight and deep dives into some forgotten gems. Thank you Roger , Quentin and Gala! Please keep it up!
-
Borscht 23Off the railsThis is such a great podcast. One of the best parts about it (so far) is that Quentin and Roger barely talk about their own films. It’s a conversation between three cinephiles about other people’s movies. I get the desire to mix it up and do this Rick Dalton thing but man…kinda ruins the show with this self-absorbed meta material. We come to hear passionate discussion about obscure (often times awful) movies. We come for apples…not oranges. Sorry to be a whiney brat.
-
SAv MuseI love this podcastI love listening to people who are passionate about Different subjects this is by far my favorite podcast
-
GJ 77Roger…..shhhhExcellent show. Quentin’s knowledge of Hollywood history is unmatched. Roger and Gala are fun, but Roger needs to stop interrupting.
-
PunkoMusicGreat show. Great insightsAlthough I find Tarantino to be one of the most overrated directors of all time, I find him to be a great
-
AmericanMythos1Genuineness!This has rapidly risen through the ranks to become my favorite podcast. Quentin, Roger and Ala all bring something different to the table… and it’s refreshing that they don’t always agree. It feels honest and genuine and I love it.
-
Tee927Be Kind - RewindC'mon, now. It's Quentin in his element. I don't even mind when he/they are spoiling a movie because it's so infectious and fun hearing about all of these oddball films. The absolute worst part though? Roger's commercials. Irritating, frustrating, and his attemps to switch voices/accents and then go into "Serious Roger Voice"... that's a 1-star (at best).
-
BobbybottleserviceAn amazing treatSo awesome l didn’t know they were doing this I and many others were missing out
-
MillieSpliffSuperior Quality of Information for all Cinema LoversA podcast with Roger Avary, Gala Avary, and Quentin Tarantino talking about cinema and movies…what more could you ask for? I don’t want to know. What I do want to know is more about cinema and this is a superior source for information of just that. Thanks for everything you guys do and thanks to the team behind video archives!
