AstarblazeJust rightThere’s so many climbing podcasts out there these days. But none are quite as good as this one at striking the right balance between fun and informative. Lauren and Caitlin have managed to create something so delightful and zany that I’m constantly grinning and giggling as I listen. Never before has climbing (and non climbing!) knowledge been so enjoyable to absorb. Eagerly awaiting the next episode.

Sarah K PetesSo fun!”I like show. It fun. I love lamp. Send me sticker. -Lauren episode 68” -Sarah Thank you both for the effort you put into this podcast! It’s easy to get overwhelmed with all the training and nutrition advice floating around. I appreciate the way you both give concise tips then do the breakdown into why it works or why you like it. So so helpful and easy to digest!

Tour dudeLove this showThese ladies are THE BEST. They are super hilarious and knowledgeable, quirky, fun and just an all around good time to listen too. With funny banter and weird fun facts, I always get stoked when I see the notification of a new episode! Although I don’t feel much like a climber these days (haven’t climbed in like 6 months) and am more of a skier/hiker, I am hoping to be able to work them both someday! - Sean

Patrick EugeneFun!Leaving this because y’all begged—but honestly, it’s well deserved. I look forward to every episode. Super funny, silly… always a good time. If you’re not listening yet, you should be ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

TheressssssseBut can we climb sometime?Fabulously practical advice presented in a delightfully familiar and digestible (no pun intended) format! Love the emphasis on functional nutrition without greenwashing, judgement, or diet advice disguised as “intuitive eating” - and training tips that you don’t have to be gym-bro level dialed to implement in your gym/outdoor training sessions. Love the rapport and genuinely wish we could climb together sometime - y’all are great!!

Pookie NubbinsDelightfully unhingedMy non-climbing wife shares a deep appreciation for the fun facts and calls this pod delightfully unhinged (in the best possible way). I’m also here for the clear, deep, and thoughtful explanations and discussion around climbing training and nutrition - well worth your time!

RspeerokPretty GreatLearning much every episode, reminds me to stick to the basics before getting into the weeds of exercise and nutrition nuance. The banter between these lovely ladies is hilarious and I look forward to each episode. Also I’m stoked for the chance to win a sticker…

Laur3nfost3rLove this podcast!!This podcast has become one of my favorite climbing podcasts to listen to recently. I appreciate the concrete advice given for improving/gamifying my climbing and nutrition and have definitely incorporated it into my training. There’s no better way to start my Thursday than with some helpful climbing tips AND bizarre fun facts like mountain lion noises and ostrich racing. I live for the crackhead energy!

ReviewerStephPEntertaining AND PracticalLauren and Caitlin’s podcast is the one climbing podcast I consistently listen to. They make me laugh every episode, and they cover a range of useful topics. I always walk away with at least one practical takeaway to use in my very average climbing.

Kat_SummersYou rock!I LOVE listening to you guys! I get super excited when I get up in the morning and see that there is a new podcast I get to listen to while I get ready for work. Kliberty21Relatable, Inspiring, and Always FunThis is easily my #1 favorite podcast at this point. It's a tangled ball of yarn and I love it. I can't get enough of the way you both go off on 10-minute tangents before even introducing yourselves. Each episode is relatable, lighthearted, and an inspiration. I learn, I laugh, I’m excited to climb—what's not to love? Never stop being you.

MermaidRileyAppreciate you!I have been listening to the show since THE BEGINNING and with that I have become a completely different person (more educated and well rounded climber). Throughout my time listening I have embarked on the journey of working towards my Doctorate in Physical Therapy and have really been enjoying applying all of the fun strength and nutrition aspects of climbing to the materials I am learning in school ESPECIALLY the episodes with guest PTs! Lauren and Caitlin really know their stuff and there has never an episode where I don’t walk away with knowing something more. They have totally changed my mentality on nutrition and have given me the skills to train harder and smarter while fueling my goals correctly with yummy foods. I cannot thank you guys enough for creating such a wonderful platform!

Daryan F.Greatly appreciate you both!As a new climber, everything can get overwhelming. Thank you for being informative, hilarious and a warm welcome to the climbing and nutrition arenas! Whenever I need a “feel good” podcast and something to get me stoked while I’m on the ride to my next adventure The Average Climber Podcast is my go-to every time! Much thanks for making all the info digestible! (I hope you liked that pun lol) but seriously, don’t change a thing you guys are first class!

jcaoutdoorsAnything but AverageThe average climber podcast is definitely not an average podcast! The hosts are fun and knowledgeable and will help you become an above average climber!

katsudesu123Wacky and informative for the average climber.Love you gals. Your upbeat format and the way you both mesh well during the podcast makes the information easier to digest. For walks in the woods or long road trips, I really enjoy listening to this great podcast. Keep it up, it’s great for the climbing community. Marc

The twin JimmyAppreciationLong time lurker on here. This show is so informative and I try to implement some of their recommendations into other parts of my life past climbing.

SosoCyrilleIt goodOverall awesome podcast with fun hosts. My two minor issues (that are manageable on my end): 1.) Love seeing the long run times but then get bummed that the intro is like 10 minutes or so of them talking about non-climbing things. It’s cool, you get to know the hosts and their personalities outside of climbing. I usually just fast forward past it. 2.) I usually listen to various podcasts on roadtrips in my van. This is the only podcast that has sound inconsistencies where there are some parts they’re talking low, so then I bump up the volume, but then at random times it sounds like they’re laughing loudly right into the mic where it actually hurts my ears. Ex: Ep 55 What Climbers Get Wrong at 26:31, 53:49, and 1:08:30 So I’ve reserved this podcast to only listening to my AirPods where the sound level doesn’t have much of a discrepancy.

Aspiring climber27Funny and interestingI just started listening and loved it from the beginning. With funny hosts and awesome guest interviews full of indoor and outdoor climbing insights it’s easy to fall in love with. Keep it up!

polkadots46Enjoyable achievable stokeI’ve been listening for a while now, and I find their episodes to be quite helpful, informative and funny. They include advice/topics that are actually achievable and relatable to the average climber. Love love love all the fun facts (bonus 12 days of Christmas: did you know that five golden rings is actually in reference to ring-necked pheasants?). It’s been great for keeping up the stoke while my foot becomes not broken!

PatchworkPerson524Keep It SimpleI’ve been listening to this podcast since episode 1. At that time I was spending 20+ hours a week in the gym, calorie counting chicken and rice every day, and felt awful all the time. These hosts steered me away from obsessive over-optimizing, and armed me with simple and SUSTAINABLE principles for training, climbing, projecting, and nutrition. I now spend much less time working out, but I have a list of ticked outdoor projects and I feel healthy, strong, and overall fit. Lauren and Caitlin are hilarious and intelligent, and above all relatable. There’s dozens of climbing podcasts out there, but this one is something special.
-
scrapfishiesRefreshing & unpretentiousAs a v average climber who’s been listening from day 1, I genuinely appreciate Lauren and Caitlin’s playful approach to training, nutrition, and podcasting. Sure other podcasts might have recurring visits from Alex Honnold, but do they also teach you the history of “butt ton”? Come for the climbing, stay for the fun facts.

rbuds1113Who knew we need a podcast for the non-elite?!We all feel inspired by the feats of the top 1% in our sport. But what’s even more inspiring is learning perspectives and actionable items for mere mortals who want to progress in their sport! Lauren and Caitlin drop serious climbing training and nutrition knowledge and inspiration that all of us can learn from. They’re not afraid to tackle sensitive topics which we are ALL thinking about. They help the listener digest the mountains of information out there, which helps the listeners figure out what they *actually* need to focus on to level up their game. These professionals are grounded in science and speak from years of coaching/consulting experience. And oh, by the way, it’s an absolute hoot to listen to this pod… there’s nothing better than belly laughing while I’m doing my morning exercise routine. Keep it coming, ladies!! Rosey Olivero

UnderPressureoftheEaglesNestChoss is bunkThis pod rocks. This is a great pod for folks who love climbing and want to be better, and also understand the balance between love of sport and love of life outside the sport.

gitarguy0Lauren sounds like Janet VarneyI want to start by saying that the first episode of this podcast helped me to realize I was having a rough few weeks of workouts because I just wasn’t eating enough. I was petering out every time I tried to work out. Once I started adding some snacks throughout my day and before my workouts, I started actually having energy and feeling strong regularly again. Thank you for the help! Ok so the title of this review…the whole time I’ve been listening to this podcast, I thought that Lauren’s voice sounded super familiar. I’m the second episode when they mentioned Avatar the Last Airbender, it dawned on me! I also listen to the official Last Airbender podcast which is hosted by Janet Varney (who voice acted Korra from the sequel series The Legend of Korra). Lauren and Janet’s voices sound SO MUCH ALIKE, particularly when they’re in the middle of laughing but are still trying to say words. That said, I would love to hear an attempt at a Korra impression 😂 Thanks for your help and expertise, Lauren and Caitlin!

Ryan DevlinLoads of funI love the rapport the hosts have, they’re super funny and the show flows great. Really helpful insights to level up the climbing, well produced and super enjoyable. A great pod!
