The world according to college educated white dudes

I am writing to everyone I can trying to understand why no one is looking to the electoral college to do its main mandate. Thomas Jefferson wrote that it was up to the electoral college to prevent a demigod, even supported by the public, from entering the Presidency. They are not there to simply nod their heads to the results but to review and determine if this person poses a real threat to the democracy of America. Can you speak up?

Dear Rick - Love the show & thank you so much for all your fantastic work in support of Harris & against Trump. My husband and I watched and listened to you just about every day since we found your podcasts, and you’ve helped us deal with this political and social nightmare. That said, we know you’re probably exhausted and bummed out now, as we all are. But please remember that everyone who’s not in the Trump cult (and we are legion) really needs you and those like you now more than ever. We see real, unprecedented danger to everyone & the world with this presidency, and we’re going to need your insight, encouragement and strategy to deal with it over the next 4 years. Here are our 2 questions for you at this juncture: 1. How similar is our current political situation in the US to that in 1932 Germany, when Hitler was just elected? 2. At what point should people who are against Trump move out of the US (assuming that is feasible for them)? a. (sub questions): Where is the line in the sand on this decision, ie, how do we know when it’s time to go (for people who can afford to move out of the US, but it would be a real sacrifice in other ways) ? E.g., When groups of thugs start roving our cities or neighborhoods, threatening/using violence on people openly critical of Trump? Or, sooner than that (most likely), when public figures critical of Trump (d.g., you, Adam Schiff, Jon Stewart, Sam Harris, etc) start becoming silent or leave the US for fear of persecution by the Trump administration? Truth!

I just listened to the latest episode, in which Rick advises us, “Don’t drink their poison,” and addresses “The Elephant in the Room,” AKA the demoralizing message from the Trump camp. I didn’t realize I needed to attend a pep rally, but I did. Thank you, Rick, for creating one.

I just want to say I love your show. I love your show. You make me feel so positive about this election. I always listen to your podcast. Thank you so much for the positivity. I am writing you from Michigan.

I used to love this podcast, but the change in host has been a major setback. Reed was thoughtful and it seems like Rick is just angrier, swears so much I can’t share this comfortably with others, and generally is a less effective and interesting host

Education for voters

I grew up in Washington DC. My dads office was blocks from the Capitol building in the 1950s. I spent years as a kid walking those majestic halls, years as a high schooler and young adult doing the same. Viewing the paintings, the statues, the chambers. It was awesome. First Osama, then the Trump riot, has made this great place almost inaccessible. Shame on people who think patriotism is not for all. How ridiculous. Trump is guilty of treason against our country.

Thank you for all the brilliant billboards and videos you have created. They are definitely getting under Trump’s thin skin. I have an “ask” today. Can you create a video or billboard about Trump accusing Kamala of not doing anything about the border, when he had four years to do something and turned his back on any solutions? I was hoping she would respond to him that way. “Where’s the wall, Donald?” “What did you do to stem the flow of migrants?” Please please address this. Hopefully you can reach her to shut down his accusations. He’ll be apoplectic if she does. Thanks. Sending a donation today.
