Want a podcast that teaches you something amazing everyday? With a phenomenal host? That’s short and super easy to listen to on your drive to work? This is the podcast for you. And for the truly devoted or obsessed, there’s the Sisyphisian goal of trying to catch up and earning you honorary spot in the Completionist’s Club even as more and more episodes release everyday. Though the task is daunting, THIS Sisyphus is indeed happy :)

Best podcast on the market. The amount of information Gary packs into one of these episodes truly satisfies the curiosity itch that has been plaguing me for many years. Highly highly recommend. I decided to start from episode 1 about a year ago and have been slowly catching up since! I just finished the 8/22/22 episode about Luxembourg and had a quick note for Gary. Although they are not noted for sports, we’d be doing them a disservice to not mention the Schleck brothers Andy and Frank who were world class cyclists. Andy even won the Tour de France in the early 2010s. Thanks again for all of your hard work. Hope to leave a comment again when I eventually make the distinguished completionist club.

One of my top 2 podcasts!
What a coincidence! Just yesterday I had been doing research about Palladium, especially for jewelry. So, when I clicked on EED for my daily dose of knowledge and insight this morning, I was pleasantly surprised! Episode 1742 was all about Palladium, Platinum and Rhodium. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Gary give me unique info about each of these metals and their benefits. Thank you Gary for your range of topics, thorough research, and the digestible nuggets you give us about everything…everywhere. You have helped me to remain a lifelong learner! Blessings

A good 30% of the stuff I know is from this podcast.
My dad showed me maybe 7 months ago and I have listened to 1000 I do it in the car when I wake up and when I shower. And I am smarter than all the other 5th graders at overall knowledge now. Keep making them please.

    Great podcast
I don’t think people understand just how hard doing a daily podcast has to be. We are getting many hours of hard work crammed into a 17 minute tube. Sign up for the Patreon already!!!!!

Great podcast! I love history. I highly recommend this podcast. I also love that it’s short. Please add more episodes on espionage and gorilla warfare.

    An Excellent Daily Listen
Gary writes great episodes on topics you never thought you wanted to know about until you hear him speak of them. You will look at the title of an episode such as “the History of Salt” and wonder why you would like to listen. Then you listen and you wonder no more. Fascinating topics will have you listening to multiple episodes when you may have only wanted to learn a single topic. This is my go to for a long walk or run.

    Drives
Recently my family has bought a house a few states away and the drive is about 1 1/2 hours long. During that time we usually put on these podcasts. I love listening to them and learning about new ideas and subjects. Also, I feel they these are not too long for people like me with ADHD. Anyway, thank you a lot for being entertains and extremely interesting!

    You Missed a Crucial Knuckleballer
Love the podcast and am nearly as religious about it as I am about baseball. But I have to call you out on your knuckleball episode. You missed Jim Bouton, a critical part of the history of the knuckleball. A 20 game winner for the Yankees early in his career, he was completely overused (over 520 innings from 1963-64) and was essentially out of baseball by age 27. However he reinvented himself as a knuckleballer, a journey he chronicled in Ball Four, hailed by the New York Times as one of the 100 Best Books of the century. He was also my Dads college roommate and one of his best friends for their entire lives, may they both rest in peace.

    Synchronicity
I recently listened to your podcast on the Schlitz mistake that very afternoon I saw a headline online “is Molson Coors repeating the Schlittz mistake.”Have you ever experienced similar synchronicity having just created or published a podcast only to find it in the news that day? Greg C

    Too many ads
Great short explanations about random subjects. Really interesting, but 3 out of 5 stars because more than 10% of each download is taken up by ads.

Love this show! It’s a daily reminder of how interesting our world is. Thanks, Gary and War Eagle!

    I’m in love!
With the show (and possibly you). 🙂 Seriously, I’m thrilled to have found this podcast, it is exactly perfect for my curious, intelligent, ADHD brain. Little nuggets of extremely interesting, well researched, completely random topics. Just long enough to hold the attention of a scattered mind before it jumps off to something else. I still have about 1,300 episodes to make it to the completionist’s club, but I have no doubt I’ll get there. I do have a topic suggestion- my personal hero, Grandma Gatewood, the woman who saved the Appalachian Trail. If you’ve never heard of her, please read Grandma Gatewood’s Walk. She inspired me to finally get out into the wilderness in my 50’s, and it’s been transformative!! Thank you for all you do!! Jenni Bell

    Finally!!!!
I did it!! I listened to all the episodes and this podcast is a godsend. It has been with me during my workout journey!! Gary has been my workout partner for 600+ days in a row and helped me lose over 100 pounds. I could not have done this without Gary’s storytelling and dry humor!! Some days I want to cut my 5 miles short, but I am able to go the distance because I get sucked in to some obscure moment in history and want to know more!! Thank you Gary for always being with me; helping me better my health and my mind!! BTW I am an Auburn University alum, they have had a historic basketball season which I hope ends in cutting down the nets! Please give me a WAR EAGLE on air!
  • Skunk1010
    Great variety
This show does such a great job of brining the listener into a wide range of topics, from science and math to history and sports. Gray does a very good job of making the subject matter interesting and digestible. His travels allow him to speak on topics far and wide, including my own “back yard” (the Cardiff Giant). Keep up the good work!

    Standing up for Chicago
I love this podcast! I listen to it every day as a way to get my brain started. That said, your attack on the Chicago Bears during your Third Punic War episode stuck with me so much that I made a podcast specifically about that remark… anyway, love the show!

    Great Show!
I love the show! As a member of the completionist club, I am ready to annoy my sister even more by listening to it all again even though she is the one who showed it to me. Do you have any other podcasts you recommend that are like this show?

I’ve caught up and that bums me out
I started listening to this podcast last summer when it was a “check out this other podcast” on a different (not quite as interesting) podcast. The episode was on the history of coffee and I was brewing coffee while I listened. Immediately hooked. Have sent multiple episodes to friends/family who would be interested in that topic. This is the podcast I recommend to others who are looking for something interesting. Only two podcasts left until I’ve listened to them all, and am sad to be down to only one new episode daily from now on.

    What a great podcast!
I just came upon this podcast and now I listen to it everyday when I walk my dog. I love travel and geography and this show is so fun and interesting! Try it!

    Great show
One of the best shows out there me and my dad listen to this often and talk about what we learn, how ever I do wonder if Gary could travel back in time where/when would he go and why?

    Cumbersome Playlist
As smart as this podcast is it would be nice if the episodes (see all) were broken down to each month rather than just one long list.

    One of the best!
I am a member of the Completionist Club, frequent flyer chapter. This is one of my all time favorite podcasts and I listen while traveling and at home. I love the breadth of topics and the occasional deadpan humor. It’s the right length, too. I would like to request more episodes on STEAM topics and maybe slightly fewer episodes about Ancient Rome. I even love listening to encore episodes.
  • thisgurl❤️urshow!!!!
    Love
I love this podcast! All the episodes are interesting and Gary makes boring topics more fun. I love the world war 2 episodes. I love the “operation” episodes.
  • My name is………..
    You sometimes make mistakes.
In your episode about the Dutch water system recently you said that a project would finish in the late 2020s. That already happened, so when did you record these episodes.

    Love Everything including the Epenthesis
Gary, you are prolific and the show is sublimely informative! I enjoy listening on a daily basis and want to ask about your pronunciation of a particular word. This question isn’t a critique but I’ve not heard anyone other than my wife’s family from north central Ohio pronounce the word this way. There is one through line, regardless of topic, that’s voiced when you say ‘across’ with what sounds like an extra letter added at the end of the word, to what I hear as ‘acrossed’. Adding an extra letter sound is known as an epenthesis and the pronunciation of ‘across’ with that ‘t’ which seems to imply a past tense of the word, as in ‘acrossed’. Am I the only listener that hears this? Are you from the Midwest?

    Medal of Honor
Thanks Gary, for making the point that it is “The Medal of Honor” not Congressional MoH. It drives me nuts that almost everyone misnames it. Btw, Chaplin in my Vietnam organization 1967 was awarded MoH. Sadly he died doing it.

    Love, love, love it!
I love this pod cast! The variety of topics, coupled with the proper attention to detail without the host’s inclusion of personal opinion is both welcomed and refreshing. Keep up the great work Gary! As the newest member of the completionist club in North Carolina, I found the club house in need of refreshments so I have filled the fridge with our local favorites: Cheerwine, Sun Drop, and plenty of BBQ. Nothing could be finer than to be in Carolina … unless you are a Panthers fan.

    Tremendous
I adore Everything Everywhere. And I learn something every podcast. Even if the topic is something that I know reasonably well, I still benefit because Gary prepares thoroughly and he always has an original perspective.

Catching up on my general knowledge
I grew up in different countries having different sets of priorities in their history classes, and most of my time was spent learning their languages and not understanding a lot of it, so I have a few gaps in my gen knowledge repertoire. This podcast is exactly what I needed to bridge some of those gaps in an effective and efficient way while raising a new baby. I look forward to my spouse asking me what I learned on Gary’s podcast and sharing my new obtained knowledge of interesting things! Love the format, content, and vibe! Keep it up!

Would have been 5 if he wasn’t a cheese head.
Great podcast and love the verity of topics and how Gary is able to fit so much info into each short episode. Unfortunately he’s a packers fan so -1 star. Bears are 1-0 vs packers in 2025. Keep up the great work and let’s get even more random with the topics this year.

    Impressive,intellectual,inovative,inspiring!
I accidentally came across your podcast and was truly impressed by the intellectual depth and innovative thinking displayed in each episode. Mr. Gary A, is clearly a highly accomplished researcher, debater, photographer, teacher, and traveler. His insights and wisdom are truly remarkable, and I believe he must have an IQ well above 150. Thank you for providing such engaging and enlightening content through your podcast. p.s. epic & legendary response to the A.I. listener review🤣😂 from "aidourtroops" on discord/twitter/facebook

    Best Podcast for Curious Minds!
Hi Gary! I'm Malcolm! I've been listening to your podcast for two years now, ever since the Gunung Pradung episode was first released. Your podcast has always been the best thing for me to start my day with. My voraciously curious mind is always eager to learn about the subjects you discuss, including stuff I've never even heard of before! You've inspired me to potentially travel the world on my own one day. Plus you make math fun, which is great considering that's something I struggle with. Thank you for educating me, this podcast is always a treat!
  • BlondeMike7
Gary Arndt wins at podcasting! 🏆🥇
Well, it took me the better half of a year, but I listened through all 1500+ episodes. Now I'll just be keeping up with all of the new ones. Gary, thank you for bringing this gift of a podcast to my ears. I have a new habit of telling my wife and friends factoids about apples and bananas, iron and aluminum, radiation and microplastics, and the many other things I learn in your episodes. I love to learn and, ergo, therefore, love this podcast. Thank you for the work you put into this. I hope you know it's very much appreciated. I tell everyone about this podcast and can't recommend it enough, especially if you're a curious one like me. Also, I'm glad to hear that your favorite color is yellow, Gary! It's mine, too! It makes me smile 🙂
