I can’t remember how I came across My Time Capsule but it has lodged itself firmly into my weekly rotation. On paper, it shouldn’t appeal as much as it does - I’m an American, 20+ years younger than Mike with little interest and even less knowledge of theater or British television. I have usually never heard of the guest. Why is it then that I have now listened to 200+ episodes and, at times when I just want to put something on in the background, choose My Time Capsule more than any other podcast? I think it’s because of the good nature of the conversations. There doesn’t seem to be an agenda other than learning from various life experiences, laughing at misfortune, commiseration and finding common ground. In that sense it’s a very “safe” listen. I can expect to hear a new perspective from my own with each episode. You get to know the producing team because of different angles of the same family stories show up every now and then. That’s not to say you won’t be caught off guard by some candid, unfiltered stories, dad jokes or capsule choices. I highly recommend this podcast to anyone who enjoys good, entertaining conversations and is open to expanding their world view. This is the podcast I listen to as soon as it drops. It is like joining in a conversation between friends, even when Mike has only just met his guest. As an American with a narrow knowledge of popular culture, I’m usually unfamiliar with the guests’ work, but I still thoroughly enjoy each episode. Mike is one of the best hosts I’ve ever heard-he’s a gem! Yes, Mike, you’re—Brilliant!

This is a really lovely podcast. Simple format, but allows for authentic, meaningful responses from guest. l I enjoy the host’s gorgeous voice and English mannerisms. I would like to see more diversity in his guests, though. Of the 200+ shows, I think I can count on one hand the number of persons of color.

First time listener, subscribed to be sure I could listen to the Earl of Portland (yeah, David Archer). Loved the show, love the premise! All around wonderful. I look forward to both future programs and exploring the back catalog.

Michael Fenton Stevens’ charming chats with his friends about lovely, happy, thrilling, and heartwarming people and events, followed by one sad, wince-worthy, or embarrassing one make for hilarious and touching listening. I find the show perfect for gardening, driving, relaxing at the beach, or running a 10k. Despite every episode so far having been recorded under COVID-19 lockdown, the host, guest, and myself the listener all seem to be in the same room.

Working out, taking a road trip, or mowing the lawn, this podcast is worth your time. Mike actually listens to his guests and draws out of them personable, fun, and informative stories. It’s like listening in to the substantial conversation of two people sitting by an open fire.
