    Educational and Entertaining
I’ve been using Blackstone for oil analyses for over 10 years, but only started listening to the podcast last year. I learn something new every episode! Often times, questions I didn’t even know I had are answered in the various discussions. Good stuff!

Great for nerds and newbs alike
I’m an automotive nerd who always likes learning about new aspects of the hobby. Joe explains things in an easy to understand way and somehow, things don’t really become repetitive episode after episode. If you’re curious about used oil analysis or just looking to explore a new alley of the automotive hobby, it’s worth checking out.

    Blackstone Joe makes learning awesome!
I’ve binged through the first 50 episodes while driving 125-350 miles a day for work and I am hooked. I actually had known about Blackstone Labs for years thanks to forums and YouTube but I had never really thought about sending my own oil to be analyzed. I always thought “ah, that’s for souped up stuff that gets ran hard and I don’t need that for my daily driver” until I bought my own 263,xxx mile diesel truck a few months back, and it had the oil I bought the truck with. I was wondering how this truck was wearing so I requested a sample bottle and it came with this nice little sticker about Slick Talk. So I looked up the podcast and started listening to it and was hooked from the get-go! I’ve learned a lot about oil, good music to check out, and have gotten to know a great group of people at Blackstone thanks to this amazing podcast. Keep on keeping on Blackstone Joe! I’ll close out with a quote from one of my favorite musicians that proved to be correct after listening to Slick Talk: “Motor oil is motor oil, just keep the engine clean!” ~ Sturgill Simpson - “Keep it Between the Lines”

    Engaging and informative
This show has just the balance of fun to information just right. I have learned a lot about just how useful oil analysis can be, how to best sample my oil, but also had some good laughs as Blackstone Joe cracks a few wise ones. My only comment is that in the most recent episode “no oil no problem” I think they had the volume and length of the fun sound effects just a tad too high. This show is a big part of the reason I will be sampling with Blackstone Labs from now on!

    Informative and entertaining
Great podcast. I love to listen to it with my son. We restore cars in our spare time. It keeps us close as we both age.

Great Podcast for any car guy
The is a great podcast for any car guy. The information covered in the podcast applies to every oil used in an internal combustion engine and more. BlackStone Joe has already covered a lot of concepts I have wondered about for years. From how the Flashpoint testing works to what a TBN test really does. There is also bonus information in a lot of these episodes that covers things like aircraft engines and other fluids used in both cars and planes.

    Great information
The internet is very polarized on the topic of oil. It’s great to hear the facts from an unbiased source. The information talked about really clears up many of the he said she said myths about the oil industry. Love the podcast.

    Blackstone Joe is the man!
This is a great show for anyone that’s into cars, trucks, planes, or anything mechanical. It’s not just about oil and samples. Joe does a great job of explaining the oil sample process, the history of engines and oil analysis and what it’s like to work at Blackstone. He gets some very well informed guests to come on and explain oil. He turned oil into a successful and entertaining podcast which I wasn’t sure was possible. Give it a listen!

    Great info
A lot of great information on all oil platforms from Blackstone Joe. Not just your average oil show. There do’s and don’ts, myths and facts.

    Very good podcast!
Friend told me about Blackstone for used oil, and I found out they had a podcast when researching the company. Listened to the episodes on a recent road trip, and definitely learned from it.

    Entertaining show
You may think this is going to be boring, but if you’re a car or aircraft aficionado, you will like this. It is quite informative. Plus just listening gives you confidence that those folks at Blackstone know their stuff.

    Great technical podcast
Joe is a great host and has a nice way of explaining the technical aspects of oil analysis, automotive and aviation engine wear and getting to know the folks in his world. I’d recommend for anyone who wants to know about what’s happening inside your engine.

    Valuable, understandable information
Joe does a great job conveying and explaining various aspects of oil and oil analysis. The guests are a positive as well to get more thoughts and experiences in an episode.

Great info about used oil analysis
Joe (not Joey), offers some great insight into the background of used oil analysis. Wish I drove more to do more of my own.

    Awesome Podcast
Slick Talk is an awesome podcast. Through listening, I have learned so much about oil analysis and engines in general. Each episode is full of relevant information and presented in a thorough way while keeping it fun and exciting. I have enjoyed getting to know Joe and the few characters at Blackstone through this show. Keep up the great work!

One of the most interesting automotive podcasts
What could have been just a plug for the business is an amazing podcast about super granular (in a good way) of all the details of oil analysis. Some episodes have some really interesting personal antidotes and a revolving door of Blackstone employees keeps it fresh. My only gripe, too short! :)

    A new perspective
Oil analysis has been helpful, but hearing the commentary on this podcast makes me understand the engine and the accompanying analysis results in a deeper level. If you’re a tech/spec head and not just a wrench turner this podcast is for you.
  • gyropilot
    Educational and Interesting
If you’re into wrenching and / or mechanical stuff, then I think you’ll really enjoy this podcast about everything related to oil and fluid analysis. I sure do. Very well done!

    I knew nothing about oil
Until good ole Joe showed me the way. Oil is life and life is oil. For the better part of my teens I had no appreciation of what was running thru my John Deere. Now I know it was crap! My engine runs much much better and Joe is to blame. Joe.... I love you.
  • Dhatgjjzrhvdushdyh
    Super interesting
I am a car guy and never new much about oil other then you just change it every so often. This podcast breaks it down in a friendly way that is super insightful. Love learning about this stuff. Keep up the good work!

    Long time customer now subscriber!
I have used Blackstone for engine oil analysis for a few years now. I love having data on my engine health. I am glad there is a podcast dedicated to oil lubrication and analysis. There is SOOOO much misinformation out there on oil. I hope this podcast can dispel some of those myths. Keep ‘em coming! 👍

Information that EVERYONE needs to know
My extent of car knowledge is that I own one. That alone is a reason to listen. Learning more about what could be going on in my car is important for my own peace of mind as I get from point A to B. Anyone with a car needs to listen.

Very well done .... informative .... Mr Adams is very knowledgeable !!

    Not a car guy
Wouldn’t really consider myself a “car guy” in any sense, however as a mechanically minded individual, who also own a car, I found this very interesting and helpful. The host is obviously knowledgeable and thorough and listening to him answer FAQs has already informed my next oil purchase. Give it a listen you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
