252 outdoorsYou’re doing good workAccidentally stumbled across his podcast being a survivor and someone who struggles with depression knowing that there’s a community that is more than willing to listen and help. Thank you.

Mousetrap MarvinConsidering it, figured I’d check out this podcast first. Not joking. So I’m giving it five stars because it’s keeping me from ending it right now in this moment. Even though I have not listened to a single episode. I think the cause is noble because I do believe most suicides are mistakes. But not all, there are exceptions. I’d rather not get into my story, but in my 40+ years, I’ve suffered always.
-
quedibleThank youI discovered this podcast soon after a close friend took her own life. I know it’s unlikely her suicide could have been prevented, and there’s so much here that might have helped her feel less alone and that’s helpful to all of us who experience severe depression or bipolar. I love the way the episodes are presented: we’re all in this together. Thank you for your honesty, compassion and dedication to producing important content, and thanks to all your wonderful guests.

Wytch1111You should quit this podcastJFC-you’re talking about blood pressure and beard trims-your actual voice makes me want to kill myself more. You Are Awful

punchclockWow. (& not in a good way).I typically don’t bother with reviews, but this seemed worthy. I tried. I listened to a few episodes. I couldn’t make it through a full one. Repeatedly. Just another random person throwing trigger words in his title and saying nothing. Less than nothing. Preaching a side quest. Bait & switch with zero relevance. Not a fan. If it helps you, then that’s a positive. Seems likes a target agenda with a hard right turn to me. Good luck to ya.

FlatbedyellowWhat’s in a name?Podcast title is a little off-putting by I think that’s by-design. The secrecy and shame of suicide ideation is a real part of the problem of isolation. Someone else knowing that I’m listening to this podcast opens doors to conversations that can help me and them.

Dadin00You’re wrong about 988Hey, thank you for this podcast. You’re wrong about not posting the suicidal hotline number (Episode 1). You never know when someone is going to click on those numbers and end up talking to someone instead of killing themself. Most of the times is just a matter of seconds to change your mind or go the other way. Dial 988 Call or text 24/7.

BRUH ha made you say it 🤣ThanksYes, society does not speak on this topic. I love the idea of how to cope and communicate on such complex issues.

Karley127UpliftingLeo speaks from the heart and is uplifting for anyone to listen to!

Mrs.TweedyReal TalkThis podcast is like having a chat with a good friend who really gets what you're going through. “Before You Kill Yourself” is refreshingly real and unpretentious. They don't throw around big words or psych lingo – it's just straight-up conversations about mental health.
-
CoffeChrisTalking about what needs to be talked aboutLeo combines his humor, education and experience to approach what most people don’t. It’s an authentic message of hope and it helped save my life and give me the purpose I needed to break free of the suicidal idealizations that kept me stuck in place.

E~ClassGuest and listenerAs a stand-up comedian with a psychology education, Leo Flowers has deep, captivating, and insightful conversations with his guests! He’ll get you to laugh, learn, and develop skills that can help in a variety of ways!! Thanks for the great content Leo!! I was also an early guest back on April 29th, 2019. Don’t judge him for that 😅

ToddlerMommy3111755Thank youI lost my mom last year and some days the grief, sadness /suicidal are so bad. I keep this podcast in my feed for those days when I’m at the edge and need to pull myself back in. Today I came across “what makes life worth living” and before I even turned it on I knew it was exactly what I needed to hear. Thanks for doing this podcast for those out there struggling. It means more when it’s coming from someone who admits that he also struggles.

DisPiperGurl7320Thank youI appreciate you making this podcast 😀

HijessiiWell spokenListened to episode 441 and loved how the host explained his emotions. I have always felt similar but felt isolated because when I spoke to people about it they just often advised "who cares what people do or think", which doesn't always help out. Really enjoyed this episode, I'm a silent supporter but this episode brought me to give the pod 5 stars. 🤍

xLeialFunny and relatable!I learned about Leo’s podcast after attending his comedy show in San Diego. I took one listen and was hooked! I appreciate that he brings light to the subject of mental health as I struggle with my mental health and it can be a taboo topic of discussion. Leo is well spoken and makes you feel understood and it’s a bonus that he’s funny too! Thank you for creating a safe space for us listeners!

Sho_yueThe conversation that needs to be hadI first saw Leo at a comedy show and found him hilarious. When I found out he did a podcast on mental health, this piqued my interest completely as I struggle with mental health. So I listened to the most recent episode and it hooked my in with the “exit signs.” It got me thinking, “What are my exit signs? Do I even have any? Do I need to look for what they are?” So after that, I went back to the beginning, and listening to the first episode. Then the next. And so on and so on. Each episode I’ve listened to so far has been insightful, food for thought, as well as something you never would have never thought you would hear about mental health. Each guest has brought something great to the table, think of it as a potluck and each person brought their own dish, because they definitely brought a dish to serve.

Bryan GrahamFrom one Black psychologist to anotherJust wanted to say thank you and that I appreciate all that you do. I discovered you a few months ago. You were there at one of the roughest points in my life when I was unemployed and trying to finish graduate school while living off of the last of my savings. Life still isn’t smooth, but you remind me that my battles are not in vain and that I don’t have to accept my life as is. It was more important than I realized for me to hear another Black man going through similar struggles. I feel like you’re an old friend of mine who I catch up with when we meet in a city somewhere. I will continue to listen to the podcast to learn from you. Thank you.

alaynanicholereviewI personally listen to his podcasts on Spotify but whether you listen on here or Spotify I just wanna say his podcasts are just so refreshing he really makes you feel like have someone there that really KNOWS that what you’re going through is temporary and I love how he just makes you think and he really digs in it just feels so comforting listening to him when I am stressed out because i have a hard time speaking to “real” people so when I listen to him even just talking about his experiences it makes me feel safe if that makes sense. Leo is someone I have absolute respect for, please listen to his podcasts if you have a chance. (:

The Bayou BookslayerSolitary:A biography by Albert WoodfoxI’ve been a listener for awhile. I can’t remember whose podcast I heard you on first but you suggested a book on that particular podcast for kids who had been abused by their parents. My dad was in Angola prison in Louisiana for 25+ years. The book you mentioned was written by Albert Woodfox who was in Angola as well.

hoopsauceMuch needed conversationToo many people are afraid to discuss the darker side of mental health. Leo brings an honest and reverent yet humorous attitude toward suicide. His guests are professional and knowledgeable, but most of all, interesting. I’m thankful to have found this And will recommend to others.

iahbemlsidIronically, this podcast confirms that I SHOULD kill myselfI feel like I said enough, right?

marietherapiesA Strong Voice in a Conversational VoidThis podcast has to exist on media in a world of social media that avoids the subject of suicide. As a therapist, I know that sometimes suicide is averted by a google search and feeling like someone is out there that understands you. Leo is kind and understanding, his voice is soothing and message profound. Thank you!
-

OwenwhentworthPsychiatrist recommendsThis is a really fabulous podcast, and Leo is a gifted interviewer. He’s really looking for those pearls that help offer help to people when they’re hopeless. He’s able to pick up on not just guests expertise, but their humanity, and that’s the thing that offers the lifeline to people who are on the edge — knowing we’re all human together. Thank you for your part in helping prevent suicide.

Noirebutterly91An amazing timeI was interviewed by Leo and I have to say it didn’t feel like one. The conversation flowed smoothly, he listened, echoed my thoughts, and it carried on the conversation. I’m generally an anxious person, but I didn’t feel that weight during our talk. I hope his platform expands so he can reach more listeners. It’s important we spread mental health awareness.

bella56789123Always new, different & informational contentFirst of all, Leo is the best. He has a wonderful sense of humor that lights up a room, but he’s also truly down to earth and willing to confront the deep issues and struggles that many people are facing. Secondly, this podcast is incredible. When I first saw the title, I expected the episodes to be fairly heavy and perhaps difficult to listen to. I was so wrong. Leo brings on people from all walks of life, and they talk about their talents, passions, pain, struggles and how they have healed and supported their mental health. I love how each episode is different from the last. It’s refreshing, inspiring and always an educational experience. I am learning everything - from how to be an entrepreneur to how to deal with challenges to conflict management - from listening to this podcast. This is hands-down one of the best podcasts I’m subscribed to and I can’t wait for more episodes!
-
Matthew McCoyThis podcast is a perfect balance about the importance of mental healthHIGH key recommend this podcast! Leo has a great conversational tone and ablility to keep interviews free flowing. As well as, an ability to discuss a difficult subject in a light hearted way, that's still informational and respectful.
