ROAD PODCAST (Reflections Of A DJ)

Music #227

Welcome to the R.O.A.D. Podcast.  The show gives you unfiltered opinions from the eyes and ears of 3 seasoned DJs from the Las Vegas nightclub industry. DJ Crooked and DJ Neva come to us by way of New York; Manhattan and The Bronx respectively. Both relocated to Vegas in the early 2000s to open, what was then, Light and Jet Nightclub.   Crooked is known for his workhorse mentality, and high-energy DJ sets, but has never been one for the industry politics.  While DJ Neva has earned his OG status due to his countless years of experience in the DJ game. In 2007, they brought a piece of home with them by founding KNYEW (an acronym for “Keeping New York Every Where), a successful clothing brand, the first of its kind to be seen in Las Vegas. Similarly, Jaime Da Great grew up in LA. Jaime, while making a huge name for himself in the sneaker industry, has shifted his focus to becoming a full-time DJ.

    Best of the Best
I’ve been a fan of the R.O.A.D. podcast for a minute. Each DJ’s perspective on music, current events, nightlife, DJ culture is fruitful and everyone’s personalities balance each other out. I look forward to new episodes dropping every week and even after four years it never gets dull or outdated. You can feel their professionalism, nothing sounds forced as the R.O.A.D. team continues to grow organically. Bravo to everyone and thank you for continuing to deliver us the best weekly DJ podcast out, hands down!

Aspiring DJ in Miami... value the insight
I’m someone who’s trying to break into the industry in Miami, and the number of mentions the group makes to different DJs helped me tremendously to figure out the local scene. Without the podcast, it would take me FOREVER to figure that out on my own unless I went out all the time to the different clubs but I got a day job that I’d like to keep lol. Also the podcast gives me something to aspire to since I can listen to other DJs work, creative insight into how other DJs think about DJing, sometimes #realitytvshowdrama and a good laugh. I try to listen every week. I have trouble getting through the episodes sometimes because of the length (some 2-3 hours long), so I just have to listen to the same episode over multiple days or I just speed it up x2. I like the content but I think it can come through in less time.

Amazing stories and a look into the industry
I’m a younger guy that came into the industry as a wedding DJ, working for my dads company—which is cool but I’ve had a limited perspective. I’ve been able to learn sooo much about the broader world and history of DJing through this podcast, and it’s been very inspiring to hear about these amazing DJs and listen to their mixes. Thanks so much guys for making this podcast!!!!!

    Dope DJ Podcast!
Can't seem to get enough of the ROAD Podcast. Very funny and informative podcast on the lives of the nightclub DJ's and the current state of Music. Some stand-out DJ interviews include Zimmie, Vice, Sizzahandz, Shecky Green, Skribble, Audio1 to name a few. Much luv to the Road Podcast crew DJ Crooked, DJ Neva, D-Miles and Jaime Da Great.

    Great guests.
The episodes where they have other djs on as guests are great. The one thing I could do without is Jaime. He interrupts the flow of the show all of the time with nonsense and bad attempts at being funny. Update: just MUTE Jaime’s microphone.
  • jsaydo
    Word up
I came across this via a Zimmie search and found this. It reminds me of listening to the Word Up show in the mid 90's where Warren and 5'8 would talk between songs. That's the highest complement I could give. Next time I get a sandwich from Lee's, I'm going to stop in and say hi.
  • DJMochee
Jaime kid super annoying. Episodes much better without him

    Great Insight!
Without question, my favorite podcast. Great mix of personalities and insight. Yesssirrr!
  • Djdashing
    Great listen besides one flaw
Love the guests and hosts but the fact that they say “pause” every few minutes like they’re 13 years old makes it unbearable at times. It’s 2018, time to let that one go. Even Roctakon noticed in his ep Revising - Fashen ep is unlistenable - the hosts are worst than teenagers

The best insight of djing in Vegas and much more
This is one of the best dj podcast with anecdotes of djing in Vegas, history of music trends in Vegas with some incredible guest and how to conduct business as dj and miscellaneous tidbits on how to act and tell stories correctly and with brevity. The way I came across this podcast was by my boy Four color zack (pause). Keep up the good work and leave the dude Jamie alone for his bad story telling famo ha
