    Absolutely AMAZING!
I found this podcast a little over a year ago and I've been binge listening from the beginning to every.single.episode. Even the episodes with titles I didn't think would apply to me, there was still information I could use. Because of my season of life, micro decluttering is all I can do without getting completely overwhelmed, so your tip about keeping a box for donation items has been extremely helpful. Every time I open a cupboard or drawer, or read to my kids etc, I will intentionally look for anything there that's not being used and put it straight into the donation box. As my baby is out growing her clothes, rather than save "the favorites", I will intentionally do 1 more wear, take pictures of her in them, then add these clothes to that donation box. I love shopping at thrift stores, but lately I've been leaving empty handed because I've found that nothing in there is worth taking back over the space I've just cleared out in my home, and that feeling is AWESOME!! Thank you for sharing your heart, joy and expertise with the world. I still have a couple of years worth of podcasts to catch up on and I look forward to gaining so much more of your knowledge.

I’m looking forward to this next season of Kirsty’s podcast/life!
I’ve enjoyed bazillions of hours of Kirsty and Amy together, and I know I’ll continue to enjoy listening to each of them as they shine in their own ways!

    Extremely Saddened
I just found that the two of you had gone your separate ways! This is heartbreaking. I hope you can both be at peace at heart, body and mind. Life is to short to live with regrets, so I hope neither of you have them. My heart to both of you.

    So incredibly helpful!
I discovered this podcast probably 2 months ago through the Frugal Friends podcast and have been binging ever since. I really resonate with Amy as I am a very organized person. I considered myself “semi-pro” at getting rid of stuff because I have had to deal with stuff after moving grandparents, losing grandparents, losing my dad, and moving my mom into assisted living. However, after listening to this podcast, I have been able to ask MYSELF the important questions that Amy and Kirst have planted in my head to really eliminate more of the clutter. I have fought going paperless but have now enrolled in online statements. I have gotten past the barrier of “I spent good money on that”. And on and on. These ladies have such heart, such wisdom and experience. Love all the great interviews! Thank you so much for all you do!

    Greetings from Peru 🇵🇪
This is my favorite Decluttering podcast! Listening to Amy and Kristy feels like hanging out with friends! I usually listen to the podcast while I go around the house trying to conquer the clutter or while I’m driving. They keep things fun and have lots of great tips!

    Black Licorice is the Best!!
Greetings from Kentucky, USA- I default to your podcast whenever I’m traveling or cleaning - I love how you truly speak to the heart of clutter and not just to the clutter. I’ve probably covered your entire catalogue by now but truly love episodes that deal with the sentimental items - things that came from granny’s house or the article when mom moved, etc. and books- our house is full of these things, my moms house is full of these things, for no good reason other than they are hard items to unload. So I listen over and over again and slowly pick my way through the items and let go. One quick story about it- I have always held on to cards (no one sends them anymore but I do keep all of the cards my kids and husband give me). I decided it was time to let go and so last summer, one hot July day, I sat in my garage and opened a box of cards from the 1970 s and 1980s. I found one that wasn’t even opened yet- from my grandmother, who was my soul mate for all intents and purposes - she sent it to me when I was at camp so I would have it when I got back, and she died suddenly while I was at camp. I never opened at that time - just tucked it away because it was too emotional - it was the very last card she ever mailed and the very last words she ever said to me. That was July, 1989 and happened to be on the same day she died (which I didn’t realize until I looked at the date). I have moved a dozen times since then and it made the cut each move. So I opened it, and sat and read it and cried and clutched it. Inside was a $5 bill- which is tucked away in my wallet now. Needless to say the well of emotion at that time caused me to stop progress for a bit but in that moment I felt so thankful I had kept those cards. Those sentimental items are hard- especially when attached to something as beautiful as my grandma. Thank you for creating a space where, even if it is on the floor of my garage on a hot July kentucky day, I feel safe and able to do that hard work. And, Kirsty, I love your sweet laugh. And black licorice! 😁gretchen

    Multitasking fun!
I look forward to Amy and Kirsty’s voices every Sunday. It’s a time that I am motivated to multitask laughter, cleaning, and learning. It’s a very productive time that goes all too quickly. Thank you so much ladies for all you do! Abi, Colorado, USA

No longer feel like I’m treading water!
Because of implementing what I’ve heard on your podcast our home has become a better serving space for us. Even on a Monday morning, after a weekend home with our family of seven I’ve had the time and headspace to complete some procrastinated repairs and write an overdue review before 11am! I’m so encouraged to be moving forward rather than just trying not to drown! Thank you!

This is exactly what I needed!
In the beginning of lockdown I purged my closets and somehow, after 16+ months of being home with nowhere to go, the whole house just seems to have doubled with clutter! I searched for a pod to motivate me and found Kirsty & Amy. First, I LOVE their accents & find Kirsty’s voice, in particular, to be very soothing. Further to that, they are very good at staying on topic and not filling the beginning of the show with random, unrelated banter. Tonight, I took one small step toward removing this chaos from my life & in 30 mins had TWO trash bags of clothes ready for donation. And that’s only the beginning. THANK YOU for being a friendly, judgement free motivator. I especially love the “just one more” mindset and apply it daily!

A great companion on my decluttering journey
I found this show about a year ago and have listened through most of the back catalogue. It’s a great companion to listen to as I declutter and I feel motivated every time I hear more about how these women have simplified their own lives and their clients’ lives to live more intentionally. It’s not about change for the sake of change but to improve your life day to day!

    Pieced it together
I am a mom of a adult male who has been struggling for years with feeling odd and less then everyone around him. Although this was geared towards moms it was extremely helpful for me to finally start to understand this disorder of the neurological system. I feel like this is our first step towards really helping him deal with anger and depression. Thank you

Kirst and Ames- I am so grateful for your companionship in my ears over this past uncertain year of Covid. I started by listening to the oldest episodes first and then added in the new episodes when you began your daily ISO series. I’ve laughed and cried along with you and made tons of progress on my decluttering journey. Your Facebook community is a special place where I have been inspired and cheered on by others on the same path to freedom. Your compassion, empathy, grace, and love just shine through all you do. Thank you, thank you!

    Affirming!
Too often, the work done at home - often by women - is not given proper value. In generations past, women had fewer professional options, but at least were culturally taught that the work done at home is real work. I think this sentiment has faded into the background - though the work is still there. I’m very organized, but my family of five still keeps me busy and it can be hard to tackle the challenges of house and home. The Art of Decluttering keeps me motivated and affirms that what I do for my family and home matters. Also - thanks for the Michigan shout-out! We in Michigan usually say we’re “Michiganders.” (And with the competitive rivalry between University of Michigan and Michigan State, many also identify as being either Wolverines or Spartans.). Still loving the show - Erin in MI (Wolverine)

    Keep on inspiring me
I just heard you had a one star review and wanted to reject their ideas of you being annoying or laughing too much! We all need to laugh at ourselves and your energy, enthusiasm and passion comes through and motivates. I strive for an intentional/minimalistic life and listening to your podcast keeps me spurred on in my journey as children accumulate junk, have busy schedules and family gives us stuff thinking it is enriching our lives. I need your regular reminders and tips and focus. I think of you as my friends walking with me on what is a daily struggle and journey as we seek balance and intentionality and attempt to pass that on to our kiddos. Well done! Keep up the good work of inspiring.

I listened to “sleep” while in bed
You called me out the other night to post a review as I listened to the “sleep” episode while going to sleep. It was great timing as I’m nearly all caught up with past episodes. Your podcast popped up a few weeks ago when I was searching for decluttering podcasts. I’ve been on a declutter journey for a large part of 2020. I have always loved to be organized but I’m a wife and mother of 4 boys and it’s an uphill battle of “stuff”. I have gotten really good at not bringing new things into our home, but I’m also a creative person who can see usefulness in EVERYTHING and find it very hard to let things go in case I need them later. Thank goodness I’m not very sentimental or our house would be bursting at the seams. This summer on a camping trip. I picked up a pile of books on organizing from the library to take along and I was struck by the fact that every organizer out there said that you have to purge before you can organize. So I came back home and started cleaning out drawers and bookshelves and closets. Finding your podcast was great motivation and entertainment to continue decluttering. I’m far from finished decluttering but we have taken several loads of donations to thrift shops in the last few months and the load is slowly getting lighter. I still find it hard to let go of projects or hobbies that I haven’t touched in years, but I just keep listening to your podcasts and sometimes you say the perfect thing that makes me realize I can let go of an item (or a pile of items!). In the meantime, I just keep decluttering the easier items. Thanks so much for the free words of wisdom and the doses of laughter, I enjoy listening to two friends who love what they do. 😄

    ADHD Teacher, Wife, Mom, Matriarch
Wow! I have found many different ways to describe my brain by listening to your podcast! I struggle and struggle and struggle and still can’t get past my piles or ever get totally organized. I have been diagnosed with adult ADHD for the past 20 years, I do take medication. I also became our family matriarch when I was only in my 20s. That being said, my home is an accumulation of family history. I also know for me if something is out of sight it is out of mind. I am going to bookmark this podcast, listen to it often, and share it with colleagues and friends. I am in the US, so I hope I am able to find the books you suggest. I also subscribe to this podcast so that I can continue to flood my brain with tips and tricks. I love your open, light atmosphere. I smile as I listen. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

    Hi from San Francisco
Kirsty and Amy - thank you! I can’t remember when I first came across your podcast but I was hooked and even went back to listen until the beginning. I learn something every time and it’s been wonderful to have you by my side on the decluttering journey, slowly but steadily. I particularly love “don’t put it down, put it away” but unfortunately haven’t convinced everyone in the household to love it quite as much. “Everything in its place” is a good one too. I also love your accents as they are lovely weekly reminder of Australian family we don’t see as much as we would like particularly right now. All the best - Frances

    Me!! I’m an R!!
Thank you so much for being a bright spot in my week, ladies. I found you during the first weeks of lockdown here in the US when I was going mad being in my house with all the stuff (and all my family 😉). I’m not a natural tidying type, but marriage has brought me to a new level of trying to keep our house organized so my husband feels more comfortable. This is his space too, and as much as I fume in my head sometimes about picking up the living room for the 3rd time that day (4 kids playing in our house ALL day), I honestly do like the house better when it’s tidy too. So, cheers to you ladies for being my company when I pop in my earbuds to tidy. Some days that is the only “alone” time I can manage, and you make it fun, so thank you a million times over. Love from the US-Renee

I have been hooked on this podcast for a few months and I can’t get enough! I love the very specific tips in each episode. The episodes on Offloading and Freebie clutter are some of my favorites so far.

    The Secret Ingredient
I’ve tried to declutter and organize my home so many times just to have it become messy again. These ladies truly understand the psychology of attachment to “stuff”, and how to explain what the real “cost” of clutter is in our lives. No exaggeration - they have changed my life by giving me a changed perspective. Oh, and they are extremely entertaining as well! I’ve laughed. I’ve cried. I’ve loved every minute of it since the first podcast. Wishing you continued success and happiness, Amy & Kirsti!

    “The Five E’s”
There are countless podcasts available, so my personal rule is to only choose those that provide at least 3 of “Required 5 E’s”: Encouragement, Enlightenment, Education, Entertainment and Elevation. The Art of Decluttering provides all 5! I’ve loved home organization and curated living for decades, but through “The Art of Decluttering” I am learning fresh ways to assist my extended family and friends in their in their goals for a simplified life. Thank you, Amy and Kirsty! You podcast IS art!

    Fantastic & Addictive
I started listening to The Art Of Decluttering a few weeks ago while packing for a pandemic-era international move with two kids. It’s helped me declutter while I pack, envision how to organise my new home, and (sort of) maintain my sanity. I love all Kirsty and Amy’s tips and their senses of humour! Really fantastic - Thank you!!!

    Practical and do-able processes explained
I just love this podcast. I started listening about a year ago when I started downsizing. I so enjoyed binging on past episodes for hours while I Decluttered along with my new friends down under. I was pretty bummed when I was all caught up and now had to wait an entire week to hear from Amy and Kirsty. Flash forward now to the pandemic lockdown and, good glory, they made iso episodes EVERY DAY! What a ray of sunshine in a time of doom and gloom. Thank you so much ladies, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart. During a time when we all needed some positivity, you were there every day being our best friends. And I never thought I could laugh so hard until the towel episode. Pure comedy genius. Overall, I only have good vibes and clear direction from this team. And the book is a wonderful reference when I get stuck and need a boost of positive you-can-do-it energy. My only complaint is that I have to wait a week for new episodes. I’m going through Amy and kirsty withdrawal!

    Two lovely ladies
I enjoyed listening to Amy & Kirsty before COVID-19, and I absolutely love their Iso episodes. They are two lovely ladies with amazingly big hearts. You can't help but feel like they are your best friends too. Since I live in the U.S., I call them the "Aussie Organizers" when I tell my husband about something I heard on the podcast. I've learned tons about organizing, but even more about Australians. For my American co-listeners, here are a few translations: bench = counter, cutlery = silverware, crockery = dishes, op shop = resale store (Goodwill/Salvation Army), Bunnings = home improvement store (Home Depot/Lowe's) and Tim Tams = amazingly delicious looking (I've never had them) chocolate-covered cookies. Another benefit for U.S. listeners during the Iso episodes – time travel. Travel to the future with Kirsty and Amy as Australia is a day ahead of us when the episodes drop. Keep up the great work ladies!

Keep your lovely spirits twinkling with zest and spunk and grace and kindness
(Sunday, February 16, 2020) Hello, lovely ladies! Just a note to thank you for the reference to my thoughts, which you read ON-AIR. Say that three times, and it still doesn’t sink in! Thank you for your gracious support of all struggling mortals. No one is exempt from the rigors of living. You help. (Original post, December 31, 2019) I have been listening to your podcasts back to back to back in order to help a young family who have been suffering. The mom was injured in childbirth; inability to move about for three years now has tilted the house into a hazardous environment. I care for a pet of theirs while they are away; each time they have had to go out of town, I coordinate with both mom and dad to prioritize tasks. So much more I am moved to add, but I am just back from a six-hour tidy, and I was only then hearing the Survey episode (as I was pacing the expenditure of my remaining gas-fumes of energy in order to gather up and go.) I found it so painful to hear the crushed flowers of gentle pain in your voices, each at different junctures, but both distinct in the slight retreat from the usual soundscape I have grown to understand and appreciate with every hearing. I have autism; I see a picturescape of how I feel before I can put it into words. When I hear you two, I see a quilt with a central starburst that radiates outward in long, arrowhead diamond shapes. Your back-and-forth creates a sound-color scape that reflects the quilt’s pattern in an interleaving of your voices. One voice has a distinct sound-color of “bubble and zest”, and it plays hopscotch with the other voice, which has a tendency towards gentle compassion in mellifluously flowing tones. I have listened to many episodes multiple times, as I had YOU for company.... casting a light of clarity and purpose in a heartbreaking garden -both of new growth (and fierce-bursting buds) -and of decay .....to better guide me in efforts to execute of useful work. I am too bushed to write more.. except to add that I sorrowed to hear your voices speaking in such a subdued way during the “Survey Results” episode. Please keep heart in doing your good work. dateline: February 6th, 2020 Update (Only because this note appending the original note is my only way to write you another review, even though it ought to stand alone. (You are in a front-row seat to my version of autism... I often become confounded by “non-intuitive” design.) I am now listening to you all from your first episode onwards, wanting to hear chronological development of not only your Broadcast “chops” and your Content Development + Delivery, but also your emotional wellness with the growing success of your podcast and offshoot ventures. The world is bigger than what our tiny mammal brains can grasp. Your kind thoughts carry far and wide on the electronic “winds”; your physical hands are in Australia, in smaller (more actionable) circles of influence. Momentum of enthusiasm is intoxicating; we are often tipped nearly PAST a “recovery” point BEFORE we perceive the strident shrieks and the discordant chorus of those in our wake, from people who are known to us and people who are not. Too often we are witness to popular figures (legendarily, rock stars) who are loved to pieces.... and who often later FALL to pieces. I cherish this podcast contribution you offer to us: with TOOLS to fashion hope... + with SPIRIT to discover a horizon ahead... and I also cherish the glimpses of your precious families: -in the present, -from your past. To the degree you lovely ladies: •are attuned to suffering and •are devoted (and called) to alleviation of that suffering, your contribution is a gift to the world you grace. To stay vulnerable amidst such constant suffering around us is hard on each of us; with your greater public exposure, you shall be exposed to exponentially more lives, and woes, (and joys)..... and just more FRICTION of the crossing of your “life threads” with those life threads of the innumerable souls within earshot of your e-voices. Pace e-mail responses, dear souls. The NEEDS of US, the multitude, are boundless (in aggregate), whereas the ENERGIES (and conscious hours) of YOU, our dynamic duo, are finite. Guilt is pointless. (Who wants to do a bad job?) The CHALLENGE, when guilt pokes its needle-nose into our awareness, ... the CHALLENGE is to reframe the scope of the goal. Better yet, to reframe the scope of peaceful “being”. If you stopped your podcast THIS VERY DAY (and I would not be a proponent of that if only MY concerns were paramount), know that you have planted seeds of hope (and notions of agency) in many hearts, in many LIVED lives, in many lives peripheral to those which you directly touch (whether by hand OR by ear). Keep tending your gardens well, for you have a chance not only to habitualize your ability to care well for your lovely selves, ..to establish hard-won habits of self-stewardship to last a whole lifetime..., but also to be • behavioral templates • who our DAUGHTERS can see as • POSITIVE reference points • in this toxically appearance-warped world. Thank you.

    What I Didn’t Know I Needed!
I recently realized how much guilt and overwhelm I feel about my house! This podcast has helped me not only with practical tips for getting my house organize but also the encouragement and comfort I needed to hear — that I’m not alone in my overwhelm and my problems are solvable! Just discovered this podcast yesterday and have been binging ever since. Thank you!

    Micro Decluttering
Got a minute? I really enjoy listening to these podcasts. I listen to them when I take a walk and it inspires me to to do something that day on my decluttering goal. This morning I decluttered half of a kitchen drawer while waiting on my coffee. (I wasn't even fully awake)

Helps you ask yourself great questions
I started listening to this podcast because I have a podcast called Trashmagination about the creative reuse of items that people often throw away. I find that some professional organizers are so focused on helping their customers remove clutter that they don’t address the environmental impacts of these choices. Amy & Kirstie definitely tackle these issues with experience & sensitivity. Thanks for all you do!!
  • Leeleeche
    Very practical and entertaining
I’d been searching for a good podcast on decluttering for several weeks. After listening to dozens of options, I found The Art of Decluttering to be the best! We are moving from a 4 bedroom to a 3 bedroom with less storage space so we have to scale down. I’d find the episode pertaining to the area I was tackling and listen as I decluttered each space. So far I’ve done the kitchen, bathrooms, kids rooms (including artwork and toys) and all of our closets. My final room is the garage which is our holding/junk room. It has been really helpful to have two girlfriends there while I get rid of stuff I don’t need or use. Their accents are music to this American girl’s ears. The most helpful has been the episode on moving (or moving house as you say). I’ve gone through each area already so packing will be a breeze. I still have many more episodes to dive into as I continue through this process. I actually look forward to it each day rather than dreading the chore.

I am a budding professional organizer doing everything I can to make my small startup happen. I mostly clean homes to sustain my growing my business. Listening to the Art of Decluttering while working, feels like I’m part of a chat with friends. I always take away lessons around practicality and compassion from their conversations. What these women are doing is real, relatable and fun. Thank you for sharing 💛
