This generation’s Carl Sagan. Fight me.

Thanks Prof Poggee! Love your lectures. Finished grad school over a decade ago, but still love finding things like this to ignite my imagination. Now I wish I had been an astronomy major! Can’t thank you enough for putting all your lectures up. LIsten to them on the A Train in Manhattan on my way to work.

You can tell this professor really loves this topics. Highly detailed, and well explained.

I love these lectures for non science majors. This is a wonderful example of the benefits of this technology and how it can let everyone access something formerly reserved to very small audiences. The instructor is great and has such a dry sense of humor.

These two series of podcasts on astronomy are content rich clearly delivered and worthy of the listening again and again. They are the best that I have ever heard on this topic. We are in a golden age of astronomy and cosmology.

This is a stunningly interesting rare treat. Prof Pogge brings infectious enthusiasm to the greatest show on Earth. The universe. It is both revelation after revelation and mystery after mystery. In my experience it is unusual that somebody is both at the cutting edge of science and has flair for clarity at the undergraduate level. A true gem

Better than Game of thrones or any other form of entertainment. This is the class I wish I had had at college. Being is absolutely amazing and understanding a little more how we came about to be is just an incredible trip. Grateful to Ohio university and specially to Professor Richard Pogge. Cosmos: A space time odyssey and a class such as this one should be mandatory at schools.

Engaging and informative. This podcast is simply excellent. Be sure to start at the beginning, because each lecture builds on previous concepts. The professor leads us on this journey like a veteran mountain guide, pointing out the things that still fascinate him. My life has definitely been enriched by what I have learned.

A great set of lectures for anyone interested.

I do not have an Astronomy background. I am older (59+). I listen to these while I am driving, so my attention is divided to say the least. I am an experiential learner, so listening to a lecture is not the best way for me to learn. Despite all of the above, I have learned (and retain) much more information than I thought possible. I now understand concepts and practices that have eluded me for decades - all because Prof. Pogge is just so darn GOOD at conveying these ideas. I can only imagine how much more I could get out of the actual lecture, but I am very happy with my new and improved understanding of this subject. He has woken a deep and abiding interest in me. Thank you Prof. Pogge, and to his University. The one Wish I have is for him to add one more lecture to these giving a nutshell of what the science has discovered since these were recorded. Many of the recordings say something like "We will know more in 2012 or 2013…" and it's now 2014 - so I want to know what we found out. I would chip in on an effort to pay for the production costs. Fascinating, informative and simply fun to listen to. You can learn an entire quarter of college astronomy while driving, jogging or sitting at your desk. Be sure to listen to Astronomy 161 first. It's just as good.

The professor is an excellent teacher and manages to both inform and entertain

I first downloaded this course to my ipod 6 years ago and I still love to listen to it. The lecture series on the frontiers of astronomy is really interesting.

I would enjoy listening to Richard speak about any astronomy related subject. He speaks with such elegance and high intelligence that even the most complicated topics and concepts are understandable. Thank you!!!

This was great podcast for continuing to learn about Astronomy after Prof. Pogge's Astronomy 161 podcast. The subject matter is a little more complex to follow along with compared to the 161 podcast, but well worth it. Prof. Pogge jumps from Solar System Astronomy in 161 to the larger scales of galaxies, stars, and the universe in this 162 podcast. Prof. Pogge is a great lecturer and makes the subject matter enjoyable to listen to. I highly recommend this podcast for anyone wanting to learn about Astronomy.

Richard Pogge is an amazing teacher! He brings astronomy to life. His podcasts are easy to listen to. I like it that Prof. Pogge does not slam any previous culture or astrology system when discussing them in reference to his subject. Slamming previous cultures and astrology seems to be a common practice in academics.

dark matter, dark energy, origins of the universe, fate of the universe, cosmic background radiation, big bang, time space expansion, all of it explained in sequential, articulate lectures. simply will blow your mind to soak up this much education by just listening to prof pogge. i listened in awe and amazement, i hope prof P publishes more of these types of podcasts, it has changed my life to have discovered cosmology....

I think that it is great that podcasts like this exist. A good, informative, educational podcast like this balances and fills a void that in the multitude of brainless podcasts out there. I've enjoyed this podcast, and it is great to have detailed information on Astronomy. I've also learned more than a watered down show like Nova can provide. Bravo, and keep up the good work.

For me, Professor Pogge has reignited the enthusiasm and wonderment of this Universe initially instilled in me by Dr. Carl Sagan. I wonder that PBS hasn't come knocking at his door.

This class was awsome. The theoretical astronomy at the end of the course was super interesting. (Listen to the whole course or you won't understand the end.) This course will light a spark in you.

This is a podcast you will not be able to stop listening. Riveting at every turn. I look forward to any new podcast Mr Pogge may have in the future.

You can tell that R. Pogge really knows his stuff as he explains it in such an understandable manner. I find myself extending my morning walks to finish each lecture. As the story unfolds you are constantly reenforcing what you heard in the previous lecture, as it is a stepping stone to the current lecture, which becomes a step toward the next lecture. The course notes and visual aids being available online is a huge bonus. Its not often you get to take a college course for free. I hope he puts up the first few missing lectures of this course and maybe even the 161 course or more advanced courses.

This is a pretty good podcast, and extremely informative. It helps to have a background in astronomy (from either a class or a hobby) because there are a fair amount of scientific terms and concepts in the lectures. The lecturer is very into the topic, though, and the sequential arrangement of the lectures makes it easy to follow. My only complaint is that some of the diagrams and pictures he talks about should be included in the album artwork for the podcast (hint!).

I started listening to this podcast and found it fascinating to listen to. It does have some technical content but it is done in a very understandable way. It would only be better in person!
