Banging Book Club

Hello! We are Banging Book Club, three friends who decided to read a book about sex every month of 2016. We thought we'd document it in a monthly podcast, which you can listen to here! We hope you enjoy it - feel free to subscribe to our podcasts on iTunes or listen on Soundcloud. If you're looking for spoiler free summaries of each book, we have created a five minute video for each read which you can find the link to in the description of each podcast. Basically, we're the baddest bitches in the sex book genre and we want to take you along for the ride.

    Not for me
White women complaining quite offensively about language barriers and pedicures. Not for me.

    A Great Time
A genuinely funny and articulate podcast. The books chosen are normally not ones that seem over-hyped and they all offer unique perspectives.

    Enjoyable—with reservations
Leena, Hannah, and Lucy are lots of fun to listen to, and I think they are great people! I do occasionally find the podcast hard to tolerate because although they acknowledge that they are three straight, white women, they don’t really go to any lengths to incorporate these limitations into their assessments of the books. Most notably, I found the recent episode about The Price of Salt alienating as lesbian listener. The book is about the specifics of lesbian infatuation in the twentieth century, and it was difficult to hear an entire review about how they hated the characters and it was boring because Carol and Therèse didn’t do any sight-seeing in the city. There have been similar issues in other reviews, in which the basis for their negative opinion seems to be an inability to relate to someone who was patently not written for them to relate to. I know this seems very negative, but I do think these issues could be easily remedied by just inviting guests onto the podcast more often!! Like I said, The narrowness has made me bristle in other episodes, but I found aspects of the recent episode actually painful—take the idea that Therèse didn’t enjoy sex with her boyfriend just because she wasn’t well educated about sex. God!! The more I listened to the more hesitant I became about remaining subscribed, which is a shame, because I generally enjoy these content creators. If they read this, I really encourage them to re-listen to the episode with a consciousness about the role homophobia might play in their views. I majored in English and among my English major friends, opinions about the Price of Salt Is very much divided based on sexual orientation. I find it difficult to believe any lesbian would find it boring. And on an unrelated note, I also find it difficult to believe any English major would find Andrea Gibson tolerable!! I’d be interested to hear Leena’s opinion on Gibson—I tend to agree with her taste based on her YouTube reviews (which I really do adore). Please continue to produce content but please also bring some different voices and perspectives into your productions!!

    such a good listen
"talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show-stopping, spectacular, never-the-same, totally unique, completely-not-ever-been-done-before" is the only meme I can use to describe this podcast

    Book plug or...?
There are about one trillion book podcasts on the internet. Few are as funny, unique or connected with their fans as this one. And would you believe NONE of the rest even THINK about being sexy? Madness. Listen to this podcast, be thrilled, ???, profit. (And preorder Hannah Witton's book coming out on April 6th (oh darn I sound like her manager, I'm not she just talks about it like all the time))

Love these ladies! They’re hilarious and well informed so I always find myself both learning a lot and having a laugh when I listen. Like hanging out with a group of good friends. Highly recommend.

    Amazing discovery
I have been searching everywhere for a place that can help me find these kind of books. This is a lovely podcast and I can't wait for more!

    Great for many reasons:)
These ladies make a wonderfully pleasant atmosphere as well as a safe space for girls/women to learn and form their own opinions. The Banging Book Club shares very interesting views, opinions and subjects that sprout from different books that share a common ground. Great to listen to!

The best feminist podcast in English (along with the Guilty Feminist)! Lucy, Lana and Hannah are fantastic and brilliant and lovely girls! I like to listen to their podcast while I do other things and am always laughing. Hopefully soon I will be able to read a book along with them. <3 Love you girls! -María Medusa

I've been watching Hannah, Lena & Lucy for so long now so this book club was an exciting project for me. I've been reading (most of 🙈) the books and hearing a discussion makes me consciously challenge my personal views and break out of my comfort zone which is a very refreshing and informative experience. Always appreciate female content creators being an advocate myself 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

    Wonderful!!
These women are not only entertaining, but educating. They each bring a unique prespective to the discussion that adds depth and heart. They are all clearly passionate about the topics they speak on, and that makes this podcast easy to enjoy and learn from. I have had my mind opened while laughing and asking myself hard questions while listening to this podcast. I would highly reccomend it to anyone interested in opening their mind to ask themselves more questions about sexology and the world around them. Thank you Lucy, Hannah, and Leena for sharing these wonderful discussions with us. x

love the podcast and the ladies who run it!
I've been looking for a good feminist podcast to listen to (other than Guys We F**cked), and I started listening after watching all of Lucy's videos. A podcast that combines feminism and literature?? Hell yes. Insightful, smart, and hilarious points and conversations coming from ya'll! Love it, can't wait to keep listening and reading along! ❤️

i love listening to all 3 of these ladies talk about books. i've been a youtube subscriber of all of them for a few years, and i've found this book club to be really interesting. i don't read all the books with them, but i still listen to each podcast anyway, because it's always informative and interesting. i hope they keep it up longer than this one year!

    Separately incredible, together euphoria
Hannah, Lucy, and Leena are individually witty and insightful. Together, they create a podcast that not only critically challenges me, but is enjoyable to listen to. Well done, ladies! Five stars.
