    Best Bass Pod
Just drove from Seattle to St Louis. Scott and Ian kept me company the whole way. This Podcast has great info and interviews! SBL is created an amazing community for all things Bass! This Podcast is just the tip of the iceberg of that community. Love what you guys are doing and love being a part of the community!

I love all of your Podcasts, I learn so much from them! Although, I always watch them on YouTube. Is there a way to post the video on Apple Podcasts?

The Journey of Becoming a Better Human, as Told by Two Bass Players
This podcast is a brutally honest introspection about overcoming our fears and biases, and an entertaining peek into the journey of two blokes as they learn about what’s important in life, and learn how to become friends. Oh there’s some bass talk in it too.

    Not too shabby
A lot of information but would be better if tthey spent more time prepping a bit of research on the topic before they record and less time tickling each others balls. And to mention Stanley Clarke as a mere passing note and worship Jimmy Johnson (who is phenomenal), who I guarantee attributes SC as a big influence, is absurdity. Still an entertaining show and will continue to listen until I get tired of them fumbling for info they should have before they start.

    Scott & Ian…Bass Heroes 🦸🏻‍♂️ 🦸🏻‍♂️
These guys share a ton of great bass advice across all of their platforms and the podcast is always a fun listen. If you play bass you owe it to yourself to dig into the deep well of bass knowledge these guys are sharing in an understandable and approachable way. Thanks Scott & Ian!

The Greatest Bass Bromance On The Web!
Talk about a dynamic duo! Scott and Ian talk about all things bass and so much more. Each episode has something for any musician regardless of instrument. In addition, they cover such diverse topics as the business side of music in the digital age, common misconceptions of the industry, dealing with haters and so much more. It’s all interwoven with personal narratives, great jokes and even stories of their families (Gotta love Ol’ Bob Allison, “Don’t they all just sorta go boom, boom, boom) LMAOROTF! Seriously though, just tune in and you might just learn something, take something away or just learn the correct pronunciation of banana 🤣

    Awesome!!!
Scott and Ian are outstanding bass guitar instructors nowadays. Their podcast is extremely interesting, not only for bassists but also for anyone involved in music and teaching. Fantastic work, guys!

    Bass/Dudes/Dads
Best buds that kill on bass and talk about real stuff. They love Fender, a little too much, I think, but so much value in each episode.

    Insightful and Fun
Such a good vibe that works really well on this show. I love the insights that are so specific and give you ideas of what to work on with your bass playing. The interviews are really great as well. Definitely should give it a listen if you play bass and if you don’t, it is still great content.
  • Bobbybacala
    Great bass podcast
Just great talks between Scott and Ian about all things but Bass brings them together. I wish I could be there hanging.

    Not just a bass podcast
It’s more than a bass podcast, it’s a music podcast. It’s a musician’s podcast. It’s an entertaining conversation between two guys who like to nerd out over not just basses but groove, other musicians, and music in general. You even hear genuine conversations about life. Scott and Ian arr a fun duo to hang out with, check it out!

    Bass-ically the best
The SBL podcast is a great show. Informative and fun to listen to, this is a great resource for anybody who is playing bass or even just interested in playing bass. Big thanks and please keep it up.

    Best Bass Show Ever
This show rules. I’m stoked the sbl team has started the podcast and Ian is now a regular. The solo shows are awesome too. Sbl taught me so much over they years and kept me exited about playing, practice and learning all I can about this wonderful instrument. I’ve gone from a total beginner, just keeping rhythm on an open E, to incorporating jazz progressions and chord tones in my parts in a live hardcore deathmetal band. The show has opened me up to new music, new techniques, new gear, epic gigging advice, recording know how, permission to screw with FX and be a sound weirdo, to be a bass nerd etc and simply made it available to dive in. Just hit play. Thanks sbl

    Often Unnecessarily Long
These shows, particularly the solo ones, venture into filibustering. I like the show. It just needs to be shorter.

    10/10
Absolutely love the conversation. Great musicians bringing all their musical knowledge to the table is HUGE for me staying motivated as a musician. So much CC knowledge here, and even more importantly there is so much experiential wisdom about life and how to live it. Thank you for doing this Scott and Ian! You guys are great.
  • BruceBass
    Low end life inspiration
Entertaining, zany, life lessons, bass lessons - you guys inspire me to play more bass and find the meaning in it! Don’t stop!

    Breaking the rules
Love the Podcast Ian. I used to play with a pick and then I lost my index finger on my right hand and now pluck middle and ring fingers, one day will use a pick again maybe. Lol
  • history addict1776
    Love this show
Just the nature of what I listen to can get pretty heavy, political, and sometimes dark. It is so nice to listen to Ian and Scott (2 insanely talented musicians) discuss all things bass in a way that is entertaining, informative, and most importantly for me apolitical and completely neutral and inclusive of everyone that enjoys the bass guitar.
  • JayBassBike
I want to hang with these guys!
Great podcast! As a working weekend warrior musician, I relate to so many of the topics being discussed.
  • Sharon-ini
The Scott’s Bass Lessons podcast is a blast!
If you are a human who enjoys other humans, you’ll have fun just hanging out with Scott and Ian and picking up on life lessons they’ve learned (often, the hard way!) If you are any kind of musician, you’ll learn a lot about how to go deeper and get better at your instrument. And if you are a bass player, or just love bass guitar…this is the place to be every week! These guys have such a good time chattering about life, and about bass. A lot of good bass geekiness, and a great hang!

    Advice for bass and life!
You don’t need to be a bass player to get a ton of great life advice and inspiration from this podcast. Love these guys!!
  • muclebass
I love listening to these two interact with each other.
I have been wanting something like this for a while now. I’m learning a lot about music and life with this podcast. Thanks Scott and Ian!

    The best for bass
These guys are a lot of fun to listen to, and their passion and joy for music comes across. SBL is an amazing service for the bass playing community!
  • TheDadfly
    Not just for bass players
Disclosure: I’m a paid member of Scott’s Bass Lessons. If you are just tired of listening to podcasts about murder and crime and vulgarity and partisan politics, stop listening to those podcasts. Listen to this one instead, even if you are not a bass player. Scott and Ian have a contagious enthusiasm for life, and it spills over into all kinds of stuff (including their main passion: electric bass). This podcast is a bright light in a world that sometimes feels like it’s getting darker.
  • GarryOwenBrain
Guys talking bass and life, what’s not to love?
I love this. It’s like hangin with my fiends talking about bass and life in general. I always look forward to the new episodes.

Scott and Ian now have too many friends
Scott and Ian are so genuine that they seem like a personal friend of mine. You have to love their passion (and addiction) in geeking out over all things bass. I am guessing Scott and Ian have been approached by complete strangers treating them as friends and the random person just starts talking away. Great podcast.
  • Gnrlpattonater
Thanks for shifting more focus on the pod
World has been depressing lately… you guys are making it better. Thank you 🙏. Love sbl, love the players path, love listening to Scott talk to his American doppelgänger. Keep them coming. See you in the shed!!

I wish I could quit you.
What am I doing?? Another 2 HOURS gone listening to these guys. I’ve got work to do! Can’t help it, I’m a bass dork. Could listen all day.

    Kindred bass spirits
As a balding 40 something year old dude who loves playing and learning about bass, I have found my show! Seriously though I appreciate the perspective, life stories, and helpful tidbits geared towards encouraging bass players of all levels to enjoy our musical journeys. I love the 2 person format as well. Nice work!

    Finally!!!
Yes! Finally Scott is doing a podcast where he talks and it’s not just interviews. I literally wouldn’t want any other 2 SBL guys to do a pod together except for maybe Phil Mann and Scott. I love Ian Allison, though. He’s honest, insightful , kind and seems like the most chill dude to hang with. I want to be these guys best friends so bad! These guys are a perfect match for the SBL podcast. I also love the longer format. Can’t wait for future episodes!!

    2017 Podcast
Why have all the podcast from 2017 been removed?
  • qwcyjjdki
    I like it but.....
Scott’s a great guy and has very interesting guests on the show but I think he needs to refine his interview style a bit. Far to many “yeah, yeah, yeahs” and interrupting or talking over his guests, as they try to finish a sentence or story, making the interviews painful to listen to at times. I highly recommend Scott listen to Sam Harris and Joe Rogan - They both are fantastic interviewers.
  • Rogers-michael
    Fantastic information!
I’m Geeking out on your podcasts (I just got hip to them). So much insight and inspiration. You’r able to pull such great knowledge from so many of my Idols. Scott your contribution to the Bass community is both large and appreciated? I’ll be signing up….

    Awesome Awesome Awesome
Love the podcasts, I really enjoyed the interview with Michael League from Snarky Puppy Gemini is my jam. I like what he said about time, groove, and feel, accenting on right hand exercises. I’m going to practice playing My Girl until I can play it with my eyes shut.

    Loved it!
Really enjoyed this Scott. Awesome as always. I have learned so much from SBL and glad to be a lifetime member. Closing credits with the song titles and the club address Kevin mentioned he plays at regular would have helped me!

    SBL Podcast w/ Kevin Scott
Just finished the Kevin Scott podcast. Scott Devine + the SBL team are really onto something with the new podcast format! Kevin just killed it with his music performances, and the interview was great. Well done and keep it coming!!

    Well Structured Conversations
SBL Podcast does a nice job of featuring the guests and letting their expertise carry the episodes. The questions are well thought out and the sound quality is great. I appreciate that they are all 30 minutes or so too, which makes them listenable for a short drive or commute.
