Light House

849

Tara Hollis was supposed to get a fresh new start at her ancestral home, Light House. But when Tara and her family moved into Light House on that warm, winter's day in 1963, they did not suspect the horror that awaited them; a horror that lurked in the shadows, biding its time to quench its hunger. There is a darkness that dwells in the heart of Light House…one that will tear Tara’s family apart. Do you believe in ghosts? Tara didn’t…until she moved into Light House.

    Love
I love this podcast. I listen to it when I clean, drive, and even sleep. This is my comfort podcast. I cried the very first time I listened to this. I will always love this show. It has a little bit of everything that I love.

    Harrowing
Mesmerizing voice over actress. Gripping engaging storyline that carries over several decades

If you like the haunting of hill house…
Great production, voice acting, sound and writing! Quality show. I’m starting it over again.

    Trigger warning
Domestic violence against women and children. I am done with this, tedious and not entertaining. I gave it a go but there is not much of a story just meandering through events which includes years of abuse against the mother, whipping of female children, seriously disturbing.

    Brilliant
    Definitely my favorite

    Retro horror story vibes
This podcast gave off Dark Shadows vibes and I was all in for it. Descriptive storytelling drew me in and kept my attention. Felt more like a classic ghost story, glad I didn’t overlook this one.

    Compelling, beginning to end
I startle easily but have a hard time finding books or movies that really affect me or stay with me. I could not get enough of this one. Did not want it to end. Would love if they would do an origin story for the lighthouse.

    Twenty Stars!
The story, the actors, the ending. Really well done.

    Love!!!!
Wow!! What an amazing story! I loved it from beginning to end. I must disagree with those that say there was too many commercials, there’s no more than other podcast. I would love to watch this as a movie! The narrator is amazing!

Fantastic…make sure you listen all the way to the end of the last episode
I was about to write a review about how the ending felt rushed, but hanging on until the story at the very end concludes was decidedly satisfying. Just the right mix of things that terrify me, the story moved, wasn’t too predictable, and felt redeeming enough to keep listening. TW for suicide, discussion of mental health/hallucinations, and a lot of death.

    Ads, ads, ads
An unbearable amount of the same ads. Each episode is basically half ads for condoms.

    Engaging
Kept me coming back for more

    Great work!
I honestly believe this story would make a successful film trilogy. This podcast is great work all around.

    Excellent
I’ve been listening to podcasts for years but rarely write reviews. This is just excellent. The voice acting was stellar and the storyline was just the right amounts of creepy and atmospheric. Highly recommend.

    Spooky
This is an excellent podcast. The voice acting is incredible and the setting and atmosphere is so well done. The episodes answer a lot of questions if you keep listening however, sometimes evil is just evil and doesn’t need a back story. The thing I loved about this podcast is that the characters fight back against the darkness.

    Amazing!
Loved it! Didn’t want it to end. I never knew podcasts could be so intriguing and addicting

    Great show
Aly Trasher did an outstanding job!! I really enjoyed this podcast. Wish it dived in a bit deeper but mostly because I didn’t want it to end!

    Boring
I still haven’t found a story I liked. Just drones on and on.
  • barnesandnoble19997
    Interesting
Good book, I finished in 1.5 days. Keeps you really intrigued. My only complaint is that i wish there was more of an origin story of the “darkness”.

    Scary!!!
I’m on Episode 6. This 5 star review brought to you by the distorted sounds on the audio recordings, which are currently Scaring. The. Heck. out of me, alone in my dimly lit apartment.

A Wonderful Edge Of Your Seat Ride!
If you haven't heard this Podcast from beginning to end, GO BACK AND LISTEN TO IT IN ORDER FROM OLDEST TO NEWEST NOW! I promise, you will not be disappointed. It challenges your mind and tugs at your heart. It keeps you wondering, does good ever triumph over evil? Great vocals, gripping story line, dark background music. It will keep you guessing and Jonesing for more as you wait with baited breath for the next Episode. I hate waiting for the next episode. I may have to do something about that... DeadlyBlonde🌸👻👱‍♀️🔪💜

    Excellent horror fiction podcast
This should be on more top ten lists. Great voice work, genuine and consistent scares, perfect length, very good world building.

    Excellent story
This kept me intrigued. I loved the story line and the use of old tapes. Added to the spookiness. Fun listen.

    Loved it
I gave it a 5 star the intensity of it and the length of each episode made it very great and perfect to listen to at work
  • werecakes
    Not that great but okay
This really goes more like an audio book. It’s okay but the “fear” that the characters felt was mediocre and felt like and over reaction. I also have some trouble with the characters such as the main character is supposed to be 12 while born in the 40’s when this takes place in the 60’s. Math is a bit off there, but so is the younger sister of the main character. She’s supposed to be 3 and acts and moves like a 10 year old. I’m sorry but 3 year olds are toddlers and can’t do half of the things these characters go through. It’s not a bad story just has some kinks to work out.

Hope iHeart makes more like this!
Fun spooky podcast. One complaint is that I’ve never had ads take me out of a story so much. I wish they wouldn’t break in the middle.
  • Amyzon72
    Great story!
I absolutely loved this story! It was well written, had a great plot line, and kept my full attention every time I listened. Please make more stories like Light House!

    Atmospheric
I chose four stars for this fun story. It definitely spooked me silly, especially listening to it alone in my apartment each night before bed. All in all, it was a good time, however, I docked a few points for what I found to be a corny writing style and a hurried, hollow conclusion that left too much unsaid.
  • Meagannaise
    Yikes
I can’t believe this was made in 2020 and they thought they could get away with using a fully grown adult woman talking in baby talk to “sound” like a child. Has that worked ever? I can’t think of anything that shows less effort re: casting. Couldn’t get past the first 30 seconds. Just a hot tip, no adult ~ever~ sounds good playing a kid, unless they are an incredibly gifted voice actor with the ability to mimic a child’s tone, but also speech pattern and cadence. It’s just so creepy, and not the fun, spooky kind of creepy.

    Compelling story
I binged it in one day on a road trip. It was worth it. It was well worth the listen.

    What an incredible story
This podcast went over the true trials and tribulations of facing darkness and bringing light upon your demons. Hearing Tessa tell her story was something straight out of a Stephen King book only something so dark as this story could really bring me to feel for her and the other souls confined to Light House. My final words for this podcast are wow just wow.

    AMAZINGLY SCARY!
This is my first ever listen to podcast. I’ve had some I tried but always turned off 5 mins after. This story made me feel like I was there. I’d go days with listening and cleaning....Bravo! Amazing job to the cast and director I would love more stories like this one. Thanks so much.
  • Geopetchia
    Eh
I liked this podcast more of an audio book than an audio drama. I actually liked the slowed down tapes. It made it creepy. The voice of the little girl was really bad.. I also really didn’t like this podcasts ending. Like I felt like I’m left out of so much information that needs to be said.. I really wanted this story to have a good ending since the whole podcast was a little boring at the same time of being slightly creepy.. idk I feel let down.
  • Magda1203
    It was definitely NOT boring
As I listen to more of this story, I learn to find “the truth behind the lie” that Stephen King once called fiction. “Fiction is the truth behind the lies.”: That’s what horror is to me: And sometimes they give you answers for how to deal with what happened. I was put in foster care because of domestic violence and never allowed to return to my biological parents. That’s how I became interested in horror. I wanted to know how to “turn your back on the monster and take away its power.” That’s what they said In Nightmare On Elm St. Pt 4 and it really works because I have the visual memory of watching the girl turn her back on Freddy and watching Freddy lose his power over her.

    Spooky story for Halloween
I had concerns after reading the harsh reviews for this podcast but i thought it was pretty good. Story kept me interested, actress was believable. Give it a listen, it’s quite entertaining

Something to listen to while cleaning or working
Lighthouse isn’t scary at all. Just mild entertainment while you go about your day. Gave it 3 stars because it was very open ended and doesn’t answer any questions. Why was the property haunted to begin with? Why is the maid, little boy & hanging man ghost? Who is the shadowy thing? Was the man in the hat evil or just trapped in the house. Also how can setting the house on fire kill all the ghost? They’re freaking ghosts!!! Fire isn’t going to affect spirit creatures. Episode 9 was soooo cringe and I didn’t think I was going to finish it. Lini or however your spell the sisters now just kept talking & talking & talking about nothing. Also I don’t understand why Tara couldn’t set the house on fire without killing herself. Idk felt this story tired to be something it’s not. It’s something to listen to while you’re bored but that’s about it....

    Don’t waste your time
Super boring. It honestly feels like you are just listening to hours of someone complaining.
  • Archer9914
    Actually decent
While people May say this is a rip off of hill house remember even the show was different from the book yet it stood good on its own so just because it shares similar aspects doesn’t mean it’s bad. Enjoy it as it’s own story with many similar traits to another story that we all love.

    It’s actually pretty engaging
I’m here to bump up the positive reviews on this pod. Unfortunately, the first 2 episodes are the worst of the season, so its initial poor reception is not super surprising. The story, however derivative it may be, kept me guessing and I binged the whole thing in 2 sittings. I guess it’s too late to get more advertisers on board, but I was bummed that it didn’t initially get the ratings they were hoping for.
  • TayloraFae
    Spooky SZN
I read a lot of bad reviews on this, but I actually really loved it. If you’re looking for a fictional spooky podcast that tells a story, this is it. I appreciate that it resolves the story in 10 episodes, and I enjoyed the twists and turns.

I was Prepared To Hate It
This podcast had so many bad reviews! I just figured I’d start it, and shut it off if it was that bad. I listened to the end. It was okay! Something to pass the time while I clean, same as other stories. One thing that normally irritates me about these stories, is your left hanging. Not this one, you get a resolution. People complained about the ads. Many times there was a break in the story where and ad was supposed to be, but it would just go back into the story instead. Other complaints were that it’s a ripoff on Haunting of Hillhouse. That it is, right down to the name Abigail. But that’s okay! Lastly, complaints were about the kid voice, and warped tape episode. Yes, both were needlessly overdone, but it was only one major episode. I’ve heard better, I’ve heard worse. I really did like this story!! I don’t understand the dislike by so many people.

    One of the best!!!!!!!
So this is not a normal Podcast it’s soooo much more this is an event. The story had me on the edge of my seat the whole time

    Audio Book
This is just someone reading a book. “Look at me! I have a podcast!” *opens book
  • Leah7189
Great podcast, but the amount of ads is insane.
The podcast itself is pretty good, but listening to the same ads repeated continuously throughout the episode is almost unbearable.
  • spazmaticpyro
Annoying plot, characters, and lots of abuse
I love audio dramas and like horror stories. I could not continue to listen to it after the 4th episode. The lead character is a solid miss when you try to like her, and there is no valid character development of anyone else in the story. There’s a long, drawn out scene of gratuitous abuse that only irritated me to no end. I don’t mind violence in fiction, as I love action movies, but this was mostly placed there for cringe. Congratulations for that. I was definitely cringing and yelling at my speakers because of my irritation at the situation. And then we’re supposed to be terrified of the ghosts? I don’t know what their motivation is, there’s no real background up to this point, and they don’t really do anything except for be present, and said presence is supposed to be terrifying. What drivel. If you want to be angry and irritated at a podcast, try this one. If you want to be frightened or entertained, go elsewhere.
  • DariusM0F0
Was gonna give it 5 stars but
I absolutely hate that kind of ending. There is no catharsis. It was such a good story up until the last 3 minutes. The ending was cheap and low effort. All that trauma and nothing is resolved. I’ll change it to 4 stars if this gets a serious ending in a sequel.
  • 5825189426
    Eh
Episode one is cringe. A grown woman trying to talk like a child...it’s very obvious. Like Penelope I’m Wreck it Ralph
  • NHDanielle
    Must listen!!
Absolutely addicting!! Binged the whole series
  • jellison466
    Pretty good!
Interesting story- it’s a lot of monologue instead of character interactions but worth a listen!
