The Sneak

1,202

Season 3: The Disappearance of Mario Rossi - Set against the backdrop of NASCAR’s drug smuggling scandal in the early 1980’s, this season of The Sneak tells the story of the disappearance of one of the sport’s most brilliant engineers, a mystery that haunts racing to this day. The hosts will set out to finally answer the question: What really happened to Mario Rossi?

Season 2: Murders at Whiskey Creek - We follow world champion surfer Jack Roland Murphy as he pulls off the biggest jewel heist in American history. Things turn deadly as he is implicated in two murders afterwards. Interviews with him and his accomplices expose even more murders, and an even darker story.

Season 1: DB Tuber - News of the crime spread across the internet like wildfire. The story of a football hero turned bank robber shocked the sleepy town where the heist occurred, and became a worldwide sensation. People were aghast as the disgraced athlete told his incredible story. There was only one problem. It wasn’t the whole story. Not by a long shot.

From USA Today comes The Sneak. A show that digs into spectacular true crime stories from the world of sports. New episodes every Tuesday.

    Audio
I had to stop listening because of the echo chamber type technique used for telephone conversations. It was annoying and off-putting to me. Interesting story line, though.

    The Sneak
Another horrible podcast that reveals nothing has no conclusions and leaves one wondering why they wasted so much time listening to an absurd investigation that leads no where and provides no resolution. Total waste of time. This reporter is horrible at his job.

    Good weighed down by bad
The podcast has waaaay too many commercials and no reason to be so short with each episode! Could be at least an hour long per episode to be less annoying! Its to the point where you ask is it even worth keeping up with! Also totally agree with Murp, too many questions about nothing worthwhile across so many episodes when more could have been done with that time! Amateurish podcast

    Stop spamming my feed
I like the show, but the constant preview episodes are getting annoying, might unsubscribe

The Sneak awesome podcast w off the wall stories
Love this podcast on Spotify - Nate just does not stop asking questions to anybody no matter how awkward it may be. His team is first rate at research and calling it like it is. I love sports / crime movies and general how stuff happened …. This is my go to podcast as each of these episodes are so mesmerizing like a good fellas movie or even catch me if you can ! Keep it up Nate as you look to find and unearth these situations Taft Stephenson

Aaaand this once great pod returns to plug another pod for money
Seriously?!? These repulsively self-centered leftist grifters haven’t uttered a peep for a very long time. Not one peep. So when I got their alert for a new upcoming pod, I immediately clicked on it.. Only to discover that the only reason us fans/supporters were hearing from these grifters is bc they were paid to plug another podcast. Their “I’m sorry I’m sorry I’m sorry” script written to pretend they care (when anyone with an ounce of objectivity knows they don’t) made me want to vomit. If that wasn’t insulting enough already, these dishonest charlatans whip out the “people of color” trope to act like they actually give a crap about anything other than money. What a shamefully disappointing product this team has become.

    Good show?
I wish you could let Jack tell his story instead of interrupting every 30 seconds, explaining why he saying what he saying, basically apologizing for him ranting. It would be awesome if you could just release the entire interview so I could actually hear the story how he wants to tell it. And I just love the end of season one. Where are you completely dismiss his story of redemption to conclude your narrative, that he is a terrible liar of a human. If those two people had to die. so that Mr. Murphy could connect with thousands and thousands of inmates to receive the message of Jesus Christ then so be it.

    Season 1 and 3 🤯🤯

    Great series!
I’ve enjoyed all three seasons. The second season was not the first time I’d heard Jack Murphy’s story but it was the best told version and most thorough to date. I specifically loved the last episode of the regular series.

Bring back the original opening music!!
I love this podcast - hosts are great and stories are really good, I just miss the opening music from the first two seasons, way better than the new violin/western music from the third. Original music sounded way cooler when the Host would be like “this is the sneak” and then that cool beat would start.

    LOVE. LOVE. LOVE. LOVE. LOVE.
Better now Han 5 stars. 5 loves. Your podcast was well written and told. I love how you talk to people with respect, letting them tell their story and he opportunity to answer your questions. Thank you for being an absolute, fabulous binge. Season 1-3.

    Great interviews
The first two seasons are gold and deserved five stars, the third season was fine but maybe not as good. The host and interviewer are top notch.,

    Amateur Podcasting
If you’re looking for a solid B- podcast for filler until you find your next great podcast, this could be the one for you! I just finished Season 3 and I wish I didn’t. There is no story here. Come on Nate, this is not enough to turn into a podcast. The podcast plot/investigation basically turned out to be a merry-go-round of hearsay about a missing old NASCAR guy, Mario Rossi, who is most likely dead now and was most likely killed at the time because he dealt/smuggled drugs. Where is the story here? Nate, you seem like a decent guy, take some advice, build a more compelling podcast next time. This one was like a 5th grader’s social studies project. I’ll give you a compliment, however, you have a nice podcast voice and are generally likeable.

    Great investigative podcast
The sneak brings attention to the lesser known avenues of criminals and disappearances. I felt as if initially I had to get over the mildly annoying voice of host. But after the initial acclimation, I’ve really enjoyed all 3 seasons
  • Could_not_watch_this_movie
Interesting Story but too much filler
Goes on way too long about podcast producer’s issues
  • Becksta71
    Season 1 is awesome
I loved the crazy ride of the first story. Great characters. Like watching a crime or mystery show. I’ve only listened to season 1 so far.
  • Deepwood21
    Don’t waste your time…
This undoubtedly took countless hours to investigate. To make a podcast discussing all of the deadens and misinformation gathered and NEVER coming up with a proven fact or for that matter anything close to a conclusion is just nuts. And to post 8 sessions doing it is ridiculous.
  • luvvagoodstory
    Compelling & thorough..
Tough subject.. Murph is the type you’d hope never to come across.. bad dude with no conscience.. I feel this glorified him a bit, bit really it was just Jack weaving his own tale.. his ego on full display... interesting podcast if you can keep the bile out of the back of your throat.. Edit: just finished season 3, and I’m unsubscribing.. all tease, fluff, and conjecture... sadly, this has become a waste of time ☹️

    Not Worth Your Time
This podcast is a HUGE waste of time. It never goes anywhere. You never get any satisfaction of feeling like they actually made any in roads into the mysterious disappearance of Mario Rossi. The audio quality is poor. They drag out dead lead after dead lead and try and portray their investigation as taking winding turns. In truth, they only go in circles. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME.

    Good Stories, Too Many Commercials
I know that until there is a massive backlash of some sort, the likelihood of Wondery changing anything about this is slim to none, but I have found that I am going to stop listening to any of the material. As good as the storylines may be, the vast majority of the show - all of their shows - seem to be one giant commercial with a great story interlaced into it. I have tried the free version, it is nice, but I don’t think that as many people are willing to pay as much as everyone seems to be requesting now to listen to each podcast in the form of a story versus a commercial. If you happen to see this review duplicated comments because I’m going to paste it on every one of their podcasts that I have listen to. I would be curious as to how many people actually buy the products that are shoved down our throat‘s. One can’t help but wonder if the juice is going to be worth the squeeze as listeners gradually drop off in this day of thousands upon thousands of available podcasts. I truly pity those who are telling the stories, doing the research, and have put together such a well done storyline as long as they work for this company.

    Nothing to See Here
No new revelations and no real discoveries. Just a standard over dramatized podcast that attempts to bait you with cliff hangers and never delivers. Pass on this one.
  • Ajbuda
Don’t be clueless about your subject
This season it seemed very weak when it comes to actually knowing your subject matter. Clueless. In the Hot Foot episode he repeatedly, & what seemed like purposefully, “misunderstanding” or just flat out misquoting Gary. Great example of how journalists will make stuff up to fit their narrative.

    Season 3 is terrible
I loved season 1 and season 2 was pretty good even if a little to long Season 3 Let’s just say from the beginning that I knew this was a wild goose chase and had really no chance of ever developing into an intriguing story NASCAR has been full of conspiracy theories for years and guess what they always turn out to be exaggerated stories of what could be a remote possibility of truth and ultimately nobody cares I quit listening after they got to Gary belue They should have started there and then realized there was nothing to this stupid story scrap the season and find a better story I will be very skeptical of the next season if there is one Stick to the proven facts like season 1 not these wild goose chases that will never pan out
  • williejake
    Basic
This is basic entertainment. You won’t learn anything new or ground breaking and the hosts really only retell old info, admittedly with new interviews, but in the end you’ll not hear anything ground breaking or any new info that could solve the case. Season after season, it’s the same thing.....person dies many years ago......here are all the old players involved in that case.....here are some old case notes.....here are some old details.....here are those current people and info replayed for your entertainment. In the end, it’s entertainment. If you’re here to listen to some ground breaking NEW info- not gonna happen

    Love the Sneak
So glad I found the Sneak. I started with Season 2. I have gone back and listened to Season 1 and am listening to Season 3. Keep up the good work. Love Nate’s style. Am anxious to find out the topic of Season 4.

Please keep going with the Sneak! Absolutely love the show!

    Pretty commercial heavy
I like this show and have followed it for a while now. Most episodes only have about 15 minutes of show due to a lot of commercial time. Still a good show but I wish episodes were longer and had more in them at times.

This is a 30 min story
    Dragged out into 8 episodes.

    Very disappointing
I didn’t like the first season but I thought I’d give this current one a shot. Not for me. This host is so plastic and full of himself, I feel like he’s all about himself and his desperate struggle to get information. It sounds whiny. Neither he nor his cohost have been able to get me to care about the people or the story.

    Great out of the gate
Just started with Season One, the story is fascinating, with plenty of humor and “what the...” moments. I’m slightly hearing impaired, this one seems quieter than most I listen to. Some extra volume would be beneficial.

    Great stories!!

    Straight forward 👍
I just found this podcast, and appreciate this well delivered account off the missing person, Mario Rossi. Creative, well organized, and easy to follow.

    Good story
I have never been a fan of sound and effects in podcasts. The sound effects are pointless imo but tolerable. Interesting story.

    Great podcast
Hope there’s a season 3 coming soon. Really enjoyed both of the seasons. Felt like the second was stronger than the first, which I also enjoyed.

    Great story
Great story. The music in this podcast could not possibly be any worse. But very interesting story.
  • Altosaxplaya14
    I really enjoyed this podcast
This is a podcast worth listening to. Not only is it a great story, but the host does a good job of taking the listener through the events in an organized format while also peppering in dry humor and the occasional cliff hanger. One of the previous reviews said that the podcaster portrays Anthony as a sympathetic character. While I can sort of understand that point of view, I question whether that listener finished the entire series. Once one listens to all the episodes it becomes clear that Anthony himself disabuses us of that notion. Should the others involved been held accountable? That’s the big question.

    Interesting Perspective
Love the Sneak. Throughly enjoyed each Season. Highly recommend. Very interesting approach and perspective. Keep it up!

    Season 1: A victim
I tried to listen and o this with an open mind but when the interviewer described the robber as a “victim of two of the largest tragedies of the 21st century,” I had to turn it off. The podcast host seemed to bend over backwards to accommodate and give exception to a man who made horrible decisions. He overextended himself by buying way too many properties.
  • Db1819
    Great work
Loved season 2 - fresh work on a subject that has been covered in other mediums. Great production values and overall approach. Recommend if you want something timeless.

    The Sneak
Jack Murphy was a sleazy, disgusting, conman who murdered women. I hope and pray when he died that it really hurt. His lack of remorse for his crimes demonstrated what a sociopath he really was and the con that he continued with until the end.
