    We miss you
Come back, please. I miss how calming Stan and Marshall are while I’m in my stressful job. I get calmed while I get instructed, two birds with one stone.

    Missing y’all. That’s all.

Wow, I’m becoming endeared to these guys
I love high intellect and deep insights. So much amazing content. I’ve been listening at 2x speed for half a day. My only complaint would be with Apple or the podcast app that doesn’t seem to let me play from the oldest podcast forward to the most recent. It’s even replayed a few episodes. They aren’t going in order, and that’s lame, but I’ve abandoned trying to manage them one by one.

Wide-ranging, wry discussions on life and art
Stan and Marshall bring out the most reassuring AND thought provoking points. And, often hilarious! The discussions embrace a wide range of the human creativity experience, which has me noting (and reading) books, authors, writers, and appreciating the conceptional, natural modes of all Creatives- some I had personally experienced, and others I’d never heard of. While I didn’t go to a fine arts school, (just graphic arts in trade school, just at the advent of computer typesetting) I kind of feel these guys are my Tribe! So glad I found them! PERFECT to listen to while prepping and making art! Cheers to them, and James Gurney for leading my attention to them! - Pat in New Hampshire, US

    Love the show
Listen to you guys a lot, love the podcast. That sound Stan made had me laughing hard. Also gave me the epiphany that I forgot in my older how good just silly humor can be.

This is the best in the business!
Actual TREASURE in each episode. And while some podcasters’ banter is boring and canned, Mr Prokopenko and Mr Vanderuff have an actual conversation which always leads somewhere. And WOW!, do these men know their field and teach well.

My favorite podcast. Even if there are too many podcasts. ;)
I love listening to this podcast. I’ve been listening since it first started and Stan mentioned it. There’s always interesting topics, and the camaraderie between Stan and Marshall is great. Stan provides a great view as a younger guy around my age, while Marshall provides an incredible viewpoint from experience and wisdom grown from time. I can’t say enough good things about this show. So glad I found it, and started watching on YouTube!

    Freaking loved the latest episode
I have struggled with overthinking about how to create my artwork in the best way. I think Marshall is hitting it right on the nose and I totally relate with Stans realism struggle. Artwork needs to be so much more free than we let it be. Free doesn’t mean unskilled or unfeeling! Let’s go unlearn “doing it right” and learn what it means to “do what we love!” Thanks guys ❤️

    Great, but a gut punch
Wonderful advice on art school, please take it seriously! I did graduate with my BFA from an elite and expensive school with over $100k in student debt, and while I am finding good freelance work and my first publishing deal five years afterwards, the value of the school was not worth a fraction of what I paid. I never had enough credit room to even take a painting course and have been teaching myself that post-graduation. I really wish I had attended an atelier and self taught. Thanks for putting this info out there, guys! Save the innocent saps from misguided ideas of achievement.

Great for motivation as well as learning
I am often recommending this podcast to other artists and designers. It's a great look at the field and how to make it as much as start it. That it is hosted by two familiar with teaching it makes the message easier to receive too.

Great listening for when you are “arting”

Marshall is great source of art info
The other guy on the podcast just kind of giggles and doesn’t add much to the topics.

    The Draftsmen Podcast Feedback
I’m a 65 year old guy who can’t draw a straight line. Since retiring from medical practice 2 years ago I’ve been trying to learn bookbinding and paper marbling. These have been from books and excellent YouTube videos and for paper marbling from in-person classes at San Francisco Center for the book. In addition, I’ve wanted to make some artist’s books and to do that I need some background and whatever skills I can grow in drawing, watercolor, painting and lithographs. But I have to learn to draw. I have been doing this by in-person classes (two, Covid intervened) then on-line via my art teacher, and then YouTube discovering Proko. I’ve purchased three of the Loomis books recommended by Stan and my art teacher and listening to this most excellent Podcast while binding books. I’m never going to be a professional artist. But I would eventually like to develop some skill that I would be satisfied with enough to share with friends and family. This Podcast is excellent for those wishing to develop into professional artists. But is also superb for those of us who simply wish to develop a satisfying skill. Please keep it up guys, I’m grateful.

Good information and entertaining interplay between hosts
The title says it all. Thanks, Stan and Marshall, for doing what you do.

    Question
This podcast was very interesting and informative and I have ordered the “War of Art” by Steven Pressfield. However, don’t you think the female gender has a bit to say on the book gender? “The Artist Way” by Julia Cameron would be a good highlight of your next podcast. That is thanks to Marshall Vandruff coming up with a female inclusive book. I have ordered the book by Marshall and want to open the up a bit for all genders. The Draftsmen could be called The Draftswomen.

    Waiting For The Next Episode!
I really enjoy listening to these two, they exhibit such great chemistry! Every aspiring artist young and old should listen to Draftsmen, even Batman should. They blend their sought-after industry experience into solid, real world advice, amazing the audience with their wit and wisdom. They really get to the heart of the career of the artist, the problems artists face, and how to solve them..they clear up a lot of BS. They are plugged into the vast network of talented, working artists all over the world. Can't say enough! Thank you, both, for such an enlightening podcast!

If you listen to nothing else, listen to these guys
I’ve listened to many great podcasts, but this is the first review I’ve ever felt compelled to write. Simply put, it’s incredibly inspirational to hear two learned, experiences professional artists riff on craft for a half hour. It’s helped me sharpen my focus on fundamentals and pick up creativity nuggets of wisdom here and there. Plus, Stan and Marshall have good rapport with each other and it makes for entertaining listening. Keep it up, guys!

    Great Job
This is the only podcast I listen to, but the only reason I listen to it is because it is so great. I feel like I really really to Stan and Marshall, I wish I could meet them and talk to them. I have never given anything a review before but I did just for these guys because they deserve it.

    Taking ART to another level
I have watched Proko videos on YouTube off and on for a couple of years and recently discovered this podcast a few days ago and I’ve already listened to about half of them. I love the banter back and forth between Marshall and Stan. Even if you aren’t an artist, you can enjoy this show.

    Links, 3rd voice, modest
Hi, I wanted to thank you all, especially Stan and Marshal. I also enjoy how a 3rd voice comes in and says great points Thanks for giving so much useful information while being modest and with sense of humor. Also thanks Marshal for putting all the links of recommended books in a webpage. Best regards -Hadis (TastyVis)

This is really good...I wish I could give more stars

    Good advice
These two artists provide great insight into the lives and philosophies of working professionals. It is nice to hear their opinions on a range of subjects. Certain episode topics, especially, I think are brave to discuss. Specifically the episode that rhymes with bugs!!!
  • Everyone everybody forever
    It’s a good podcast, but...
Marshall name-drops about 50 white men per episode and it wears me down. Are there no other artists you respect? Do non-white-man artists exist?

The Other Side of Art School
One of the fun things about art classes is sitting down with your art professors before, after, or before and after class to hear stories and get advice on craftsmanship, school, career, and life. This reminds me of that.
  • Plaidklaus
    Fun art conversations!
Such a great dynamic between these two.

    Informative, Entertaining, Honest, Awesome!!!
Fantastic conversations that are full of wisdom and applicable to any creative! The awkward fun and refreshing authenticity of Stan and Marshall’s dialogues puts me at ease and lifts my spirits. It’s a great podcast to wind down to, while also giving great food for thought.

    Love it!
Marshall and Proko have such great chemistry, and so much knowledge. Not to mention Marshall’s sexy voice 😳.
  • EyeSeeEwe
    Thank you
I’ve listened to Draftsmen since episode one and have always enjoyed the conversation between two different but very likable personalities. But this last episode about imposter syndrome was filled with so much applicable information with humor and sincerity, I just had to to leave a 5 star review. Thank you Stan and Marshall!

    Wow
This is the best podcast I’ve ever seen and I like a lot of podcasts.

    Absolutely Brilliant
I never used Apple Podcasts once before this podcast. I never was interested in podcasts, but this is such a funny, simple, and most important, a well informed podcast for not just draftsmen and artists, but anyone interested in creative work. This podcast discusses topics and offers advice from two creative geniuses who both have tremendous experience in differing sections of the creative world, and this podcast offers a beautiful blend of their expertise. Absolutely brilliant.
  • K.Webb
    Good art advice
This is one of my favorite podcasts! They have a lot of art knowledge and advice for young artists seeking to break into the business.

    Proko is better than college
I’ve learned more from Proko than I learned in college getting my Bachelors of Fine Arts. The podcast is great for me to see how successful artists and teachers think.
  • knight_7
Such an informative and eye opening podcast for beginner artists
I just want to start by saying that I’m giving the Draftsmen a 5 stars because it’s a must listen for beginner artists and not because Stan keeps commanding me to do so haha! Anyways yes! The draftsmen podcast, as far as I am concerned, is one of the must-listens for beginner artists or students who wish to dedicate themselves to making a living off art such as myself. Marshall Vandruff and Stan Prokopenko bring with them knowledge and experience which they share with us through topics and subjects that matter to artists. It is such an informative show that still manages to entertain and keep you engaged; which is mostly due to the two hosts! Also, personally, this podcast has introduced me to so many other artists, art events, workshops, studios, art learning facilities( like the Watts Atelier) and art related books that I was not exposed to before. They’ve informed me(I knew nothing before)and opened my eyes,so to speak, to a section(not the whole) of the “world of art”. Hopefully this podcast will continue for as long as possible! Thank you Stan and Marshall for creating this show, I truly appreciate this podcast; I’ve learned very much already just 14 episodes in!
  • Ladybraven56
    Awesome For Aspiring Artists!
This show gives me inspiration on the way to work. Sometimes I feel a little burnt out and the draftsmen podcast will help me reconnect with why I love drawing!
  • Maria__39
    Great Podcast, but not everything...
The Podcast is great and the content is very interesting, but how immature Proko is... his attitude looks like a teenager.
