elvdefsky3Great Show!I’m really enjoying this show. I’m a huge history buff but I rarely get the time to read anything not related to my schoolwork so this podcast is good for getting my history fix. I hope there are more episodes coming at some point.

StraightironThis is an Excellent podcast with many fun facts!!!Highly recommended!!!
-
Spencer ShooterExcellent PodcastLove the information and detail I’m a life long civil war historian and this is definitely worth listening to . I have been listening to another popular podcast that also has good information but the host insists on wasting the first third of the time with needless personal information and can’t resist including personal political beliefs.
-
TampabucsFSUGreat!I love that the host just presents the facts. No agenda here.
-
CoronanicSuperlativeSo entertaining, so informative. My favorite podcast of all time. I hope there will be more. I especially appreciate that he presents the history without taking sides.
-
AvidpodlistenerInformative and well doneWell researched and professional quality. Worth subscribing. I get slightly annoyed at the host constant “uh” and “um” filler words but I think it’s subconscious and he probably doesn’t realize he’s doing it. Simple gripe, that’s all. Subscribe people!

BJAHarperSuper enjoyableFor anyone interested in learning more about Civil War and important figures, this podcast is well researched, has depth and many first person accounts that take you right back to the times. I enjoy Christopher Moore’s style of telling the story and highly recommend this podcast.

geekgrannyRed River CampaignVery much enjoyed the series on Red River Campaign. I grew up in southwest Louisiana and am familiar with the area. Sabine is pronounced suh-BEAN.

WM WoodGlad I stumbled upon this PodcastI’ve been a regular listener to a few other CW related podcasts and had yours saved for awhile but not listened to. Your Forrest episode was my first and instantly moved your series up to the front burner for me. I enjoy your segments and appreciate the 19th century contextualization. It is unfortunate many modern day academia (“historians”) has allowed 21st century partisan politics to inaccurately present revisionist history. Thanks much for offering this podcast. I thoroughly enjoy. Keep up the great work.
-
Nawlins19General ForrestWonderful depiction of one of the Civil Wars greatest Generals! Fact check on Red River campaign: I lived in Louisiana a long time and was always told our nickname was the “Bayou State”… Not the “Pelican State”.
-
BickbacktackAmazing ShowLove this podcast! The amount of detail in each podcast is amazing. I have learned more from listening than most history books I have read. Thank you for the details, odd facts and for taking the time to do the hard work of putting this all together.
-
BlueGreyBroncoTremendous and well balancedThis is one of the two BEST series I have ever listened to. (The Cold War by Bill Whittle is the other). It is extremely entertaining, informative and presented exceptionally well. I’m certain it requires an immense amount of research and work to produce each episode. My only criticism is the infrequency of the episodes. Please present the next episode soon….!!

Jezz74Entertaining and, well, very neutral.I decided to start listening to this podcast starting with the Nathan Bedford Forrest episodes (1-4). I figure if this starts out or becomes the typical one sided (either way) outlook, then I’m not wasting my time on it. Well…it didn’t! The podcast felt as if it stayed neutral all the time. Giving you the facts and historical accounts from both sides. Breaking down the Fort Pillow battle to what it really was, but at the same time also exposing Forrest’s faults along the way. It takes you from his boyhood approach to life to his post war mind frame. I feel like it neither paints him as the villain or a hero. It shows him to be just a man. Albeit one colorful character of a man…love him/hate him…these podcasts exposed and covered much about how Forrest was scapegoated as well as showing many of his faults and shortcomings. If this is how these podcasts are going to go, then I look forward to listening to the rest of them. They’re edited professionally and they’re not just informative, they’re quite entertaining. I would have much preferred to have had this in school. The narrator keeps you in the story and not bored. Much more like the guest lecturers I saw in college and not my high school history teacher (who was clearly looking to just earn their paycheck). Lastly…if you want an insight into the American civil war….this looks to be a great way to gather that information. Check it out for yourself. I bet you’ll like it as well!

Omne IgnotumExcellent Civil War PodcastI love this podcast: easy to listen to, thorough and interesting, and I enjoy his very subtle cultural references and quips. This show isn’t dry and boring. Keep up the good work!
-
Pittsburgh_JoeGreat Civil War podcastGreat podcast to get a better understanding of those who were involved in the Civil War. Very insightful.

Hs varsityguy6Must Listen for Civil War Buffs and Regular Folks AlikeEasily my favorite ACW podcast and a must-listen in my opinion. I’m pretty well studied as an amateur CW historian and I always find new facts and stories in this podcast. It’s truly given me a lot of respect for certain people from the era that I could not stand at relative face value and had therefore not focused my studies on. His story telling skills are Grade A as well. I always look forward to the next great series B&G releases. Thanks and keep up the great work!!

RavenManiac31Listen to Portraits of Blue & Grey! You won’t be disappointed!Portraits of Blue & Grey is one of my absolute favorite podcasts, period. I am a civil war history buff and Christopher Moore paints a picture of the these men and their connected historical events with such detail and passion it rivals that of history’s most famous portrait painters. I am impressed with the attention to detail and thoroughness that the medium is presented. If you love history, are intrigued and captivated by extraordinary men and their contributions to the shaping of our great nation, I cannot think of a better way to spend your dedicated podcast time. Thank you Mr. Moore, please keep the content coming!

Hubby daddyMidnight ramblerFantastic podcast. I’m a long distance truck driver an I was going through Lexington, VA area & was curious if he had a podcast on Thomas J Jackson. Scanned through & what ye know...a multi part on old Stonewall. Just listened to part 1. Very informative. Kudos fine sir.

Tbone birdA great podcast to learn about both sides of the Civil WarAs southerner and someone that enjoys learning about history I never know what I’m going to get out of thing’s like this but I feel it’s a very far take on both sides. I also would have never looked to hard into some northern Generals and people but because of this podcast I feel I have a far understanding of some of them and a better understanding of the great southerners I enjoy learning about as it was.

new 1password convertVery interesting and entertainingI happened upon this podcast recently. My husband and I listen every time we do our morning walk. Episodes are educational, entertaining and fascinating! They are through and well done! Thank you so much for these podcasts
-
ProximoPoet1576Pleasantly surprised!I’ve been a “buff” since a young boy. Read and studied everything I could throughout childhood and adolescence. Nearly all of my heroes come from the ranks of men who fought and died during the war. As a busy husband/father this podcast that I accidentally found has both taken me back to a long lost passion and has uncovered things that I didn’t even know or consider. What a great way to learn and enjoy the most critical and pivotal period of our nations history! Thank you for your honest and unbiased biographical sketches.

aardvark6155Enjoy, but the music...Enjoying binging these stories, especially the Stonewall episodes. He was a brilliant tactician and was one of few CSA generals that understood what it would take to win strategically. Thoroughly consistent in his efforts (Peninsula campaign aside).was, unfortunately, ignored too often. Using the guest to read quotes works as long as its not overused. I have to ask about the choice of the music. Surely, there is something that doesn't sound like something from "The Mickey Mouse Club". Maybe there's some reason for this mediocre sound, but it's lost on me. Please look for something that is more befitting the subject matter and quality of your show.

SOG TankAwesome!Fantastic podcast. Just the show any history buff is looking for. Entertaining to listen to and factual always with credit given to the reference material.

Goooooodmaaaaaan LukeGreat overallLove the podcast. He does a great job of staying objective and giving the facts. Also makes it interesting. Surprisingly there are very few long form history podcasts out there. This is definitely one of the better ones.
-
chewonmyfistWhat’s your day job? I’m guessing CIA.Love this podcast as I traverse civil war territory as a trucker. Growing up in the west with horrible history teachers I never really got the civil war. Your podcast along with Shelby Foote and Ken Burns helped bring the civil war alive for me. The real life characters are so interesting. Kudos.
-
AdSeaDecent PodcastWell-researched, though infrequently-released. Runs a little long and find myself running it at 1.2x to get ththe episode runtime down to a reasonable length. Maybe cut the episode length down to 40 minutes and release more often? The earlier more-focused episodes did a great job of staying focused, but the narrator's more-frequent recent habit of breaking out into modern-culture comparisons that include unnecessary racial undertones are jarring. Taking the listener out of the timeline with modern references acts breaks the flow and takes the listener out of the timeframe, similar to breaking suspension of disbelief in a cinematic release.

Ol' Farmer BrownGreat jobThanks for the information

Eddie Brown SrGreat podcastWell done, very informative. One of my favorite podcasts. I hope they can come more often.

V7i7cFirst rate historyNot too long. Not too short. This is the goldilocks podcast for civil war enthusiasts. Listen then you will learn a great deal about some of the luminaries of that all important conflict delivered in a charming fashion by the author. Bravo!
-
OC ChicagoExceptionally straightHave listened to several episodes and have enjoyed it. Seems to be historically accurate and mostly without the typical annoying judging of historical figures thru today’s political prisms. That is refreshing.
-
cubssux05Just not enoughVery well put together Podcast, but the gaps are to far between each episode.
-
Dallaire's DiscipleGood pacing, fun anecdotesAnd Lord of the Rings and Iliad references for good measure!
-
fionasbabyhippoWell Done!A simple but well done extremely informative podcast. Can’t wait to hear more in 2020!
-
JefferyVarnadoreMy new favorite podcastLove this podcast and hope he’s able to keep releasing them.

HoloisaWolfFinally a Balanced Civil War PodcastToo often Civil War examinations fall into a moralizing tale about the North’s quest for equality versus the evil racist Southerners, luckily Blue and Gray does not fall into this trap. It examines the lives of important figures within the context of their own time period, not by modern sensibilities. By doing this the podcast is willing to engage the listener in approaching a controversial period of history with a lens that allows fair study of both sides.
