LDmoneyMovesOne of my favesI love this podcast so much. Really informative topics, and I love that the format is conversational and not stuffy like most other finance podcasts. And they don’t claim to know everything, but plant interesting ideas that I research later that I wouldn’t have thought of myself.
-
Interested bystanderSurprisingSometimes they are spot-on with their insight.
-
c_warrenJasmineI love the podcast but I cannot listen to episodes with women who do that fake gravelly voice to sound smart or important.
-
SusmarineGreat banter and informativeThis is my absolute favorite money podcast because it combines great information with really engaging banter between the two of them, because they are best friends and you can tell their respect for each other is mutual and genuine. I just love learning from them and I always take away something useful to apply to my own financial management
-
shockersfanHorrendous podcastBad language and personal promotions are rampant here, truly awful podcast. Stay away from this one.
-
A A 1313So disappointedVery biased show. Recent guest was clearly on to criticize the current administration. Research all their guests and their backgrounds, they are liberals. Never once had a guest on to attack the last administration. Read between the lines on their personal quips. Time to unfollow this show.
-
Jeff Pierce_6Take Control of Your MoneyThis is a great podcast for people looking to take control of their money. In general, Matt and Joel offer simple tips to improve your financial well being that are easy to understand and to follow. I have been listening to the podcast for almost six years now, and I truly believe I am in a significantly better place financially than I would be without it.
-
whitneyv05They’re podcasters, not economists or financial advisersI appreciate this podcast for BASIC financial information but when they try to go beyond those topics, it becomes apparent that these hosts have zero formal finance or economic education. The hosts spend a fair amount of time talking about themselves and speak about current event topics purely from news media headlines without doing adequate research. Episode 936 was pretty gross with their lackadaisical attitude about the largest employer on the U.S. (Fed government) and the impact RTO for 2.28 million people. These guys literally think Fed employees are only around DC and don’t want that commute. Telework was around and available long before COVID due to bargained union agreements. They also cited “some Senator’s report” as evidence to support their claims that telework has not been effective despite MANY studies with actual data to support the opposite. “Some Senator’s report” contained inaccurate information gathered from a self-assigned and self-reported news survey of 6,338 people. Step away from your alt right sources, don’t regurgitate propaganda, and don’t be so lazy with your research.
-
Jane E.B.Helpful for normal peopleI appreciate that the information and tips in this podcast are good for regular middle class people and that the advice is well rounded without ever being extreme
-
Dogmom0999Great info but VERY long-winded!Love the info that these guys put out but BOY do they love to hear themselves talk! Sometimes I have to skip through the various segments just to get to the next topic, because they spend so much time talking about one particular thing.
-
tinkerbaeGreat topic - #920 Childfree WealthVery informative! It’s a topic not much talked about in the PF space. I’m will read his book.
-
Earlyriser2000Episode #914?!Love your podcast. Educational, inspirational, and always fun. But wow episode 914? I understand getting other perspectives but giving her a platform & pointing your listeners to her book? Yikes!

Listener of the PodcastsDisappointedI have listened to this podcast for a few years and have learned a lot from them that have improved my finances. I listened to their last episode with Scott Hodge and I was really disappointed. There were so many follow up questions that I audibly asked that I wished the hosts would ask. There was no challenging Scott on his takes. It felt like an ad for trickle down economics when we have concrete evidence that this has not worked, and also created a larger wealth gap. It felt very patronizing to say progressive economic plans are only well intentioned. Some questions I wished they asked is why are costs higher for consumers and profit margins are at an all-time high even though the corporate tax rates are at an all time low? They dropped 14% in 2017 and they still found a way to push prices for their own gain. With Scott’s tax philosophy, corporate wealth is not passed down to its employees who will keep local economies thriving. It is redistributed between the executives and shareholders to further line their pockets. Hearing the hosts be yes men really turned me off from the podcast.

Mimi C 12345Beware of the products they advertise! Please stop advertising Capitalize without asking your audience to do thorough research! It’s been years and I’m still getting hit with $10k+ tax bills Just a friendly reminder to do your own research! I decided to trust these seemingly harmless “boys next door” podcasters and lost around $10k using HiCapitalize.com. Also, Policy Genius sold my personal information to telemarketers. As soon as I reached out for a quote, I had multiple calls from foreign phone numbers. Terribly frightening.

"Tucker"Ray & Zack Sent MeAs someone who retired in my 30’s, I have a lot of time to spend learning. One thing I do (daily) is listen to the CarEdge podcast, but their shows are too short. I really appreciated that you had them on, if for no other reason than I could hear more wisdom from Ray. Great show gentlemen and I’m now following your podcast, too!
-
Tommy FizzsterGreat money podcast!I’ve learned many financial tricks from these guys over the years. Definitely the perfect personalities for running a podcast. Very good at interviewing - always asking the right questions while using just enough humor to keep it entertaining. I can’t help reading the comment about the meat pie ads hahaha. Not a reason for a bad review but it’s a lot. But atleast I know where to get a meat pie with a perfectly flaky crust!
-
Mr. CoffinSolid financial adviceWhen they stick to financial issues, I almost always learn something useful. I’m not a fan of the beer stuff. Sometimes they stray into public policy area where their expertise is questionable and their comments unsupported.
-
TeacherReviewer_21Meat pies???Been listening for3 years. The commercial ads are exhausting. I’m so tired of hearing about Matt and Joel’s meat pies on their vacation. Find some new sponsors or find a way so that it doesn’t hurt my ears.
-
Sean PennypackerUsing bad language nowI’ve listened to this podcast for years but I’ve been disappointed to here the bad language now being used. Some of us like to play podcasts in the presence of young children.
-
PennCCRNGreat!I’m such a fan avid listener of these guys — followed Joel from another pod and found this little gem. Both of these guys’s approach to personal finance is down to earth and a “meet where you’re at” mentality. Overall, I think they give solid advice. Some advice I disagree — specifically their take on avoiding international investing — but this is not enough for me to stop listening. But I do love their money gears and I think it’s a solid framework for getting started. Thanks for all the great work you pour into the pod.
-
🐉⛄️🐉🐉Helping make complicated finances easier to manageI appreciate their take on complicated financial matters. They’ve always been fun to listen to and easily relatable!
-
Monopo minionStellar podcast for personal financeI’ve been listening to Matt and Joel since the very beginning and throughout the years, they have given advice that has really helped shape personal finances for me and my family. Thank you so much!
-
WhatsinrheboxThe place to beI love listening to Matt and Joel!! Their advice is beyond clear, and even though I know so much more than I used to, I still listen to every episode because there’s always a little nugget of new info in every episode. Their listener question episodes are the best!!
-
SubsailrGood help for financial ignorantI have never had any educational training in the realm of finance. Unfortunately get a super late start, but these guys have really helped guide someone who was scared to jump in the investing world. Always thought credit cards were the devil until coming across this podcast. I drive 100 miles one way to work, so it's nice having something to fill that time with helpful information and guidance.
-
Corey RokokokSolid adviceSolid personal finance advice from a couple of millennial Christian dad types. Caters more to young able-bodied people and not so much to seniors, disabled etc. Still, learning a ton.
-
WesleyJellinEnjoyable and HelpfulI have listened to the show a few years now, and realized I have never left a review! This show is full of great advice and is an enjoyable listen as well. Joel and Matt give very realistic advice, and definitely know their stuff!
-

sirkdizzzle5 stars!Joel and Matt paid me to leave 5 stars. Totally kidding! This show has taught me so much about personal finance, helped me stick to my money goals and continues to inspire me to explore how to better my planning. Can’t thank this show enough!
-
ShellinaReavesGreat resource, great communityI’ve learned so much and continue to. Listen every week. Wide variety of topics and always interesting and helpful. You can tell they are besties, great chemistry while still individually having a unique points of view. Started my HYSA because of their advice. I’ve made more interest in the past 3 months than I’ve probably ever earned from my savings at my CU. Thanks for formatting the subject of money into something enjoyable and easy to digest.
-
lyz HAmazing source of financial information.Love you guys and listen all the time. So much knowledge I get from you guys! Small caveat-maybe don’t say “more then one way to skin a cat.” Since we all love our pets! Looking forward to your Friday flight as well!
-
Meg0REnjoyable to listen to AND informative!!I’ve been trying to improve my financial literacy over the past few years and Matt and Joel are the best!! They teach without being preachy or boring, and listening to them almost feels like I’m hanging out with old friends. Friday flights are my favorites!
-
PhuknicknamesBest money podcastComing from a family that didn’t talk about money and sucked at managing it, I knew absolutely nothing about anything money related. When researching how to’s I often found them unrelatable and with impossible goals. How to money breaks things down to the simplest terms, has achievable goals, and their hosts seem like regular guys that I can relate to, instead of someone talking down to me. And when I did ask a question, they quickly responded and didn’t make me feel stupid. I listen to many podcasts (not money related) but this is my favorite.
-
Tricia PGreat show!Love this podcast. Really enjoy Matt and Joel’s take on money and life in general. They always provide good tips and guidance.
-
zacktyzwyzIf AI created two podcast hostsTwo dudes with as much personality as a wet paper towel try desperately to be funny and interesting while regurgitating the same tired surface level advice over and over again.
-
JMountainsNCMy OG financial podcastBegan rethinking the way I use and view my money when I started listening to these guys. While I have added a couple podcasts to my queue, this is one that I am certain to listen to every episode. Thank you for what you guys do and your well rounded insights!

-
JessicaRoller43My daily podcast!I discovered this podcast about 6 months, and it has helped transform my financial way of thinking. I thought I was good with money until this podcast. As a young millennial woman, it has taught me so much! Keep doing what you’re doing guys!
-
jagster814Love the showDown to earth, great topics and I particularly love the frugal or cheap convos. I wish I had the same interest in craft beer, but we vibe on about everything else!
-
tsyehebebdLove the podcastI started listening at the beginning of October 2023 and I have played all the episodes from the beginning of 2023. Keep up the good work
-
Elliot oSo many adsJust kind feels impersonal and there are to many ads. Other financial podcast out there that are just as quality with less ads.
-
HTM2023Everything You Need To Get StartedMatt and Joel have a library of information here presented in an easy to digest format. Their show makes navigating the world of financial wellness attainable with every episode. They are also very engaging and happy to answer questions either via email or on their podcast. As a fellow money nerd, I have friends reach out to me with many financial questions. I regularly share How To Money episodes as an easy reference and would highly recommend this podcast to beginners and experts alike!
-
sdfklghjWonderful fun show! A little advice :)I love this show and it is also fun and digestible! Joel and Matt really know their stuff! One small suggestion is please please create more content for unmarried but long-term committed couples! Seems like so much of the couple advice is for people who are dating > maybe living together> engaged > married > have kids ( maybe and then have drastically different incomes in this phase). As someone in a long-term committed relationship but who isn’t legally married, I need more advice all around in money as a couple, especially when your spending habits and desires in wanting to talk about money differ. I do see your show lately opening up more often to guests who talk about advice for people in different family situations than the two hosts, and appreciate it so much! Hoping to see more of this, because with so much content out there entirely focused on legally married people, I’ve been feeling unseen. 7% of US adults are cohabiting with an unmarried partner. This number appears to now be growing amongst highly educated and middle-income to upper middle-income earners— I bet that’s a lot of your audience! Thanks for being such a wonderful guide in all things money!
-
Teh HoochOut of touchIt’s interesting to see how these two have transformed since their post covid boom of listeners. Matt has completely turned me off from the podcast. He constantly likes to insert his political commentary. We get it Matt, you hate democrats and you love capitalism. Mostly because it has probably benefited both of you since you were the lucky ones to have millions in Atlanta real estate since you purchased when homes were affordable in one of the most expensive intown neighborhoods. I can’t take this pair seriously anymore. Also to the advertisers who pay them money, no one is listening to their million ads. We just fast forward.
-
LizzzieLouGirl Math? Really?Wow. Listen to two cheap and entitled men use phrases like, “girl math.” Ugh
-
tamafourThe best personal finance podcast out there!Matt and Joel make personal finance so approachable and entertaining. They give practical advice, have great guests on the show, and I learn something from every episode! You can tell they’re truly passionate about what they do! If you're looking for a personal finance podcast that's informative, entertaining, and practical, I highly recommend How To Money. It's the best personal finance podcast out there!
-
XYZ9007MORE FAMOUS..MORE ADS!!! Otherwise good info!!!!!
-
beaknnReal Talk on Personal FinanceHow to Money is the go-to podcast for accessible, jargon-free financial advice. Joel and Matt make you feel like you're chatting with friends while delivering crucial money tips. A must-listen for anyone wanting to live a rich life without getting bogged down in financial lingo. Five stars!

mktr4This Is The Best Financial Podcast AvailableCirca 2008, after a long day of up selling financial products to small business owners, I found myself at a bar in La Jolla, CA having a delicious Stone IPA to wash the foul taste of Wells Fargo from my mouth. Behind me, I overheard two dudes discussing this interesting thing called universal life insurance. One of the guys was completely for it, calling it a wealth hack; the other was pretty skeptical, calling it a scam. They went on and on about these various details of life insurance policies, and I was so captivated by their conversation, I continued to eavesdrop. When the waitress came around a second time for their order, they asked for another minute to review the beer selection. One guy settled on a Ballast Point IPA, but the other couldn’t decide. I chimed in and said “The Stone IPA is pretty good,” gesturing to my glass. “Right on man, thanks!” And he ordered the beer. That was my opportunity to learn more about this insurance product they were talking about, so I asked and the three of us drank beers and talked money for another hour or so… it was a pretty great experience and I have never seen or heard from them since. That’s what this podcast reminds me of. Matt and Joel have great chemistry and a firm command of various financial topics. I have about a 30-minute commute to work each direction which is usually the perfect round-trip time to crush an episode. I have listened to many podcasts, and I can confidently say that between the great topics covered, the credibility of the guests, and the overall quality and format of the production, this is the best financial podcast available.
